This place is the spot for BBQ. Although, New Orleans is not really meant to be known for their barbecue this place is a must-try location. The restaurant is small but quaint however it does include a bar which is awesome! the prices are very fair considering the deliciousness of every single food item they offer. If you are a fan of smoked meats this is the spot. They're baked beans and potato salad are the best sides. My absolute favorite is there beef brisket! It is so tasty and moist it just melts in your mouth. The ribs and the pool park are high contenders as well as they both have the most delicious Smoky taste and melts in-your-mouth. during my short stay in Nola I had to come back here one last time before coming home. 100% my favorite dining spot from my 6 days in New Orleans. Born and raised in North Carolina, I have intense feelings about barbecue. Before traveling to NOLA I had done lots of research and The Joint came across many searches. We decided to try it. Nestled in the Bywater neighborhood, which is so fun in itself, The Joint has a quaint appearance. I ordered the brisket and 1/4 chicken, because I really just couldn't decide. Everything we ordered was amazing. The baked Mac and cheese was heaven sent. The brisket was smoked to absolute perfection. The cool crunchy slaw paired great with the smoky pulled pork. The food was good and this place is really fun. We were sitting outside on the patio and it started to rain really hard. The rain coming down on the tin roof was lots of fun and made the entire experience a total 5 star night. Everything was yummy and for the most part the service was great. There was a lady that was really rude, we heard another table taking about the lady and we too were talking about the lady. She was super rude but still all and all we had a great time. If you really want good tasting BBQ with a bit of a spice, then The Joint is the best place in town. I had the half rack ribs that were so cooked to perfection that they fell off the bone and she had the beef brisket that was also cooked to perfection. If you eat it as it comes out of the kitchen it might taste a little underwhelming, but once you add their signature barbecue sauce, the flavors come bursting out. We also got the macaroni and cheese, the coleslaw, and the potato salad. I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw or the mac & cheese, but the potato salad was really good. Best ribs I ever ate! The house sauce is also fantastic. We ordered corn muffins and salad as our sides. Both were very high quality. The salad dressing was housemade and the corn muffins were crunchy on the outside and had a nice, not too sweet flavor. The chicken was less flavorful than the ribs, but perfectly cooked. I have been going to The Joint for BBQ for 3 years and it is my favorite BBQ place in the city; so of course it gets 5 stars. The brisket here is some of the most smoky and flavorful brisket I have ever had. They don't use an especially fatty brisket and they trim it very well (which I appreciate) but they still find a way to keep it tender and moist. The crust in the brisket is good but not the star, the meat itself is the star, it is smoky with an amazing depth of flavor (just look at the smoke rings in the pic, how do they do that??). Also, the potato salad is some of the best i have ever had, they use quite a bit of a special Dijon mustard making it some of the most flavorful and unique potato salad (it would go great with a cup of gumbo also!). I have had BBQ in Texas and I would say the Joint is the most comparable in the city and stands up to some of the best Texas Joints as well! read more

Who comes to New Orleans for bbq?! I would probably say questionable however I was pleasantly surprised. We actually Ubered there and our Uber driver recommend us not to go against better judgment we decided to follow our gut --literally. We shared a platter and it was so flavorful. The brisket was seasoned so well and the ribs were fall off the bones. The sauce had a good vinegar heat which is my favorite the Mac and cheese was pretty good as well as the potato salad it was very "dilly". They had a full bar and a coke machine because soda w bbq is magic. We did a lot of research getting the best BBQ in NOLA. This place had great reviews and decent prices so we ended up here. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere and away from down town which made it more of an adventure. The atmosphere is definitely quirky and the whole place smells like bbq. It wasn't packed when we walked in which was nice (we were also there at an odd lunch hour, about 3pm). The rib meat fell right off the bone and had a great flavor. Some bits were chewy, but that's typical. The Mac n cheese was great: heavy, cheesy, and homemade. The quantities were huge so splitting multiple things was slightly challenging. One odd thing was that while we were sitting looking at the menu, we did have a waitress come up and explain that tables were reserved for people who have already ordered. This place has amazing smoked meat and sides...I also need to say we are from Texas and have had some great BBQ in our lives. But, we recently moved to NOLA and have been here twice already. Have tried most of the menu and everything is mouthwatering. But one weekend, we called in our order and they said they happened to have a pastrami sandwich that day on special. The portion size is awesome and it came with two sides. I got the mac'n'cheese and baked beans. Everything was excellent. They offer their signature BBQ sauce and several other sauces including 2 pepper sauces. The baked beans were unique and had a great pepper flavor. You know that BBQ joint from House of Cards? This place kind of gave off that similar hometown, blue collar, BBQ joint tucked away off the beaten path vibe. Nothing fancy about the food -- what you see is what you get. And what I got was the best BBQ I've ever had. My fiancee and I were down in New Orleans for a few days and stopped by the Joint based on the strength of reviews from our beloved Yelpers. We shared a three meat plate (brisket, pulled pork, and sausage) with two sides (potato salad and beans), for a more-than-reasonable $17.95 (!!!!). The brisket was the shining star of this plate and could be eaten alone if you wanted (without their exquisite, light, playful, vinegary BBQ sauce). Hot off the smoky grill, it melts in your mouth and makes you want to forget about every piece of meat you've ever eaten before. The pulled pork? Fine. The sausage? Unremarkable. I would have been happy just eating the brisket with a bowl of the delightful potato salad. Just for reference, we loved this place so much, we drove through and picked up two pounds of brisket on our way out for the road. They included a bowl of BBQ sauce and even gave us ice to pack our cooler (thanks, guys!). This will be the first place I go the next time I'm in New Orleans again. 10/10 would eat this meat again. It took us over an hour to get here from the French Quarter, due to the #88 bus running behind, but it was definitely worth it! I am a connoisseur of smoked meats, dabbling with my own smoker in the backyard, and as soon as we turned the corner and the smell hit us, I knew we had come to the right place! As is our tradition when we travel to find a Food Network spot, we traveled off of the beaten path to get here. Definitely a "locals" joint - there was a table full of NOLA police on their lunchbreak in the back. We both ordered the brisket sandwich with a side green salad (our trip had had a distinct lack of veggies, so it was a refreshing change). I expected a bit larger sandwich for the price, but what it lacked in quantity it made up for in quality. There are sauces on the table, but you won't need anything to dress these sandwiches. So moist and tender, they just melt in your mouth. OMG... You could feed this to your baby or to your grandpa who forgot his teeth...but you won't, because it's really too good to share (Grandpa can get his own sandwich!). This is a great order-at-the-counter, served-at-the-table place. The menu is typical barbecue, but the food is really good. And that's coming from a South Carolinian. We KNOW our barbecue. The burnt ends where cooked well with a very flavorful sauce. The chicken had a spice rub on the outside that had your taste buds standing up to get more. The sides were slaw a d baked beans. The slaw was crisp and crunchy. The baked beans had lots of meat in them and had a good flavor. My Son had the brisket sandwich with mac and cheese side. The brisket had a good flavor and was even better when you add the warm sauce they brought tho the table. Mac and cheese tasted home made with a rich cheese flavor that melts in your mouth.
