It's nice having a place where I can feel comfortable going back to different stylists and still trust that I'm going to leave happy with my hair. One of my favorite things about coming here is that it actually feels like a little "me time" rather than just another hair appointment. Being able to relax with a cappuccino, glass of wine, or another drink while getting my hair done is such a nice touch and definitely adds to the experience. The salon itself is beautiful, modern, and always feels clean and well maintained. The interior has an upscale feel without being uncomfortable or overly stuffy, so it's an easy place to sit back and relax. After coming here for years, the consistency is really what earns the 5 stars for me. Between the atmosphere, the extra touches, and the great service I've received from Charles, Victoria, and Ben, Mango has remained one of my go-to places. I was mostly going for the relaxation and this experience definitely delivers. I made an appointment online and then went to TCG's location in the Hourglass District. They did send a note beforehand, saying what to expect, how to show up (with unwashed hair), and to not show up too far in advance as they have limited seating. It is a small location and in addition to the Headspa, they are a full service Aveda Hair salon. There are two Headspa scalp analysis stations at the front as well as two Headspa beds in the back. The description did say that there may be other guests in the same room as you and when I arrived, someone else had already started her experience but it was fine. It really didn't impact my experience at all. Abigail had me sit at the scalp analysis station and then asked me questions about my hair and scalp, as well as how much pressure I preferred for massages (the 60 minute experience includes a leg massage, a hand massage and of course the head massages throughout), and what temperature I like the water. She then had me pick which essential oils scent I would like - I chose bergamot and lavender - which would permeate the experience. Abigail viewed my scalp through a magnifying camera and showed that I had product residue on my scalp all along the bottom of the hair shafts. I then changed into a robe and got on one of the Headspa beds. I was covered with blankets as well as a weighted blanket and it was so relaxing already. Abigail then covered my eyes and started working on my scalp and hair. To be honest, I really have no idea what she did, LOL, but it felt great! There were a few tools that really massaged my scalp as well as several different products. During the session, she massaged my legs as well as moisturized and massaged my hands. Then it was time for the cold rinse of my hair and my session was, sadly, over. When we returned to the magnifying camera, I was amazed at how shiny and clean my scalp was! Abigail then put in a detangler and brushed my hair. My hair is too short for braids but a simple braid is included if your hair is long enough. Not included is a blow dry, as that is a separate cost, but my hair was just slightly damp so I was fine. This is a great experience and I will definitely do it again.

So I gave it a try for a wash and set because let's be honest, dominicans rock! Yoly did my hair and she was quick and amazing. No ironing needed, if you know what I mean. My hair looks great, and am loving it. I even ventured to cut my hair while seating at her chair. The salon is ample and clean, and she was quick, less than 3 hours (including waiting for her to be over with her other client). Her price was more than fair. Hey guys, they have apple/android pay. This salon is far from my house, but I will come back here in a heartbeat.

I showed up when I thought I made the appointment for. There was another customer that walked in just in front of me and she sat in awaiting area. I asked her if there was a receptionist and she said she just text her stylist to let her know she was there. I had never been there before and didn't request a particular person. Also, no phone number like that was provided to me. I looked around and could only find two staff members in the middle of cutting other people's hair. They have no receptionist and were completely ignoring me. After walking around the front and side entrance area for about 15 minutes someone finally came out. She apologized saying that she thought I was friends with the other lady and that's why she didn't check on me. She went to look up my appointment and found that it was supposed to be the week prior somehow. she was nice enough to make me an appointment for the following week and I was not charged that other deposit. When I came back the following week for my appointment, the stylist was about 10 minutes late and took forever to cut my hair. It's a simple haircut and took an entire hour without washing or styling. She also took a couple phone calls from her daughter during my appointment and apologized multiple times stating that was out of the ordinary. She was very nice but I would not come back here. During my first visit, I noticed a sign on the front entrance that there was absolutely no children allowed. When I was waiting to be helped, I noticed there was a child about eight years old that seemed to be one of the stylists' children that was in the main work area watching cartoons while people are getting their haircut. This is not a professional salon. I was really hoping this would be a good place. It was a similar haircut to what I received at Great Clips but took four times as long.

I called mid morning on a weekday (so not during busy hours) and got an answering machine that basically stated you should call your stylist directly. That's great if you've been there before, but not if you haven't. So I sat through this long message where they listed all of their stylists names and phone numbers and finally left a message to get called back. Never got a call. I went to their website and it says to contact stylist directly as their time is spent with clients and not answering the phone. (See photo I uploaded).. SERIOUSLY? That's part of customer service!!!! Hire someone to answer your phones!!! Not brain surgery here. Spending time with customers on the phone is also important. So I called a couple of stylist who, imagine that, did not answer either and never got a call back. To add insult to injury, their site also shows that each day they are open, it's by appointment only, but then below that it says walk-ins welcomed. Well, which is it? So even if I had been there before, it's impossible to get in touch with anyone to make any appointment. I can't imagine if someone got some type of procedure that went wrong or had issues and they couldn't get any answer, that would be very bad. Yeah, no thanks.
