Smal touches like adding pimento cheese to grits and candied bacon are indicative of the length of innovation that pushes the Junction just outside of the franchise fare. There are a few suggestion is you plan to try it. Be prepared to wait. Wait to be seated. Wait to have your order taken. Wait , wait and wait some more for it to come out and then wait for the check. See a theme? Maybe they need a bigger kitchen, I don't know. Also, try to sit near the front of the dining area, because the closer you get to the back the less peaceful it gets. Between the kitchen traffic, the coolers and the music speakers, trying to enjoy the meal or a conversation is difficult- you might have better luck at a Chucky Cheese surrounded by a hundred third graders. Honestly had never really heard of this place before I searched. Wow. If you like the Daily and similar rustic/decently cheap food (I mean 15 bucks for a coffee, entree, and two sides)- GO HERE. My fiance and I have been to this place a few times and have enjoyed everything except the buskets and gravy. It was a definite disappointment. It was served lukewarm, biscuits were quite doughy and the gravy was not your typical southern style sausage and gravy. Other than that we love the place. The sweet potato chips are delicious! I ate breakfast on May 17, 2016 at the Junction. The retro vibe of the place is quite thrilling. I immediately warmed to it. The service was competent, but quite cold. Not the kindest welcome I've ever had at a restaurant. Someone near the back just yelled 'Sit anywhere'. Ok. I ordered green tea and the veggie omelet. Both were good. The green tea was just a common tea bag and I was never offered a refill of hot water. The omelet had shiitake mushroom 'bacon' on it that was excellent! I'd order it again. read more

Sounds like there's some operational issues here at this place. It took us almost an hour to be seated when arriving at 11 AM and our ticket took another hour to get our food. Apparently some people out front and in back called in and did not show. However, this could've been communicated better to the patrons. The food was good, manager appeared to be trying to work through a difficult spot. Have us a discount for the inconvenience, but the 2.5 hours lost in breakfast was not what I wanted to do on vacation. read more

They have a self serve coffee station with awesome coffee. Ordered the pigs into a blanket, the buzz donut, cheese grits, and my favorite, the biscuit with homemade strawberry jam. Delicious! We stopped in for breakfast after dropping someone off at the airport and nearly turned around because the parking lot was empty at 7:40 on a Thursday morning and the place looked closed. We're glad we stayed, great little place with friendly staff, good coffee and a well executed breakfast at very reasonable prices. This North Charleston gem reminded me of my favorite restaurants in Asheville: interesting and artsy decor with really good food. I had the Mexican hash which I would probably go back and order over and over again if there weren't so many other delicious sounding items on the menu. The Mexican hash featured perfectly done hash brows covered with cheese, flavorful pork, black beans, onions, avocado and topped with a fried egg. If you like spicy you'll love the housemade salsa that accompanies it. My husband's pig in a blanket was spot on. Service was excellent; our server Amy was super and our food was out fast. I went for breakfast and the food was mediocre. I had the "toad in the hole", which was good, but I honestly could make a better one quickly at home. My easily pleased boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy and did not like them at all. The biscuits were hard on the bottom and the gravy was extremely bland. I tried it as well and would NOT recommend it. I was equally as disappointed with the service. Our waitress seemed annoyed by our very presence and did not smile once. We ordered coffee and were given 2 empty mugs without a word from the waitress. We assumed she was coming back with a pot to fill the mugs, but after 10 minutes with empty mugs the table next to us said we had to get our own coffee at the station. I don't mind having to get my own coffee, but our server should have informed us especially since we told her it was our first time there. I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. read more

We visited this establishment about a week ago at lunch time. We walked in the door and stood, waiting either to be seated or told to take a set. A male employee looked at us and said hello, but left us standing there for probably 5 minutes. I finally asked someone, and was told to sit anywhere. It took another 5 or so minutes to be greeted by a waiter. He took drink orders and then another wait for the drinks. When he finally returned with the drinks he took our orders (2). Shortly he returned and had forgotten my order. I repeated it to him. Then it was another healthy wait for the food, with an apology and excuse on why it took so long. We were one of 2 tables, all 2-tops. All the time we sat waiting, there were a couple male employees yukking it up behind the bar. Perhaps paying attention to the customers might have been a better idea, as we felt from the beginning ignored. I had the salad - I think it was called something like a power salad. All the ingredients were good, but the quinoa was heavy with water and not drained. My friend had a philly cheesesteak which he described as "ok." The service was just bad and way beneath my expectations, given it is a new restaurant building its clientele. I love the concept, love the space, but the face to face interaction was truly lacking. I hope they make it because there is a need for this kind of area in the Park Circle vicinity. Hopefully the day we visited was not the norm for this cute little place. read more

First off this place was very over hyped. Let me start from the beginning. The parking lot made it very hard to park since it was small. The only good thing about this place was the host who was very funny and welcoming. As we were seated it took the server over ten minutes to even acknowledge our presence and just said I'll be with you shortly. So we had to wait even longer until she finally came back to us to receive our order. The whole time we waited we didn't know coffee was a self serve so that would've been nice to know when we got there. The server never came back to see us until our order was done, which took over 20 minutes. As our food was placed in front of us, right away we could tell that it wouldn't be good. My wife ordered the salmon bagel where the bagel was hard like a rock. My mother in law ordered the monte cristo which turned out to be an overly buttered sandwich which also had a hair in it. The server was right next to her as she pulled the hair out and right away took the sandwich to the back before my mother in law could tell her that she didn't want anything else. Once we told the server she started to tell us "These things sometimes happen" as if it wasn't a big deal. My buzzed doughnut was over fried and had hash browns that were cooked until they were potato chips. Once we finished and were leaving the manager comes to ask if everything was ok. After I told her what happened she didn't even know that we had a bad experience. All in all a big let down unfortunately. read more

This is a cute little 'cafe' type of place. The food was good enough to probably go back again sometime. Food is fairly inexpensive. Servers were nice even though it was busy. It's not the type of place to linger over a meal though, it's small and you notice folks waiting for seats - it's breakfast and lunch only so I guess it's not a big problem. Wow! Delicious!! I had the huevos rancheros with the cactus braised beef instead of the ham. They had no problem making the substitution, and there were many choices for gluten intolerances.
