The front desk representative was extremely rude. I had to remind her that I was a customer. She appeared focused on her computer and showed no enthusiasm in welcoming customers or even asking why they had come in. I understand that everyone has difficult days, but even on a bad day, basic courtesy and professionalism go a long way. Customers are the reason the business exists, and it doesn't take much effort to greet people respectfully and make them feel welcome. If someone is unhappy in their role, it may be worth exploring other opportunities rather than taking that frustration out on customers. read more

I would recommend you stay far away from this place. During the initial visit, they take their time with you. They ask questions, and do all sorts of adjusting and stretches. They really convince you that you will be getting quality care. But once you pay for the membership, it's all down hill. They have a few chiropractors there that don't seem to care much about the patient. They'll do just a quick crack of the back and tell you to get on your way. They don't ask about where you've been experiencing pain, they just want you to get in and get out so they can go back to playing solitaire or whatever they do. Cancellation is a nightmare. I had to call many times and leave voicemails because it seems that nobody is ever at the desk to pick up the phone. Finally they just sent me an email with how to cancel rather than calling me back. I would say spend a little more and go to a real chiropractor who cares, or better yet, go to a trained physical therapist. The only bright spot to this location is Dr. Gail. If I could give zero stars, I would. First of all, this location has serious plumbing issues the entire place smells like sewage, which is extremely off-putting. Secondly, the one chiropractor (not Dr. David) on site was incredibly rude. He seemed visibly annoyed to see a customer waiting outside just a few minutes after opening. Like another reviewer mentioned, he claimed he didn't have access to the new patient paperwork. He even admitted, "I'll be honest with you, this location has poor office staff," and said he wasn't sure if anyone else was going to show up that day. He actually encouraged me to go to the Carmel Mountain location instead. Third, his initial questions felt more like an interrogation than a patient intake. If The Joint is a franchise, I strongly suggest they find a more professional and courteous chiropractor for this location. With the way things are being run, it's only a matter of time before this place shuts down. I'm so glad I took that terrible doctors advice and went to Carmel Valley. Dr. Ray was amazing! It's such a bummer to have to drive 16 minutes to a location for kind, quality service when you have a location within walking distance. Note: I am massage therapist. Please consider my review to be one written by someone who is not only a patient, but also a peer: Dr. Dennis Tso is so thorough, and so SKILLED. What an absolute talent. I came here about a month ago, with a pretty complex issue (an old injury. my femur slipped out of my hip joint.) I had seen three different chiropractors before coming to him, and none gave me any relief. After my first session with Dr. Tso, I felt IMMEDIATE relief. My hip, as I said, is a complex issue. One session did not solve the issue, but it gave me RELIEF. My pain was reduced by about 50-60%, which is better than I could have hoped for. After the swelling went down the next day (a lot of nerves and soft tissue involved in my case...nerves that had been getting pinched and rubbed raw for about a month), my pain was about 75% better than before I went in. I no longer had numbness or tingling in the front of my hip, or in my toes. I immediately bought a membership, because I knew my hip would need weekly adjustments for a little while, so I figured I'd come in every Sunday (the days he is there). The next Sunday, he was out of office. Someone else adjusted me, and man...that really screwed me up. It brought me right back to square one...my leg dangling out of the socket, tons of pain, totally unstable. It sucked. I almost went back the next day to have someone put me back together, but I didn't want to embarass the person who gave me the adjustment, so...I went to a different location. Found someone great there, and have been doing well with those adjustments. FINALLY, today...I was free on a Sunday again, and high-tailed it to see Dr. Tso. WOW. What a difference. The adjustments I have gotten at the other location are very good, but Dr. Tso is not just good, or very good. Dr. Tso is GREAT. Dr. Tso is STELLAR. He takes his time. He works with your soft tissue. His methods are unique, and EFFECTIVE. He is a true master of his art, and I wish more chiropractors would take such an interest in honing their craft, the way he clearly has. Take those seminars. Go to continuing ed classes. Hell, watch youtube videos on new techniques. ANYTHING. I've had so many generic chiropractic visits in my life. Dr. Tso delivers something totally different. I went to bed just fine but when I woke up it hurts to turn my head and my right shoulder felt sore. My mom and my sister suggest that I see a chiropractor and highly recommend Dr. Robert Farrell. New patients fill-up a form and get a plastic key ring card to swipe for each visit. Mae the receptionist was very helpful in scheduling appointments and explaining the different plans they offer. Dr. Farrell is very pleasant and funny. He asked a few questions regarding the pain and checked my range of motion. I was then asked to lie down; after a few cracks and pops I felt relieved and was able to turn my head, there's still pain of course... but I was surprised how getting an adjustment can immediately help relieve the pain in my neck and improve mobility. I really came on here for one reason only and it's to write a bad review on one of the doctors. I never got his full last name but he's Dr. P something. I think he's a sub. Because the usual doctors I have, Dr Simmons and Dr Tso, are FANTASTIC. They always take their time with me and actually listen and address my issues. This sub doctor tho literally sucks! He will ignore my issues and just continue on his "routine" and totally half ass-ing it at that. It's like he just always wants to get over it. AND he's aggressive in moving me into the right positions. AVOID HIM AT ALL COST. I wish I got his name. I had him a few times (on the days Dr Simmons usually is in). I don't come all the way here and drop money on a package for some sucky ass adjustments. I give him a zero star. When I walked in the lady did not even greet me, after a minute of silence and me standing there she stated "we're fully booked for the day". I was like okay great customer service....I usually go to the Carmel mountain one and they're always able to take me in even 15 mins before closing. I went to do a walk in appointment at the Mira mesa office last weekend, Jan 29th. As I was walking up to the door the cheep paper mask I had broke. I didn't have another face covering. As the door opened the receptionist yelled at me to put on a mask! I asked if she was able provided one as my mask just broke. Then She began to lecture me on covid, the importance of masks and how everyone trying to survive, ect. All before even offering me a mask.... Once present with a mask I promptly put it on. Yet she continued her lecture. Almost another 5 minutes before asking my name, what I wanted, or even checking me in to the system. Once she finally released I wasn't arguing with her as I hadn't said anything since asking for the mask. The receptionist finally asked "now what do you want, do you want to be seen?" I should have said no and walked away but I was in pain, so I simply said "yes." Finally she asked for my information to check me in. Intentionally Butchering the pronunciation of my name, as her last chance to get a rouse out of me. Finally finished checking me in and said I would be next even though there were people in there waiting before me. Now comes The worst part, the so-called doctor, ask what was bothering me but never actually listened to what I said was bothering me. The doctor just did a routine neck adjustment. I tried to tell him that the pain was lower, between my shoulders blade. The doctor told to put an ice pack on it, as he was done. As I got up to walk out, I noticed that the other people who were there before me was leaving. I should have left before the "Adjustment." Hopefully the other 2 people over hurd the Dr and decided against the membership. If I left I probably wouldn't be in more pain now. All I have to say is thanks for the unwanted lecture and the advice about the ice like I didn't think of that already. Mark my words I will never be going back to this office in Mira mesa. The office in Carmel mountain is much more friendly. Even still I will be cancelling my membership ASAP. I am also going to find a real doctor that will work with insurance and keep records. read more

I've been a Joint customer for well over 5 years and have visited multiple locations in multiple states. I've had memberships in the past, and most recently I've been going in occasionally for one-time adjustments as needed. The experience I had at this Joint was my worst yet, and the only one I feel compelled to leave a negative review for. I was suffering from neck pain that was bad enough I needed to have my wife drive me in. We made it there about 50 minutes before the location closed. When I walked in, the receptionist was chatting with a customer who had already checked out, so I took a seat for a few minutes and waited for my turn. After that customer left I was the only remaining patient there. I approached the receptionist and explained that I came in for a one-time adjustment. She responded in a really rude tone: "Well, if you're a new patient, you have to come in 45 minutes before we close." I look at the clock - it's now about 44 minutes before they close... and the only reason she got to me 44 minutes before they closed instead of 46 or 47 minutes before they closed, was because she spent several minutes chatting with the last customer. This really rubbed me the wrong way. Now look, I'm not a new customer at the Joint by any stretch of the imagination(I'm not sure why she assumed that I was), and therefore could still get the adjustment done. Here's the thing though- What if I was a new patient? I'll answer that for you. If I was a new patient, your receptionist would have told me to leave because I tried to check in one minute "late", even though the office was empty. And why would I have been checking in one minute late? Because your receptionist wasted at least 3 minutes chatting with the previous customer. It disgusts me that your receptionist was so callous about turning away someone who was clearly in pain, and for what? Because they're one minute outside the threshold... which was the receptionists fault anyway? I think I made my point. I finished getting checked in and went back for my adjustment. It was pretty obvious to the Chiropractor that I wasn't very happy at the time, but he handled the situation really well, and also gave me a really good adjustment. I've been to many different chiropractors who use different styles and techniques, and can tell you that he knows what he's doing when it comes to manual adjustments. Unfortunately, I don't want to have to see your receptionist ever again, so I won't be returning. Someone who cares this little about other people might want to work in an industry other than healthcare. Both stars are for the DC and nothing else. read more

Coming back from Costa Rica with a bad back....... I usually go to Dr. Farrell and he is awesome but today he was not in. Always a quick visit, but quick visits need not be unprofessional and without satisfaction. Dr. Farrell asks what is wrong and points out also what he finds, he teaches you exercises you can do at home and prepares you to be adjusted so that the adjustment works each and every time. I was taken by Dr. Yesen - middle aged lady (hopefully I have the spelling right) and please beware... you will not be able to compare nicely to Dr. Farrell. Unfortunately, I had the worst chiropractic experience. Reasons why: 1. My experience was too quick (so was my friend's who went with me). It took less than two minutes. 2. She asked what was wrong (she should be checking what was wrong as well but never did). She tried to get my lower back and it would not adjust (never had this issue) 3. She asked "Anything else" - That is strange..but I figured I am not going to walk away paying for nothing so I said my neck. She tried to adjust my neck TWICE to the point where it did hurt. I have NEVER had anyone not be able to adjust my neck. She told me I was resisting (I was not). Her technique was off. She pulled out an instrument (what I later was told was the activator) and used it on my neck without permission. I have never had that done, and if any instrument is being used , any patient should be informed of this and what it does. 4. She was able to get my hips but that was after wrestling with her how I should be placed on the table. Any professional knows the right positions and words to be used to place the patient properly on the table. On top of that, it did take 3 tries before I was able to be adjusted. And that was my two minute visit. Overall - a very unsatisfying, unsafe experience with Dr. Yesen. On top of that, she seemed like she hated her job. On the other hand, Mae was kind and offered to hear me out and made sure I did not pay for something I did not receive. So this 3 stars is for the overall experience, no stars to Dr. Yesen and 5 stars to Mae. read more

I was a patient at this office for a decent amount time, and recently made the decision to cancel my membership. One of the doctors that was supposed to just be a temp. ended up being a consistent face to see. The doctor is rude, and way too physically aggressive/forceful. I didn't say anything the first 2 times seeing him, but then when I did end up saying something to him he mocked me the remainder of my visit. I asked him when the other doctors would be back, his response was "I'm here today!". I told him I see that, but my question was when the other doctors would be back. His response to that was "I will be here today and tomorrow.", so at this point I was going to just give up and ask the coordinator. The next thing out of his mouth, without me saying a word, was "What, you don't like me?"... that is so unprofessional in my opinion. I told him that no, I honestly don't like him, that every time I come in while he is there that I leave in more pain than I arrived with. He said "Well thats all you had to say!".. He then during the visit after every 'crack/pop' he would say "how did that feel?", "did that hurt?", and "was that okay?" with such a condescending tone to his voice, that came across as mocking me. That same day after my visit, I froze my account to think about whether or not I wanted to continue going here. I also sent a message to corporate about said doctor. After 2 weeks of not hearing back from corporate, (the page stated they would get back to you in 24-48hrs) I decided I would cancel my membership entirely, and be done with this company. SO, I went into the office this past Friday (4/22) and filled out the cancellation paperwork. The coordinator stated that she would input that information right away, that my membership will be immediately canceled. I looked at my bank statement yesterday and see that I was charged the $79 for a membership. I called them 3 times yesterday, even left a voicemail, with no response back by any means. I called them again this morning, still no answer. So I go in to the office to talk to them face to face, yet for what ever reason the coordinator is not in today. That being said, if they do not answer the phone tomorrow, I will be calling my bank and disputing the charge for fraud. If there was some form of cancellation fee, I was not informed of it. I also wouldn't find it justifiable to charge me, when they are the literal reason for my cancellation. ((SN;; When I went in to cancel my membership the coordinator said herself that there are many complaints on this doctor, and that patients will turn around and walk back out if he was the doctor of the day.)) read more

My boyfriend and I just stopped in and found out they also have a first timers deal. Well to put it short, It was informational, the chiro was nice and easy going. He did a great job with adjusting us and giving Info we never knew the whole time. He gave us exercises to help our problem areas. I'm definitely going back. They are walk-in only and have many locations. Being a barber this monthly program will help me get adjustments for cheap. Win win. read more

What a great experience! My boyfriend is a mechanic and as such goes through repetitive physical stress to perform his job. He had been having severe lower back pain for the passed month so we decided to check out The Joint. The receptionist was kind, the doctor was to-the-point and obviously a master of his craft; within about half an hour w/ some cryptic (to me!) muscle/skeletal work, the pain was resolved! I can't say how happy I am with the work they did. The staff got us signed up w/ a monthly plan to keep his back in good shape. Did I mention that they're super affordable?
