She was so F-ing vain with her tattered up body and foul mouth she screamed out "you f-I got tourists, you oughta ask before you snap a photo of someone.!!!!!! (It's like I've lived here before she was born, but her trashy Bettie Paige punk look clearly shows that she has Münchausen syndrome and I wish she would get a sex change just so I could beat her ass.) Fun ambience, beyond friendly staff and yummy food! Smells amazing as soon as you step out of the car. Food comes out fast. Loved the pulled pork sandwich (threw some pickles and slaw on it!), brisket and cornbread! Drinks are yummy too. If you're a fan of lime + frozen drinks, the Bella Donna is awesome! Note, they are NOT open on Sundays. PARKING: There is plenty of street parking as it is located in a random neighborhood. We found some right in front. WAIT: They open at 11:30 but by the time we got there around 11:15 there were already people lining up outside. By the time we got let in ordering took some time as there was only one cashier. There is a bar area where you can sit down right away and order but since we had a large group we snagged one of the few tables inside. ATMOSPHERE: The inside is small with wooden benches and a lot of decor on the walls, it's very fun and lively inside. You can go outside where there are more tables and the bathrooms. You order first then sit down and they call your name and bring the food to you. It didnt take much for the food to come out, maybe 5 or so minutes. FOOD: I got the W special with 2 sides but I think 1 side would have been plenty. I think the total is $13 with 1 side dish. It comes with 2 ribs, 3 slices of brisket and a helping of the pulled pork. The meat does not come with any sauce but at the table there was a vinegar-y sauce, bbq sauce and a spicy habanero sauce. Their sauces are very watery, but has a tangy type taste. Not bad, but the bbq actually didnt even need it to taste good. Brisket was fatty and tasty, each bite had a little bit of fat in it. Ribs were also very good. Fall off the bone and had their own flavor and taste despite not having any sauce to go with it. Pulled pork was pretty tender but not the best I've had - I probably could have stuck with the 2 meat combo. Mac n Cheese - SO good. Decided to venture to this place when my crew and I were craving some BBQ near but outside of the French Quarter. Prices are fair for the food - each plate comes with two sides. I had the pulled pork with mac and cheese and cole slaw. Everything tasted delicious. The meat was especially yummy with the brown sauce they provide at each table. Tried the beef brisket as well and it melts in your mouth. Their homemade lemonade was really good. Then one of my friends ordered a slice of their peanut butter cheesecake... holy shit. I'm not even a big cheesecake or pb fan, but it tasted incredible. Their bathroom is also surprisingly nice, although just 1 per gender. My only complaint is that the place is small so it was a bit inconvenient to wait around in the middle of the restaurant for a table to clear. It started to rain but the majority of the tables outside weren't under any cover. However, we were still able to sit down before our meal was ready. Folks I'm from Texas and take the art of smoking meat serious; this place is BBQ GOLD! Now try everything either in plate or sandwich form. The brisket and ribs are my favorite. Brisket is always tender with a beautiful smoke ring and a perfect "sugar cookie". The sides are the same you would see in other BBQ places but they add their own spin. The potato is a true German potato salad and the coleslaw is all about the vinegar cider! The decor like NOLA and the Bywater is funky reaffirming that the Food is as unique as the city. Ps. I was told they were out of Mac and chose another side. As I waited for my order another (differnt race) customer order mac and cheese. I decided to try The Joint after a quick search on yelp. I ordered the 2 meat combo with Ribs and Brisket with Macaroni and cheese and also ate some of my friend's pulled pork and beans. Ribs: Delicious! Fall off the bone, moist and tons of flavor. Cooked to perfection. They cook their ribs with dry rub Memphis style which is how I prefer it. Their ribs are pretty meaty. Brisket: Very flavorful and not dry. Again cooked to perfection with the outside slightly burnt for the perfect crunchiness. Pulled Pork: Seasoned perfectly. Nice and juicy. Mac and Cheese: I actually thought it was just alright. It's a little bland but saturated with cheese which makes it a little heavy for my taste. Beans: Pretty good. Its hard to make beans taste amazing but I preferred it over the mac and cheese. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Overall, best BBQ place in town. My buddy (and fellow yelper) Michael recommended we check out the Joint during our recent trip to NOLA, and after a few days of 24/7 fried seafood, BBQ sounded like a pleasant break. Boy oh boy, pleasant doesn't even come close to describing the perfection that is eating at the Joint. The ribs are perfect and the burnt ends are savory heaven! Literally some of the best BBQ I've ever had, and I've had a LOT of BBQ. Not only was the meat to die for, but even the green salad with homemade smoked tomato and onion dressing was insane! The homemade hot sauce was so good we bought a bottle to go. And the bloody mary? Made with the homemade vinegar based BBQ sauce as the mixer was INCREDIBLE. Combine absolutely perfect food with a down-home atmosphere and super friendly service and you have, what we found to be, the literal best restaurant in New Orleans. If I could give it lower stars I would. The food was mediocre or ordinary-- not what I remember eating over the past 16 years, but even the best of the best lose steam! This however felt like a complete shut down. Paid $63, their receipt shows a total lower. Horrible, un-Southern Hospitality attitude at the door, aloofness elsewhere. The service was ... no but TRASH. And I left wondering if it was classism, racism, or some deviated hatred of locals? Awesome little bbq Joint!!! Would never have found this place if not for my daughter in law sending me a vid on Facebook. What a great find as it is in an out of the way neighborhood in New Orleans. When they say fall of the bone tenderness they are not joking. We had the pork ribs with potato salad and bbq beans for our sides. The beans had chunks of pork in it and just the right hint of sweetness. the potato salad was tasty too. This is by far the Best bbq I've had in a while, and I didn't need to add any bbq sauce so I could enjoy the smoky flavor all by itself. No lie...this is a must try! I've had this place bookmarked for months and never made it in to try this food that everyone raves about. I finally make it in and try the pulled pork with Mac &cheese and baked beans. It. Was. Phenomenal. I LOVE BBQ. The Joint lived up to their great reputation. I went to eat with a friend that ordered chicken and BURNT ENDS; he let me try the burnt ends and when I say the taste that was the best tasting bbq meat I've ever had, I'm not exaggerating. Ribs slid off the bone cleanly and were crispy on the outside. Brisket was juicy, smoky and scrumptious. Burnt Ends? I would have ordered twice it was so tasty! Sides were Cole Slaw (very good) and beans (I was expecting a tomato-sauce base, was a bit of vinegar?) were tasty. Good variety of beer choices. I ate outside on the patio by the smoker. I got the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The pulled pork was the absolute best I've ever had from a bbq restaurant, the ribs were nice and tender, and the brisket was just alright (but still very good with the bbq sauce!). I will DEFINITELY be coming back here, many times probably. I enjoy the natural smokiness of the meats, and The Joint achieves that very nicely, even without the bbq sauce. My friend got the Cuban sandwich and it was great too. When you walk in, make sure to go order your food first, then seat yourself. The staff is friendly and food gets served quick. talk about portions! the joint knows how to overfill a plate. for a small price at about 10.00 a plate, i had a very generous 1/4 size chicken. the skin was slightly crunchy, with a nice BBQ flavor. the mac n cheese was okay, i felt it was a little dry. potatoe salad was good - it had the traditional southern flare of eggs in it. both sides were big portions. it also comes with a piece of white bread to mop up any seasonings or flavors from the chicken. i highly suggest sharing one of these dishes, i took most of it back to my air bnb. read more

Say YES if someone offers you this Joint and be sure to inhale. This is the real deal Western-style BBQ. Best to go off-hours or you might not get a seat. There's inside (tables and full bar) and patio seating. When seated outside you can breathe deep the wood smoke from the giant smoker. I had the 3 combo with two sides: brisket, pork ribs, quarter chicken. I picked baked beans and mac and cheese as sides. The meat comes unsauced. It all had that beautiful pink smoke ring and was cooked perfectly. The meat fell off the rib bones. The brisket was fork-tender, as was the chicken. I loved the brisket as it was, with no sauce. It may be a bit fatty for some but not for me. Hard to decide, but I think the chicken was my favorite. It had a dry rub that was anything but dry. Didn't need sauce. I preferred the pork ribs with sauce. Try the meat plain first, then squirt sauces on the side and try them. There are three sauces - original, apple vinegar, and pineapple habanero, if I recall correctly. The meal came with a piece of toast on top to sop up good stuff. The baked beans were tasty, not too sweet, with some bell pepper. The mac and cheese was also good, a little peppery. I saved room for that smooth-as-silk peanut butter pie. Mmmmm, creamy, and not heavy. As far as I could tell, everything was housemade, down to the sauces and graham cracker pie crust. Staff are friendly and helpful. (I'd be happy too if I worked there.) The 5 bus stops close by but it does not come very often. I took a cab from Decatur and Canal and it was $11. Staff will call you a cab for the return trip. If your legs work really well you could walk back to the French Quarter, but it's a bit of a schlep. Don't think I'd walk at night, though. read more

Ordered a three meat plate (ribs, shredded pork, and brisket) that came with two sides (mac and cheese and coleslaw) and two adult beverages (Paloma and Lynchburg lemonade). The meat had a great flavor and was very tender. I was surprised by the mac and cheese because it looked a little dry in the pictures I saw on yelp beforehand, but it was not dry and really good! Amazing food and so fairly priced. I came with three other friends and we were able to get the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket for about $17 per person. The sides are great! I liked the Mac n cheese but the beans were probably the best side. The sweet tea comes with unlimited refills too! The meat is cooked to tender perfection. The special sauce that is on the table goes perfectly with the pulled pork. The awesome thing about the ribs is that you can eat them with or without the sauce, they're that good! I was completely stunned when eating the ribs because the meat literally slides clean off. I definitely recommend coming here for some delicious southern BBQ. The brisket was to die for!!! The sides were cooked nicely and the inside was incredibly tender and flavorful. My friend and I also shared the peanut cream pie, it was delicious! We were recommended to try The Joint by the homeowner of the Airbnb where we were staying at, and it didn't disappoint. It was within walking distance from where we were staying. We ordered at the register and easily found a table. They also have outside seating, and since it was pretty cold during our stay, they also had heaters outside if you opted to sit outside. The tables had BBQ sauce and paper towels as well as utensils. They also offered fountain drinks and a bar with a variety of mixed drinks. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich & beef brisket with one side each, we ordered the macaroni & cheese and the potato salad. The macaroni & cheese was on the cold(er) side, but still good. The beef brisket was PERFECT! The pulled pork came with coleslaw, and the bread was soft and perfect, so good. The woman's bathroom was unique and clean.
