Sounds simple enough, but this is so uncommon that all of the local chains didn't have anything, and one young man in an orange apron Ron suggested I just get it on Amazon. I stopped here at Merrifield, and they also did not have it in stock. But the gentleman at the counter Suggested that he'd be happy to make one for me if I wouldn't mind waiting for a few minutes. And he jumped into action, grabbing the hose and fittings that he needed and manufactured what I needed for me on the spot. That his old-fashioned service deserves a lot more than just five stars. I took some pics of my lawn, some of the current grass/weeds/plants growing and went to their help desk. It was mid-week, so not too busy. Craig was working the desk and so I don't bury the lead... he was AMAZING. I explained what I was trying to do, that I really knew nothing, and though I had done a little research, I didn't want to trust everything I had read/watched. He walked me through my options. I don't care much about what is growing, just that we have good coverage. Clover was something I was interested in. He explained the clover options as well as some low-maintenance grass options. He even spent a lot of time helping me understand about aerating since it was something I wanted to know more about. I decided to go with grass and clover, hoping a mix might balance between lawn and something for the pollinators. As the spots were relatively small, he said I could just hand spread, especially with the clover seeds being so tiny. While prices are a little higher than the big box stores, looking into this, the products seem to be of a higher quality. Luckily my issue was sort of small to start with so I felt it was a good investment.

Here is the abbreviated back story: I'm a disabled 30-year Army veteran who signed a contract with Patriot Lawn in March 2020, after my Persian Gulf War-related disabilities worsened to the point where I could no longer maintain the yard on my own. I selected Patriot Lawn because they mowed my neighbor's yard. My contractual issue with them began when I emailed photos and asked Patriot Lawn to repair the damage to my lawn caused by their crew using the heaviest self-propelled mower on a small area of wet grass in my front yard. The office manager agreed to do the lawn restoration but stipulated that there would be a charge if there was a next time. I responded by offering suggestions to avoid causing further damage (like using a weed eater or simply skipping that small area if it's soggy), and I pushed back on their idea that I should be charged for repairing damage caused by their crew as not being legal in Virginia. The next day, I received an email from the president of Patriot Lawn informing me that after his manager repaired my lawn, and he was discontinuing my mowing service. I responded to his email by pointing out that we have a contract in place that obligated Patriot Lawn to provide a set number of mowing per year, and his unilateral decision to prematurely discontinue my mowing service would be a breach of our contract. The president of Patriot Lawn responded to my email by stating that his mowing service is not a binding contract. In response, I asked him for a copy of our contract to review, but he did not respond to my request. I located a copy of my contract in my email archives, and I confirmed that the president of Patriot Lawn was not telling the truth. So, what am I doing about all of this: first and foremost, I wanted to warn other neighbors about Patriot Lawn and Landscape's unlawful (and unpatriotic) bad faith acts. Secondly, I am in the process of filing a formal bad business complaint with the Better Business Bureau Lastly, under Virginia's Consumer Protection Act, I am in the process of filing a with the Attorney General of Virginia. What do I want you to do: I would like you to avoid signing or renewing a contract with Patriot Lawn and Landscape and instead follow the advice that the company president gave me after four years, "There are a lot of mowing companies out there... and finding one is absolutely the best solution for your lawn."

It was far more reasonable and detailed than two other companies that I had gotten estimates from. The estimate he gave me was to install a 4- zone sprinkler system, and it included being able to control it with my cell phone. I approved the estimate that was given, and a date was set for them to come out and install the system. I had bought plants to be put in after the sprinkler system was operational, but I was in the hospital to have surgery and then rehab when they installed the sprinklers. They started early in the morning and stayed all day (about 11 hours) to get everything done. I couldn't be at home, but I had my daughter and her fiancee check on their progress in the late afternoon and evening. Then Dave took the time when the sprinklers were installed to show my daughter how to program the different zones with her cell phone, so she could show me when I returned home from rehab. They were thorough, professional, and did a great job. When I got back home about 10 days later, I checked the placement of the sprinklers. I thought that many of the sprinkler heads were too close to the house, so I called Pacific's office. I scheduled a day for the crew to come back out again to move quite a few of the sprinkler heads away from the house. Not only did Dave and a second tech take quite a while to reposition the sprinklers, but they were so very nice about it. They actually listened to what I wanted, and THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANYTHING EXTRA FOR COMING OUT AND DOING ALL THAT WORK ANOTHER TIME! If this company doesn't warrant 5 stars, I don't know who does.
