We tried this place for breakfast one morning a few weeks ago. The wait staff was great. Most of the food was good too, however my daughter who is ten ordered bacon crisp. It came out completely black on one side. We showed the waitress who gladly took it back and ordered her a new order. It came out not as black but with burnt spots down both sides of the bacon. The waitress saw her disappointment and told the owner who came over to see what was wrong. We told her how disappointed she was that she had received burnt bacon. She said that was the way they cooked it. I asked, nicely I might add, how should I order it next time to ensure all the fat was cooked but there would be no black. In a huffy voice she said, "You order it crisp and then you get it crisp." We thought well maybe they were having a bad day, so we decided to give them a second chance so we took my parents there today. We had just told them all about how Charleston was voted the number one tourist city and the number 1 friendliest city in the country. Again the bacon for both daughters was burnt and we sent them back. Also we ordered a basket of sweet potato chips, which were also very very dark. As the owner walked by, my wife asked excuse me are these supposed to be this dark? The owner said, "Yes, well actually they are usually darker but I KNEW you had a problem the last time you came in so I told them to take yours out sooner." My wife said, "They taste a little burnt." And she said, "Well they are not." Just the condescending tone in her voice immediately put us off. my wife said, "we will not be coming back here" and she responded "That's just fine." As she turned to walk away, my wife said, "Yelp will be my friend today." To which this woman yelled back over her shoulder to us, "AND I WILL BLOW YOU AWAY,!" I was stunned, my parents were stunned. Her attitude was one of superiority and arrogance. We will NOT go back and will tell this story to everyone we know. That is NOT the way to build a business. read more

This place is becoming less of a secret, but is seriously delicious. After two years of living here, it's still my favorite breakfast/brunch spot. The Mexican hash is SOO good! If you like it spicy, ask for extra of the jalapeño chutney. Expect there to be somewhat of a wait, but also keep an eye on open bar seats! OK, reviews were superior and this seemed the perfect place to go after a family outing to the North Charleston Fire Museum. NOT! Yes, we anticipated a wait but the gal manning the desk was clueless as to how long it would be. It was long. Longer than she told us (20 minutes) and then longer still. Then, we got no love from the waiter for way too long -- especially with a four-year-old among us. Then, another long wait and when he finally delivered he brought the three adults our orders but not for the kid. Whaaaaa? Like any good granny, after five minutes (I thought maybe he'd just gone back to get the plate, but no) I went to the front to inquire about the order. "It's coming." Another five minutes later, a waitress appears, plunks the chicken nuggets in from my my DIL and announces they're just out of the fryer and too hot to eat. As for the food -- it was totally underwhelming. Soggy, greasy, unappetizing. Kudos to The Junction's public relations team. I can only imagine the five-star reviews are from relatives of the kitchen staff, or the unfortunate diners who never experienced the Hominy Grill. read more

My wife and I came to Charleston to visit family who are locals and have been to The Junction before; and have had good experiences and one bad experience there. This visit was well below the standards I would expect from an establishment charging the prices The Junction does. The service was sub-par (to say the least). We had a waitress who couldn't have been bothered more to serve our table. The food runner actually took our drink order, brought our food, and was the only person to follow up and make sure we didn't need anything else. The only thing our waitress did was check our IDs after we placed a drink order with someone else because she hadn't come to the table to introduce herself yet, take our food order, and bring us our checks after we had to ask someone else for them. The lack of caring about customers is some of the worst I've seen. We were there for well over an hour, and waited over 30 minutes after placing our order to get our food. Once we did get our food, it was cold and disappointing. The pimento cheese grits were overcooked and dry, and according to the locals we were with, well below the level they normally are. For a $4.50 side, I expect more. It's safe to say we won't be back, our local family members won't be back, and none of us will be recommending The Junction. read more

Stopped in here for a quick breakfast before heading to Middleton Place. Server was super sweet and interacted with our toddler which he loved. Ordered a side order of the donut with maple glaze. Delish that we had to order a second. Hubby ordered the shrimp and grits. Pricy for the portion but the taste was spot on. I had the BELT. Tasty but nothing special. Sandwich was large on this one. Shabby chic place just off of Park Circle that is worth the trip. The food is unique and tasty. We had the coffee doughnut and the "Not Yo Mamcita's Burrito" and both were delicious. Prices were reasonable, service was great, and food was awesome. They have a small parking lot right next to the restaurant, but it can get packed. We parked at a nearby park and walked 2 minutes to the restaurant. Don't be deterred by the appearance of the surrounding area. This joint is worth it. read more

Too much of a Grump Old Guy to give any place more than 4 stars for lunch. Reason I was grumpy I was all worked up for Asian Short Ribs or the Lamb Burger and was only able to get either Breakfast or Lunch. Who has Breakfast at 3pm.? That said Hungry just eat something. My wife had the Donut Breakfast and I had a Cheese Steak as good as any in Philly that includes Pat's or Geno's. Some sort of Mocha Coffee Sauce I almost put on the napkin and ate it. Service was pleasant considering it was 15 min to close. Some how did not pay attention to shops hours. Both offering where just Excellent. Next visit and it will be soon for dinner. If you actually have not gone just GO ! If there was an issue well take care of the parking lot as there are crater size holes and bound to bottom out. read more
