Our experience with Keller Williams was excellent. Max helped us find our first apartment in Boston, and we wouldn't have succeeded in finding everything we were looking for without Max's expertise of the market, first-hand insights of the neighborhood we were most interested in, and keen negotiating skills. I had an amazing experience with Jason as my agent. He was professional, friendly, and responsive to my questions and thoughts. I am a first-time home buyer, and was rather lost as to how to go about purchasing a home. I ran into Jason at an open house (he was showing the house) and felt that he was knowledgeable and friendly, so I decided to see what he could do in the Boston market. I enlisted Ivy to sell our home in Arlington, MA. We had a sunny 4 bdrm, 2.5 bath, 3-level townhome that was recently renovated and in perfect move-in condition. With the busy market, we thought it would sell quickly. After small turnouts at open houses and lack of activity, Ivy said we needed to reduce the price, which we did. We continued to see no turnout, and Ivy said we needed to reduce the price again. After two months on the market watching other similar houses sell quickly, we realized Ivy could not sell our home and that we needed to enlist another agent. However, we could not do so because we were locked into a 3-month exclusive agreement with Ivy. We asked her to release us from the agreement so that we could sell our home, but she refused to do so. We took our house off the market, but she still refused to release us from the exclusive agreement. By this point, we had already moved to our new home and were paying two mortgages. With 2 small kids and 2 mortgages, we could not believe she would not allow us to quickly sell our home with another agent. After our exclusive agreement ran out, we listed with another agent. The agent did so much more to sell our house - I couldn't believe the difference. She held a broker's open (Ivy did not do that), created a website for our property, and a virtual walk through. Our house sold within 24 hours at $25k above ask - at the same listing price we had with Ivy. We also had a very busy open house with twice as many people as the first open house held with Ivy. There were warning signs from the beginning with Ivy that I wish I had trusted myself to pay more attention to, which I won't mention here because I do not want to write a novel. Bottom line was that Ivy could not sell a move-in ready beautiful townhome, priced aggressively, in a busy market. I would not recommend her. We just had a great experience with Keller Williams in the purchase of a home in Beacon Hill and cannot commend the team enough. We had seen most of the stock in our price range and had been looking a long time. Our buyer's agent had the local market knowledge necessary to identify a truly unique property while having the patience not to push us towards other less exciting, but tempting homes. We had great guidance through a competitive bidding situation and won the bid after the agent asked us to consider several strategic levers.
