Oh Jazz Kitchen! How in the world have I not given a review until now? This is my FAVORITE place to be on Thursday nights! Latin night at The Jazz Kitchen is where it's at! The vibe is pure joy. The dance community in Indy is strong and the most wonderful people show up to dance on Thursday nights. The whole restaurant was re-done during the pandemic and it's even more beautiful than it was before! More seating and bar space. They also have good food and drinks here. The jazz kitchen always offers powerful entertainment from everything to blues, jazz and gospel. Tonight we listened to a tribute to a legendary gospel group called the "Clark Sisters." The performance was very uplifting. The food here has a Cajun influence. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos with cilantro rice. The Tacos come with shrimp, house pico, sweet cajun slaw, fresh cilantro, creole mayo. The flavors mix well together and the tacos shell were double crunchy and held the contents together. The cilantro rice was a nice compliment to the tacos. The wife ordered the flat iron skirt steak salad. The steak was tender and well seasoned. The salad dressing had flavors of chimichurri and sweet red pepper sauce. A great date night spot! read more

I've enjoyed the Jazz Kitchen twice now, each time more impressed than the last. What I appreciate most is how respectful guests are of the artists; there's a no talking rule, and they mean it. Been going to jazz kitchen for years. As always I go to see entertainment, and I have never been let down. I really enjoyed the show. It was perfect. Our waitress was nice at the very beginning. She was very tentative but as the show went on, she never came to check on us only to bring us our checks. I do understand they get busy, but I think one check in when we recived our food would been great. I will still continue to go to Jazz kitchen love the food was perfect. I got the chocolate cake to the chocolate cake was OK. Not really worth the price. read more

If you have not been to the Jazz Kitchen over these last few months you are missing out! They have done an entire makeover throughout the location and I must say it is flawless! The Jazz Kitchen now has a more edgier sexier feel than before. Whether you're looking for a romantic date night, or cool evening with your girls (or guys), this is a location you will enjoy! I can't remember the drink I had, something tropical, but it was so refreshing I instantly felt transformed to an island. The food was spectacular too! I had the Cajun pasta, for those who don't eat meat you can NOT get it without chicken, which was annoying but the pasta was so flavorful I ended up not minding having to pick around the chicken. The last time I was there I ordered the white chocolate blueberry bread pudding........O M G!!!! It is AMAZING!!! They drizzle a warm caramel sauce over top and top it with a little whip cream and the first bite will have you dancing in your seat. The bread was soft and warm and then you get the occasional burst of blueberry!!!! I'm so sad I've tried this dessert because now I'm going to want it EVERYtime! My only regret is that I haven't visited this business sooner! We visited The Jazz Kitchen on Sunday night for a band showcase and our experience did not disappoint. Ambiance: Dimmed lighting, but comfortable and inviting. We sat in the main room by the stage, and I was happy to see so many other patrons in attendance. Such a fun atmosphere! Service: Super friendly service. Food: Everything we tried was delicious! Read the other reviews, but I found it great, and what makes it better than just "Good" is the value. The food and beverage prices aren't high. You can pay much more across the street. We saw Billy Cobham's latest band, and they were stellar. We had food, too, and it was great. Our friends had desserts (it was later) and I had an appetizer, and my date was very happy. The prices were not mind-numbing, and the service was great. There are "bowl" choices for those counting carbs, and I was impressed by the value. I expected before I came that I might feel robbed at the end, and I certainly did not. Prices are reasonable. The venue is very good for music (bring earplugs if you need them) and the mix was pro, too. A five star rating from me means you're at the top of your game, and that's how I feel about the Jazz Kitchen. I'll go more often, even though it's a heavy drive for us! read more

First time visit & it was Latin night! The overall experience was nice. This isn't really the place for a first date or to talk much amongst each other on a Thursday but the vibes are definitely there if you like to dance! I got the not-so-cajun chicken which was HOT when it came out. That's always a plus. My partner got the Churrasco Steak which was really good! Love love love this venue!!! We saw the amazingly talented, upcoming super star Tommy Baldwin here. He is the best guitar player I've heard - on par with superstars like Slash. This place is a really nice, upscale venue to listen to live music. We ordered wine & dessert here. We got a bottle of Campo Viejo from Spain. This was a really flavorful red wine that surprisingly paired well with our carrot cake. Let's talk about how amazing this carrot cake is from Jen. I don't know who Jen is, but we need to find her & get more cake LOL! The carrot cake was amazing!!! So moist, nutty, & packed with wonderful fall spices. It is topped with a really awesome cream cheese & a caramel sauce containing a hint of orange was drizzled on the plate, which really brightened the dessert & took it to a whole other level. Unfortunately we do not live in Indy, but I'm already dreaming of the next time we visit so I can return to Jazz Kitchen. We tried various foods, drinks, and desserts. Not pictured was the Crab Cakes, Tacos, Salmon, Not-So-Cajun Shrimp Pasta, Carrot Cake, Key Lime Pie, and Chocolate Cake. Very fun time attending Latin Night for the first time! Free street parking is available within easy walking distance! If you get there before 8, it's free to get in. Otherwise there is a cover charge after 8. The staff was very nice & attentive. I loved the free salsa lesson before the music started. I figured 30 minutes for a lesson would seem to last a while but it flew by. I was impressed with how much the instructors were able to teach in a short time. DJ was very fun & kept things upbeat. There were a lot of amazing Latin dancers but it's such a fun environment that I didn't feel self conscious that I wasn't an amazing dancer. It does get very hot very quickly. We left about 10:45 because we were all so hot & it was very crowded. I didn't get food but the menu looked amazing. read more

4 stars. We had a time last night!!! LOL The reviews made the food sound amazing, but the actual experience left ALOT to be desired. Out of the five entrees we enjoyed, the crab cakes were the only solid winner. The non-alcoholic drinks were more enjoyable than the spirited ones. Service is great before the show. Get there earlier so you can be finished before the show begins to truly enjoy your dining experience. But the venue is fantastic! Every seat is a good one. No need for VIP seating. The best table is in the back left in the corner. It's elevated and out of the way. Parking is decent as long as you arrive early. Street parking is convenient. Can't wait to get back there for another performance! I'll be sure to eat, first. read more

Saturday evening I had the pleasuring of seeing Clint Breeze & the Groove with a friend at the Jazz Kitchen, my first experience. I love this space. It's definitely a vibe -- low lite, intimate cocktail lounge, sink into your seat and melt into the music kind of vibes I didn't have the pleasure of enjoying the food so I will update this review once I do but most of the bartenders were great contributors to the vibe set by the atmosphere and the band. Returned to Jazz Kitchen for Billy Cobham's Crosswinds Project and cannot believe I had forgotten how delicious everything is! My uncle was in town visiting for the show and we started with the Grilled Shrimp. I'm not sure what the seasoning is that they use but it is addictive and incredible! We easily could've kept eating more and more shrimp! I had the Not-So-Cajun Shrimp Pasta and was ecstatic to find the same delectable seasoning and flavor to the shrimp and pasta overall! The Espresso Martinis we're going down so smooth with the amazing music that the food almost put me into a trance! Hoping for another great show to be in town to reprise the meal! read more

My sister and brother-in-law were out from California and we wanted a fun treat for them. Wow! Oliver Nelson Jr was at the Jazz Kitchen playing a lot of his father's music. They did not disappoint!! Not was the music incredible, but Jazz Kitchen serves food that's over the top good. I had the barbecue glazed pork chop and loved it. My wife had the walnut-crusted salmon and ahe also was delighted. I plan on watching Jazz Kitchen's website and returning to enjoy their various musicians. This place is great! Doors open at 5pm for the 7pm show for people who want to eat first. You can eat during the show but it looked like most people were finished before the music started. There is no bad seat- you can see and hear from everywhere as it is a small intimate venue. I went with 7 other ladies. Overall everyone thought the food was great. One person did think their burger was too dry particularly as there was no ketchup, mustard or relish or mayo on it. I was told the crab cakes were okay but she probably wouldn't get them again. Also $16 for two small crab cakes was a bit high. I ordered the fried shrimp tacos. They were quite good although the shrimp was really chopped up. There was a nice sauce with a bit of a kick that I appreciated. I would definitely order it again. Drink prices were reasonable. It was difficult to find our waiter to order another drink or try to get something but the runners they had were amazing. The runners were a steady stream- delivering food and picking up empty dishes and glassware. The music was wonderful as always. I really appreciate that management has signs saying no talking and to turn off phones before the performance. I believe they also have a lounge that does not require a reservation or admittance fee - you just can't see the performers. Double check me on that. read more

I came here and was having a blast listening to and watching Josh Kauffman. We enjoyed food, drinks and music with friends. It was a very good time. I would suggest not getting here late. Show up on time. There is a $15 minimum order so come and plan to have a drink and a bite. If you plan to eat here before the show, you'll hit your minimum and be here on time. I don't like that I haven't gone to the Jazz Kitchen in sick a long time because I always enjoy my time there. I was attending a show by a friend of mine in a Saturday, and was reminded how much of a gem this place is. The food is ALWAYS excellent - doesn't matter what you get. The menu is slightly limited and they've removed a few things, but that really didn't matter to me. The vibe is vey intimate. It's a great date night place - intimate and just all around fun. Tip: if you sit in the lounge area, try to get a seat positioned to where you see the stage. Otherwise, you'll be watching the performers on the tv. You won't be far from them, just not close. Rating? Food was great. Service was great. Music was great. We sat in the bar area. Did not have reservations which was fine. Sat in a booth. Here is my problem. The tables have a card that says "no talking during the show please". Okay I get that and respect that. However the stage is is literally 30 yards from where we are sitting, in the bar area, with loud jazz. Just my wife and me having dinner. Lo and behold here comes the "Noise Nancy". Mind you, she is sitting in the foyer a good 10 feet from us. Why in the hell are you coming over to us say you can hear us having a conversation about what to eat and no talking! Ma'am, please leave us alone! Then you come back and tell the couple next to us the same thing. WE ARE LITERALLY SITTING NEXT TO THEM AND CAN NOT HEAR THEM! Ma'am, please use the same energy to the other tables that are clearly talking so loud we can hear them but you failed to address them. It be your own people. Needless to say that put a 1 star. We were not loud, yo ass was just ear hustling. Decibels off the chart and you got bionic ears. Smdh. read more

YES to this place. Not only do they have great food (veggie bowl 10/10) they have amazing live music and entertainment. I am slowly becoming a regular here every Thursday night for Latin night. There is a dance lesson around 8 I believe, and then open dance floor. It is legit Latin dancing with amazing music, and everyone is friendly. It had a been a minute since I've been in. First off the show was amazing. Good stuff for a Wednesday night with SoulShine entertaining. I started with a lemon ginger vodka drink. Very refreshing. I had the crab cakes appetizer. They were pretty good but seemed a little bland and dry. The sauces were nice. I chose the vegan bowl with grilled shrimp. The roasted red peppers and quinoa were great AHS the shrimp really made it a big dish. I took enough home for lunch the next day. We shared a brownie for dessert.
