I celebrated my birthday at the Ivy last Saturday, November 23rd. Everything was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere, food and service were top notch. Bret the owner, Drew and Jason the two managers along with their staff were attentive to every detail throughout the entire process. The place is classy and so beautiful. My night was awesome!

So, I started my diet. I need to drop a few pounds. I thought hmmm a nice salad seems right. I had Uber eats pick up my To-go Caesar salad from The Ivy. The pic is attached. I thought the serving size and presentation were good. The Cesar dressing was tasty, probably made fresh. At least it tasted fresh. The cheeses were delicious and the croutons were perfect. They forgot my utensils that I requested. I don't understand how a restaurant can go to the trouble of preparing a lovely to-go presentation and not include napkins and silverware in the bag. Shame Ivy, shame... now the upside is my fingers are nice and clean from licking the Cesar dressing off of them, since I had to eat caveman style. I say try them out for yourself. I'm good with the Cesar offering. I'll have to try something else soon.

This place is mostly known for its night/club scene but wow they have amazing dishes. Everything I've ever had here is always excellent as well as the staff. The mango habanero wings are to die for!!

I believe making a great first impression should be considered whether you are dining in or taking out. Although I cannot say the food that I ordered was horrible, it is grossly misrepresented by food delivery services (by rating and pictures). My bad for not checking Yelp ratings first.

The ivy is the best club in Cleveland. Great atmosphere and staff. Bottle prices are fair compared to other clubs.

It was busy without seeming crowded. The space was spacious, well decorated, unique and made good use of space. The bathrooms downstairs were artsy and in good taste! Menu was kind of limited but I have a feeling they try new things all the time so it was exciting to pick from. Too bad they ran out of some things when we went. I ordered the fried chicken dish which was fried to perfection, well seasoned and paired interestingly with pickled veggies. The portion was tiny but on par with something I would expect in a place like this. I also ordered 2 oysters for $9 which were the tiniest oysters I've ever seen. Sure, they were good but I would not get them again. My girlfriend ordered a canned non-alcoholic drink for $6 (way too expensive for a soda!) and the brussell sprouts. They were good but there was only 4 of them! Our server gave off a "I'm too cool for this gig" and dismissed my order when I asked for the chicken. He recommended the lamb which uh, was almost 3x as expensive as the chicken and not something I wanted as a light late dinner after a show... My friend's SIL worked here so she was warm, welcoming and gave us a great seat. So yeah, it's not the best restaurant in Cleveland or anything but there is something to the hype and if I do get the chance, the brunch looks amazing!

We got there at 11:45am. Upon entering, a pleasant young lady greeted us and, as they were not at all busy, told us we were welcome to choose any table we liked. So we sat right at the window along the river with a very nice view. Quickly thereafter a bubbley, smiling face arrived by the name of Sara. She brought us our water and took our drink orders and away she bounced... marvelous. Shortly after, she returned with our drinks. She very effectively answered our questions and we placed our orders. We were both not too hungry so we stayed with the starters menu. We shared an order of the "Heavenly Biscuits" and I added the "Marinated Olives". Then we both had a bowl of the "Lobster Bisque". Everything showed up in a timely fashion and in proper order. All of it was excellent. I must say, the bisque was exceptionally meaty. A pleasant surprise. As we were finishing up I mentioned I was looking forward to coffee. When Sara arrived I told her we would both like a cup as soon as we were done. With a big smile she said I heard you talking about it and already started a fresh pot for you. I was amazed... such a simple thing, but an example of extraordinary service. My compliments to Sara and the Lakehouse for employing her. After finishing our coffee we took a long stroll on the boardwalk all along the East Bank. It was a very nice afternoon. I recommend the Lakehouse and I highly recommend Sara... ask for her.

We arrived to be greeted by an exemplary young man serving as the valet. He was exceedingly pleasant and personable. I appreciated his marvelous attitude toward his job and our service. The young women who greeted us upon entry were very kind and efficient. We were seated immediately at a very comfortable table. Shortly thereafter, a pleasant gentleman by the name of Ihab introduced himself as our server for the evening. He immediately filled our water, identified the various menus at the table, and took our drink orders. A while later our beverages arrived, he answered several questions and explained the evenings specials. I ordered the Grilled Avocado followed by Broiled Oysters "Rocco". My wife ordered the Potato Gnocchi with crab & lobster. We followed our meal with excellent coffee and a good Pot de Creme. In conclusion... the noise problem that so plagued us the first visit seemed to have been addressed. It was now more reasonable. Our server was a pleasant enough young man but he appeared spread thin. He was continually distracted by his many other tables. It was a bit inconvenient. Finally, the menu was respectable but predictable. There was nothing extraordinary about it.

After waiting about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from anyone, I decided to at least check out the restroom while I waited... and that's when everything went downhill. The floors were extremely sticky--every step literally felt like my shoes were pulling off the ground. It didn't feel clean at all. As I got closer to the restroom area, there was a strong smell of what I can only describe as wet, moldy rags. The bathroom itself was dark, oddly designed, and just gave an overall uncomfortable vibe. What made it worse is that the place wasn't even busy--there was only one table and a couple people at the bar. So the lack of service and cleanliness really stood out. By the time I walked back to the bar, I had already made up my mind. No one had still acknowledged me, and based on the condition of the place, I wasn't willing to take a chance on the food. I grabbed my things and left. Later on, I mentioned it at another restaurant and was told this place is known for poor food quality and lack of authenticity--which honestly aligned with what I experienced just from being inside. I can't speak on the food since I didn't stay, but based on cleanliness, smell, and service alone, I would not recommend this spot. It gave the impression that basic upkeep isn't a priority, and that's not something I'm willing to overlook.

Unfortunately, they couldn't put us together, but we made it work. The location has a spectacular view of Cleveland's skyline. Even with some haze, it was lovely. The food was a hit with everyone. We started with the clothesline bacon and a cinnamon roll. It was perfect for our table. The bacon was not candied as described. It was good, but not something I'd order again for the price. 5 "ok" sugared bacon. The presentation was cute and the blueberry preserves were tasty. The sliced baguette toast was way too hard (break a tooth hard). My Florentine Benedict was cooked perfect,y. I opted for the fruit instead of the potatoes. I didn't realize it would be a $4.00 add on, but it was fresh and all the fruit was perfect. Others had the chicken and waffles, with a side of blueberry sausage, a smash burger and various yummy cocktails. My pomegranate mimosa was delicious and the plump blackberry was scrumptious. The family wall of pictures was a great tribute to life, family, love and Michael T Joseph who sadly died too young. It's a wonderful place to go with friends and family.
