Another weekend passes and I am growing more and more frustrated with The Iron Shop. We ordered our $6k spiral staircase (NOT including a few thousand $$ for labor) on May 13. After being told and as stated on the contract that the stairs would ship in 8-9 weeks, we are now going on 11 weeks and are being told it will still be another 3 weeks until *hopefully* the stairs are completed in their shop. We are also just now being told that delays in production are completely normal. Gee, that would've been nice to know BEFORE placing our order, especially when we are sure that the other vendors we were talking to would have gotten us our stairs by now. Also, I have had to be the one asking the company for updates and timing, when I feel they should be giving us the updates on such a large order. AND, they haven't even said sorry/apologized or offered any discounts or anything for the delay. I would think for a company these days, that should be best practice especially with all the competition out there and the potential for customers to become upset and write reviews online like this one. Doesn't seem that they mind messing with their customers' time or money. It is quite a bummer and disappointment to say the least, and I am just really hoping for no further delays, issues with shipping and installation, etc. As of right now though, I would NOT recommend The Iron Shop. Do your homework and talk to the dozens of other companies all over CA and elsewhere! read more

Not only did the Iron shop take about 6 months to deliver my stair case, I could not install it because Covid 19 hit and when i recently hired a contractor to install my stairway and it was brought to my attention that a step was missing. I notified Barbara and informed her the situation and which she got back to me with unpleasant news. Not only were they going to charge me $250 shipping plus the other missing items that come with that missing step and another $200 to $300. I was not happy with their customer service. And it was their mistake. I hired a local company near my city and they came through plus the cost was no comparison to what the iron shop was going to charge me. I would not recommend The Iron Shop ever, please use your local businesses in your area, let's support small companies instead. read more

If in search of a spiral staircase, please do not purchase one of the iron shops stair kits. The stair kitsl are like an erector set. They are difficult to put together, too many moving parts and to make matters worse the handrail that runs from the top of the stairs to the bottom of the stair comes as and aluminum coil. This coil is so difficult to install connecting each one of the spindles to the handrail that you will probably lose your mind attempting to do this. When I purchased the stair kit from the iron shop no one indicated that this was a put together on site product. I paid $200 for delivery to my job site, thinking all we had to do was mount the stair to the floor and to the header beams. Boy was I wrong I have had sleepless nights just trying to figure out how to install this beast. read more

I have purchased two sets of spiral stairs from them and they have performed as needed. I build stage sets for a living so I am use to the erector set style of the units. They seemed scary at first, but the instructions are pretty straightforward. This is no "made in China" set of instructions. They have an amazing showroom with a lot of high priced much better staircases then the one I purchased. For a production I had to split a staircase into two separate shorter units. I found the sales guy to be very helpful in hooking me up with the additional components I required for a small fee if course. The handrail leaves much to be desired as I got plastic pipe for mine. As a set designer the plastic served its purpose, but for a home installation I would have liked a bit fancier option. It could have existed, I don't recall being offered it. I will do business with them again. read more

I give them two stars at this point but may need to revise this if i ever get the stair kit i paid for. We ordered a spiral stair kit from the Ontario, Ca location. They serve the Los Angeles area. Went the there shop to see the quality and design the stairs. All good. They were helpful and offered several options in different price ranges. Not a real busy show room as you might expect. One thing you need to know before you place a order is the stairs are manafactured in Pennsylvanna and they require a 50% deposit to start. No problem, they gave us a ship date and would call us to when they were ready to ship. Well of course they dont call. So I call them and they told me they will ship next day and they needed the balance before they will ship. Give them the charge card # and auth. them to run the balance. They would send me a shippers tracking # the next day. In the mean time i have the installers that need to schedule when time to be on the job site and install this thing. No way, lost them for another week!! Three days later no communication. I call them again put on hold forever. Then i call the mian office in PA. They said the stairs was not ready to ship and they need the balance before they ship. The genius in Ontario didnt run the card and didnt even have the card number i gave him four days earlier. So i give him the card # again, he is to call me back with the shipping details. Of course, never hear back call him. You know where this is going, I cant believe they have so little regard for their customers, they cant pick-up a phone or send an e-mail. I mea, can they be that busy? It's like ever step of the way you need to be on these guys, because they will forget your order At this point, i can only hope their manafacturing operation is better then their sales department, right? I'll finish this story once, if ever, we get the damn stairs. read more
