We are happy each time we visit. No frills, no pretension, just great food and even better service. Watching the staff banter back and forth is probably my favorite-but the food, girl the food is top notch comfort food. The shrimp po'boy has me wanting to go back. The omelettes, the pecan pie on the grill with melted butter-stop it. You can't find better food. I said it. Thanks again for a great experience!

Camellia's is an institution. Old school diner with friendly vibes, well except for the cashier, who I felt didn't care if you ate here or not. Or server was very friendly when we grabbed two seats at the long curvy counter. It does get a little tight in the corners. The guy next to me and I bumped each other a couple of times. I ordered the gumbo which came with a scoop of rice. Yo ordered the pecan waffle, and we shared. The gumbo was just what I imagined, a big bowl of comfort and love. The pecan waffle was nice and crispy! I loved the already melted butter and it was my first time having cane syrup. This was a great place to grab a meal or snack. It also looks like a lot of locals frequent it. Definitely worth checking out.

Great place to start your day or end your night. This is a classic Nola diner that stays in my rotation. The lines are often long and for good reason. Waiters are funny and entertaining so you get a little dinner and a show. My go to is the chefs special. It's very filling, meaty, and delicious. If you're not in the mood for breakfast they also do phenomenal burgers.

Make sure to get there super early! We got there before 11 on a Friday and still had a wait. I don't remember waiting this long in the past, but it's been a while since I've eaten there. I got a delicious Greek omelet with hash browns and coffee. Same consistently good food. The only thing that spoiled our lunch was another patron who thought it was okay to have a Bluetooth speaker in his backpack blaring awful music directly in our direction. My SO didn't want me to go speak with the man who seated us, so we were resigned to being deafened by really, really bad music. I was surprised that none of the workers asked him to turn it down or turn it down.

Camellia Grill never disappoints. It's usually packed with hungry patrons, so don't go if you can't sit next to a stranger at the diner style counter. I'm a sucker for a breakfast Poboy. In my opinion, Camellia Grill has the best one around. I like to chase it down with a piece of pecan pie that they warm up on the grill. I highly recommend Camellia grill for breakfast or brunch anytime.

Great spot for breakfast or lunch near Oak Street. Old school counter restaurant with quick service and large portions for a fair price. They sat us in a couple minutes and had our orders out in 10 minutes. Everything from eggs to gumbo to waffles to burgers. The staff is all dressed up in black ties and are very polite and friendly.

Chef's special omelet with chili. YUM!

I've been coming here for over 50 years and nothing changes, ever. And in some cases that's good, as it is at this NOLA institution. It's absolutely a 'greasy spoon' type establishment, but indeed a cherished one. There's only counter seating and at times it gets tight between seats, creating an often communal atmosphere with fellow diners. It's not unusual for conversation to strike up which adds to the enjoyment. The place looks like something out of the 1930s or 40s. Service is friendly and attentive and they do keep it moving along. In my experience there may be a blip here or there, but when it happens they get on it. Today I had the Chef's special omelet with chili. It's a massive thing with many of the usual "everything" breakfast ingredients plus a huge amount of delicious chili on top They ask if you want the chili. It's enough of a meal to last the day. Along with it I had a side order of the absolutely creamy and delicious grits. My dining partner had the waffle and bacon that were apparently "OK", nothing special. Accompanying my meal I had piping hot coffee... and, overall the meal was very satisfying, matching the classic atmosphere.

Another iconic New Orleans classic, perfect for breakfast or lunch. Expect a line, but the service is energetic and welcoming. If you have the chance, ride the streetcar from the CBD to get there. We enjoyed a classic breakfast--eggs with bacon and coffee and a side of cheesy grits. The total cost for two, including tip, was $38

Absolutely classic New Orleans spot has been a go to for years and will continue to be. Staff is always super friendly and who doesn't love the classic diner feel. One of my favorite burgers ever, just timeless.

After reading so many great reviews & realizing I was in the neighborhood, I decided to walk to Camellia's last night where I was greeted with nothing but smiles and great energy. I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich and mac & cheese to go, walked 20 minutes to my home and it was absolutely delicious, It hit all the spots & the kind of mac & cheese also that I have been craving all week. You even get to watch the food being made right in front of you, my compliments to the chef and the kind gentlemen who helped me, especially Chad. There is also a lovely hostess with a beautiful smile, waiting to help you get seated somewhere. If you're in the neighborhood or in town and you need some good Diner eats, then I'd absolutely recommend you stop by this place, it's right along the street car path and very convenient. I plan on coming back for the pecan pie! P.S. the Mac and cheese doesn't come with black pepper, I just added it.

For entrées we had Banana Foster Pain Perdu, Side of Duck Bacon, Hashbrown, 100% Seafood Gumbo and Fried Catfish. Everything was seasoned to perfection and hot!!! Last but definitely not least are the Cocktails which were very good. Try the Cold Brew Martini if you like iced coffee type drinks and also try the Strawberry Lemon drop for a sweet treat. Both taste great and have a nice amount of spirits in them. This is a must try in NOLA. Will definitely return!!

Both were outstanding. The Bananas Foster French Toast was rich, indulgent, and packed with flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet. The bananas and sauce were the perfect complement to the French toast, making it feel like a New Orleans dessert and breakfast all in one. The Boudin Breakfast Biscuit was equally impressive. The biscuit was fresh and flaky, and the boudin added a delicious Cajun flavor that set it apart from a typical breakfast sausage. Every bite was savory, satisfying, and uniquely Louisiana. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it's easy to see why Surrey's has such a loyal following. The hashbrowns were very crispy and seasoned well, so I loved them, as soggy hashbrowns are a major pet peeve of mine. The chicken biscuit was good, but I'm not 100% sure it was to my taste. It was massive and very hard to eat, and there was a lot of fried chicken skin. The mayo on the sandwich was definitely homemade and had a very strong egg flavor, so I would go without that next time. The biscuit was probably the best biscuit I've ever had. We checked into our nearby hotel a bit early in the day and was looking to hit the streets for a spot to get a chill/light breakfast, a coffee and maybe a cocktail. We found all the things at Luzianne Cafe. Whether you belly up to the bar or grab a table, both of which are first come first serve, you start at the counter where you order, pay and grab your table number. It appears that during busy times they allow you to sit first and order from the QR at your table, this is an assumption given the code to order at the table, but the sign at the entry directed folks to the counter to order before sitting. For breakfast, we got the breakfast biscuit which came with eggs, bacon and cheese, and sided it with grits. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside. To go with our breakfast, I got a cold brew with a splash of almond milk while my partner embraced NOLA and started his day with a bourbon sour. Both of us enjoyed our choices! Service was friendly and helpful at the counter/bar. The food runner was nice and then another member, assuming the Manager, that stopped by to check on us mid meal. She was super friendly and nice.
