Since my birthday fell on a Sunday, the first plan for the day was brunch. And I selected The Select after checking out brunch menus for numerous locations. We didn't invite the whole crew because I've learned that my friends don't enjoy large groups for brunch, lunch or dinner. Everyone gets impatient! So we kept it a secret and only three of us headed downtown for brunch. We were sat in the first booth/table right in front of the hostess stand. Just on the other side of the wall was the bar area that has the beautiful moving flowers. It's definitely a show stopper and photos and boomerang videos are a must! Since we had all looked at the menu, we came in with a plan for apps, but we were still up in the air on entrees. After ordering some Prosecco, we ordered their peaches, tomatoes, and burrata. My last brunch with burrata downtown CHS was at Sorelle. So I immediately compared the two and felt Sorelle won. I also found the peaches and tomatoes both to be mealy. And it was peaches and tomato season, so that was disappointing. The second appetizer we shared was the hot blue crab dip. The first bite of the dip was delicious. It's served hot and there is lots of blue crab. My downfall with this dish is for $26 they serve the dip with flimsy tortilla chips. I'm sorry, but for $26 and a hearty dip, you've got to give me toast points. Buttery, warm, toasted French bread would be perfect! After debating between their wagu smashburger and the short rib hash, the server steered me to the hash. And I'm super glad she did! That was the best bites of the day!! I love sauces and this was served with two. Both delicious. The eggs were cooked perfect and the short rib and potatoes were both great. I was stuffed and didn't even put a dent in the plate! My friends ordered the Shakshouka and their Benedict. I didn't try either of their entrees, but they both didn't love their choices. I'm glad my hash was excellent or this could have turned into a big birthday bust! Since it was my birthday the server had the kitchen prepare us a dessert. It took some time because it was the chocolate mousse cake I believe and it came out pipping hot! I was too full and only had one bite, but it was very sweet gesture. We don't dine downtown a ton. When we do we like to try new spots, so we won't rush back to the Select. But it was a good start to my birthday celebrations! read more

Had no idea The Select had a location in Charleston! I'm a fan of the one in Atlanta (Sandy Springs). My mom mentioned wanting to go for her birthday brunch and I was all in! Just like the ATL location, the vibe was pretty and floral and the food was yummy. I hadn't had brunch there before, so this visit was still a treat. And the service was great, even with our larger party. I will note that the wheelchair and handicap accessible parking isn't right near the entrance, which almost made us choose another restaurant once we saw that we'd have to park in the garage or across the street. read more

I visited The Select for Sunday brunch with a group of girlfriends and was immediately impressed by the astonishing decorations at the bar, the flower arrangements and lights are great looking and very picturesque. For brunch we shared the giant cinnamon rolls which was, as the name suggests GIANT. And covered in sugar. It was just OK with some harder crusty part at at the bottom, and not as soft and pillowy as I imagined in my head. For the main food I tries the Shakshuka , which as good and came with crusty bread and was very filling and satisfying. not a lot of places make Shakshuka around here, so I was glad to find this one! Our server seemed to be a bit busy and although he was very nice and personable, we did have to wait long periods without water or coffee refills as he made his way to us. For today's Sunday brunch (Atlanta location), we were celebrating the Virgos in my crew. We brought our own desserts - an entire cake and 6 cupcakes. Our server was delightful by asking about the special occasion and took the desserts to clear our table. We started with the crab dip (tip: ask for crudite because it comes with chips). To drink we had the Ginger Margarita, Dragonbird and Bellini. The Dragonbird is served in an adorable little bird glass too. The dip was delicious and a perfect starter. For brunch - we had the Classic Breakfast, 3-Egg Gruyere omelette and Chicken Chilaquiles. Remember to customize your eggs, your protein and any sides. The chicken sausage is incredible! And they did cut our cake and served it to us along with other guests. We left it for the staff! Overall, a great atmosphere, amazing service and the location is charming down at City Springs. Parking is validated for 2 hours (use QR code) or park in the deck for a fee. On this day there was an event so parking was a flat $10. This place is such a vibe! The ceiling covered in flowers and the warm glow from the lanterns make it feel so cozy but still really stylish. Perfect spot to hang out with the girls and unwind. And great spot for pictures. The drinks were amazing--super tasty and really pretty. The frothy cocktail was smooth and rich. Was a whiskey sour not on the menu. The tall fruity one was so refreshing. Definitely the kind of drinks you want to take a picture of before sipping. We also had the ceviche and it had great flavors and the perfect thing to snack with homemade chips. If you would like to eat at the restaurant side I would make a reservation. The Select is an upscale restaurant in downtown Charleston with stunning decor and great food. I went for brunch and ordered the chilaquiles and a coffee. The chilaquiles were delicious and fairly inexpensive in my opinion, I highly recommend them. The coffee tasted a bit burnt and it was slow to get a new pot, so unfortunately it wasn't worth getting; hopefully just an off day on the coffee. Celebrated my birthday at The Select. First, I loved the atmosphere. Great decor and elegant. Our appetizers were the home made Fresh Baguette with salted European butter and the hot blue crab dip. The bread was fresh and delicious. Make sure you add a little butter on it. YUM!!! The crab dip was creamy with lumps of crab meat. The braised short rib and steak frites were delicious. Stopped in late on Lady's night, but still had good drinks, music, and fun. Sat at the bar and was provided great service from the bartenders. They were happy to answer questions about their menu and gave great suggestions. My friends and I ordered a variety of drinks, which all were to our liking. Had to try the Bird of Paradise in the oh so cute bird shaped glass, and it was delicious. Next time we'll grab some of their great looking dishes. We visited The Select on a Saturday evening, having made a reservation in advance. The interior was beautifully decorated, especially the bar, which featured gorgeous hanging flowers. I was excited that their drink menu featured some non-alcoholic wines, and got the N/A Sparkling Rose. It was so tasty and refreshing, and truly tasted like the real deal! We also started with two dozen Oysters to share between the three of us. I loved that their mignonette and hot sauce came in little glass bottles with pipettes, and all the Oysters tasted super fresh. We ordered a bunch more items to share - the Lobster Arancini, Roasted Mushrooms, Peruvian Ceviche, Squash & Burrata, Hot Blue Crab Dip, and Miso Golden Tilefish. The Squash & Burrata and were my two favorites, but everything was really good. Portion sizes were generally small, so we were able to finish all the food with no leftovers. Came here for brunch on Easter and the place was packed! The cinnamon bun was gigantic and could definitely feed the entire table. Everyone's entrées were great size and we left feeling very full. This place was so fabulous! The demeanor was very cute and quaint like midsummer meets the city. The food was even better. The lobster arancini and Caesar salad were delicious appetizers! I got the risotto with chicken for my app and the flavors were divine. Jocelyn, our waitress was so sweet and hooked me up with extra olives in my martinis. I couldn't even get a picture of the desert before we devoured it, but highly recommend the espresso crème brûlée was amazing! A few friends and I decided to try The Select on a Thursday, ladies night! We had heard mixed reviews and are happy to report this place gets 5 stars from us. We ordered drinks, mine being an apple drink off their specials menu. It was absolutely delicious and the candied ginger on top was perfect. The appetizers were all so great. The lobster arincini, chicken drumsticks (dreaming of the sauce they were in), truffle fries and the drool worthy baguette were ordered and I highly recommend all of them. The baguette are what dreams are made of and I'd like one everyday with the house made salted butter. My entree, the short rib, was beautiful. So tender. The creamiest potatoes I've ever had and vegetable medley were a great addition. I sampled the dishes my friends ordered and had no complaints! While drinking coffee and browsing the dessert menu, a friend at our table had a medical emergency. The whole restaurant was incredibly helpful. We had a doctor there and a table full of nurses right next to us! After EMS took my friend out to the ambulance with one friend, the other two of us stayed inside to pay our bill. The lovely women at the table next to us hurried us out to be with our I'll friend and said they'd pay our bill. That was unexpected and so kind. I had the best time at The Select last night. From the second I walked in, the space was stunning -- like magazine-cover pretty. The lighting, the greenery, the energy... everything was giving upscale lounge meets hidden gem. The staff was super friendly without being overbearing, and the music was just loud enough to feel like a scene but not so loud you had to scream. And the drinks? Actually strong. Not watered down. Not 80% ice. Like, real cocktails with real flavor. I didn't get a chance to try the full menu yet, but what I did have made me want to come back. It's rare to find a place that's this aesthetically beautiful and still gets the food, drinks, and vibe right. Highly recommend for girls night, date night, or solo "I'm the main character" energy. First off this place is adorable, the bar you pass walking in has huge moving flowers coming down from the ceiling. We were quickly seated and able to order, the restaurant was busy but we had no issue hearing one another. Our waiter was great and made accommodations for one member of our party. I ordered the hummus appetizer and chicken entrée. The hummus was okay, I appreciated the carrots on the side. The presentation of my entrée was nice but the dish had way too much salt. My friend order the risotto with chicken and hers was also overly salted. This was really unfortunate because I wanted to absolutely love this restaurant. Another friend ordered the muscles and crab dip and enjoyed them. The cocktails served in the bird glass were super sweet but very cute, not worth $17. It was my birthday so they surprised me with a free dessert of my choice. The sticky date cake was lovely. We came in for brunch around noon and there was only one other table in the restaurant. The host had to go talk to the server before she could seat us and was gone for a few minutes. Then the hostess sat us right next to the other table which was weird but I didn't want to offend the other table and ask to sit somewhere else. The decor is really nice and upscale. Our drinks were ok we got a gin drink and a mimosa. My fiancé loved the banana bread. Our entrees were just ok. My finances sourdough toast was burnt and pretty hard. It also didn't come with butter or jam it was just a charred piece of bread. I ordered the benedict and it was actually cold. I've worked in several restaurants and hate to complain. I was also starving and it took awhile for the server to come back and ask us how things were going. At this point I had already ate some of my food and didn't want to complain or wait for another plate. It's really weird that everything on the plate was cold. The hashbrowns felt like they were sitting on the counter overnight. The eggs were cold. There was hardly any bernaise on the plate but the bites I did get with the sauce were ok. We really wanted to love this place. The prices, portions and overall vibe is great but the food and the service wasn't up to par. Won't be back there's much better options in Charleston. read more

Let me tell you!! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. We usually sit at the bar but the dining area is just as nice. The ambience and the service is top notch everyone is very friendly and helpful. The food and the drinks are good! The Bird of Paradise cocktail is super tasty! Easily a favorite. If you are a tequila lover like we are they have Ceyaya Blanco which is very good and smooth. Appetizers: We ordered the Lobster Arancini and the blue Crab Dip. Both were perfect. You will not be disappointed choosing either dish. Entrees: Firstly we ordered the Sticky Toffee Cake but with Salted Caramel gelato instead of Vanilla. What a great choice. We wanted to take that gelato home. We probably will on the next visit. And yes this was our shared entree. Dessert aka the real entree after we got the good stuff out of the way: we ordered the Salmon and the Short Ribs. I enjoyed every single thing we ate. We came to The Select for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago. The restaurant itself was fairly large, clean, and nicely decorated. There is a parking garage around the corner, and the hostess will validate your parking for up to 2 hours which is wonderful! The service was excellent as well. As for food, I think next time I would try something different than the burger. It was just very heavy for me for brunch. There were 2 patties and it came with a hefty portion of truffle fries. I think there was just too much going on for me between the sauce, cheese, crispy onions, etc. All in all, I would definitely return and would be interested in trying something from their dinner menu. read more

Our table was a four top near the middle of the dining room but didn't seem overly "trafficy". I started with a Manhattan, my wife had a very unique cocktail served in a bird glass, and my adult son had an Old Fashioned. We had two wonderful appetizers (Lobster Arancini and the Gambas Al Ajillo) and followed by salads and entrees (a Wedge, a Caesar, Glazed Salmon, Miso Grouper, and Pasta Primavera with Lobster). By far the weirdest review I'll ever write, but let me tell you about my experience at The Select. A friend invited a few of us for dinner on Ladies Night, which is on Thursdays. Live music, special menu, etc. Awesome, we're all in. We start with some of the Happy Hour apps since we got there with just enough time to order some apps. I started with the fig old fashioned - I didn't get a lot of fig taste, but the drink was great! The lobster arancini was amazing - the pesto, the aioli, the lobster, oh my! One of the specials was a chicken drumstick and even though two of us don't like meat with bones, we tried the chicken and all agreed it was wonderful. The truffle fries were also a big hit. We also got the baguette (I am still dreaming of this) and sopped up some of the sauce from the chicken. Major yum. Our amazing server kept our waters topped off. We could have (and did) pour waters ourselves, but it was great to know she had her eye on us and stepped in just enough to maintain a presence without being overwhelming. For our entrees, I ordered the squash&burrata with grilled chicken. I was so full from the apps that I only ate around 1/3 of it, but I was really impressed. It was a much larger serving than I had anticipated (and, let's be honest, usually places this nice have tiny dishes!). As we were wrapping it up, my friends ordered coffee before leaving. At this point, I got lightheaded and woozy. I apparently passed out and my friends and some people from nearby tables helped me onto the floor. I somehow lucked out and there were a bunch of doctors and nurses there that night! Everyone responded so quickly and were beyond helpful and kind. A nearby table offered to pay for our dinners as we were getting hauled off the ambulance. A friend and I both messaged the restaurant after I got a clean bill of health to let them know and they responded back so kindly and positively. They handled a very scary incident with grace and professionalism and made me feel welcomed back. Very classy and very appreciated. And the worst part? I forgot my leftovers in my friend's car and had to throw them out. I guess that means I'll have to go back soon! read more

Visually stunning bars don't often pair with incredible food, in my experience the more "Instagram-worthy" the setting, the lower the standards are for quality of eats. Everything was delicious, service was very friendly, and on a holiday that is great to see. It is easy to not be thrilled about working a holiday shift, so it's appreciated to still get fantastic service. The Croque Madame is HUUUGE! But it heated up well as leftovers on the stovetop. I would rate service as A+, food at a solid A, and ambiance as an A+. A group of friends and I who were in town from Chicago stopped in on our final night in Charleston. We loved the vibe, with fun music across a wide range of genres. The baguette is the best baguette with butter we'd ever had! We ordered another one. I also recommend the short rib. We had an amazing server, who was super attentive, funny, and engaging. We had a couple small snafus with a drink, and undercooked fish, but the restaurant not only remixed those items, they brought some complimentary desserts, which were incredible. The wine list was decent in that there were some interesting options. The bar was decorated for the holidays, giving a festive atmosphere. The service was reasonably attentive. The owner/manager stopped by our table and shared lots of stories about his background, as well as details about the restaurant. We learned that the select has a special reservations line for locals.
