Forma Gym in Walnut Creek markets itself as a luxury fitness club, but my experience was anything…read morebut premium. The disparity between the men's and women's locker rooms is impossible to ignore. The men's locker room is clean, well-maintained, and includes a sauna. The women's locker room doesn't even have a sauna. Instead, it has filthy floors, poorly maintained showers that don't drain, and standing water collecting around your feet while you shower. It's unsanitary, disgusting, and completely unacceptable for a gym charging premium membership fees. I tolerated these conditions for months before finally deciding enough was enough and canceling my membership. Unfortunately, the cancellation process was even worse than the locker room. I canceled my membership, yet Forma put me into a "soft cancellation" and quietly started charging me again three months later. I didn't realize it immediately, and by the time I caught the charges, they had collected months of membership fees. Rather than refunding money they never should have taken, they offered me free months at the same gym I had already chosen to leave. That is not customer service--it's a refusal to take responsibility. Between the neglected women's facilities and the way my cancellation was handled, I left feeling that Forma cares far more about collecting membership fees than providing the premium experience it advertises. I would never recommend Forma Gym in Walnut Creek won't be returning.

I also love the sense of community and seeing the same friendly faces every week while becoming stronger and feeling better about myself. The instructors are always checking your form during the exercises and make sure you get the most out of your workout. They also tailor the exercises to your strength or any limitations you may have. Having an owner who is -la physical therapist is a huge plus for a gym and you can tell based on the instructors he chooses. For me personally I couldn't have asked for a better gym after years of not working out. I highly recommend Fit Studio Danville!

Surfaces appear clean, but accessories haven't been replaced in over two years and are often disgusting, with cockroaches sometimes found in the filthy mats. The owner's approach to sanitation is insufficient, providing only Renew moisturizing hand wash, which is not antibacterial, and Soluguard botanical spray. While Soluguard is EPA-registered to kill some household germs, it's a thyme oil-based product that doesn't provide the necessary level of infection protection against viruses like COVID or RSV in a gym setting. This inadequate hygiene, combined with the owner's indifference to member requests and dangerous habit of propping doors open, creates a serious safety concern.

The classes feel like studio classes (like barre or spin, etc.) that you'd be paying almost $200/month for without any amenities or regular gym equipment. I've been to other gyms in the past that had a lot of hm, lets just call it people watching and social hour. Folks here are definitely here to workout, do their own thing and friendly. Definitely a no judgement zone. I also had some hesitations based on other reviews about not being able to freeze or cancel membership within the first year especially if you have an injury and what not but decided to go for it anyway despite that, more on that later. Some other other gyms didn't seem to be any better based on those reviews so it probably would've been similar issues elsewhere anyway. When you initial sign up, they give you some comp sessions with a trainer (to obviously sell you personal training) but it's something I wanted to try anyway. I thought, why not, let's give it a go for a few months since I thought it would be good to get an extra boost and back into a routine. Well, a few months had passed and then I had some travel plans so I was away from the gym but then came back from my travels with a severe knee injury where I could barely walk. It sucked but I showed up anyway. Not because I couldn't cancel my membership due to the contract terms but because I needed movement for rehab. I was initially hesitant about returning to training because I felt like I wouldn't be training at 100%. And let's be real, the training sessions aren't cheap. After some discussion with physical therapist for a rehab plan, I decided to return to training with Summer and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've made. Summer programed exercises for me to supplement my PT. She has been really awesome to work with, because my program needed a lot of re-working along the way to adapt to my rehab progress. She's also open to feedback and really great with listening to my input on things that I want to work on. While I am still ways away from being 100% recovered from my knee injury, I already feel like it's night and day compared to just a few months ago. So why only 4 stars? Well, only taking one off is quite generous despite some issues with their app, specifically for training and the so-so amenities in the locker room. The app isn't the best and there were some miscommunications with it that led to a lot of frustration but the training manager Matt was really nice and made it right. The other reason for taking off the star was the amenities which they finally changed to something that smells way better. The previous products didn't smell good and it seemed like the shampoo, body wash, and face cleanser seemed like it was all the same soap in the shower. Didn't feel like there is anything different between the stuff in the bottles. It wouldn't even upset me that there was just one multipurpose wash but the same soap in the different bottles is just confusing for me. Like what's the point? Anyway, good riddance with the old stuff. I haven't tried the new stuff yet aside from the lotion that smells heavenly. I haven't been to the other locations to compare but this one is sufficient for my needs.

Actually life changing…read more I've waited to review this gym, and I can confidently say that after a year of being a member - it is worth every penny!! With Equinox you truly get what you pay for - cleanliness, supportive and attentive staff, great atmosphere, quality equipment and machines, and incredible amenities. As someone who had a membership at both Planet Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness, there is nothing like Equinox. Regardless of the time of day, or day of the week - their version of "busy" or "peak times" is nothing in comparison to other gyms. I've always been able to find a spot to workout (squat rack, free weights, etc) and have hardly ever had to wait for a machine. In the few times I have had to wait, it was super short or Ive been able to work into a set with another person. It's also incredibly clean with wonderful amenities. My ideal Saturday consists of getting to Equinox - completing a workout, steam room session (15-20 mins), shower and massage. Also, I definitely want to shoutout the trainer I worked with, Jordan! I saw results in 3 months of working with him than I have in over a year of training with someone else. There is also a full spa!! Shoutout to Hailey and Amelia!! I've had them both as massage therapists - and they were both AMAZING!!! Overall, is it pricey? Yes, but all of the benefits are more than worth it!!! So happy to have found this incredible gym!!!!

Overall a good experience. I did my usual workout, but was sore (in a positive way) the next few days. No pain, no gain. No problem having access to the machines I use. Except I always wonder when there are so many machines; why do people HAVE to use the machine RIGHT next to me... Same goes with parking spaces, I digress... Ambiance - See above. Similar/same equipment as all PF. One of the two massage chairs was broken and there was a long line to use, so I skipped it on this trip. The showers did NOT have shampoo or soap, unlike my NV locations or the Hayward CA location. Limited parking in the garage, I had to park on the roof. And of course, one of the two elevators did not work. See pictures. Good thing I want to work out, lol. Service - 5 stars, the lady working the front was so nice and welcoming. The two men that replaced her were not as welcoming. They were not bad, just not as welcoming. I like the sanitizer message at the end of the massage chairs, see picture. Price - $15 month + $49 annual fee or $229 a year. If you do the math, this is the same price?!?! I guess the convenience of paying for the entire year...? Really should offer a discount. $24.99/mo for a black card. We are black card holders. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1992 with your 2,500+ locations. And with this new location since June of 2022.
