We love the kebab Shop and have been coming here since the first one opened on 9th in DT SD. It felt like the past couple years it had been going downhill a bit. Smaller servings and lower quality. Visiting from SF, I needed to find a catering option for a post-Thanksgiving meal for about 15 people. I narrowed it down to two options and my boyfriend, a lover of Mediterranean food, picked TKS. Having never been here before, I gave them a call and someone helped me figure out the best order for a group of our size and I placed the order online for pickup (they use Door Dash for delivery and you can't schedule that more than 7-days in advance). My bf picked up the meal and it was packaged nicely and everything was labeled. We got the small Crave pack (salad, rice, one protein, pita, hummus, and sauces) and I added a portion of carved lamb beef. Everything was delicious, there was something for everyone and it's a great value. I would definitely recommend them for catering and would also stop in for a meal to try their other options. read more

Love the grilled chicken kebab wrap with spicy hummus and extra veggies. The wraps are my favorite in San Diego. Wholesome and delicious and I never feel guilty after. And the thing I love most is that its never soggy, saggy, and deflated or lacking flavor. The grilled chicken is also my favorite protein with just the right amount of protein. This place is so mediocre, with bad service too. It's a bunch of dry meats that are expensive, with dried out rice, mass produced on a fast food scale. The things that are supposed to be flavorful like the sauces and the falafel are bitter and not right. I've had good middle Eastern and Greek food. This doesn't come close. I live in the area so have been here many times. I only come here now when I have to or there's an event. Sadly, there are basically no other Mediterranean/middle eastern food options in the neighborhood. And I order online a half hour beforehand. Is it ready when I arrive? No. Wait another 10 minutes. I love this place! We first found out about Kebab Shop while visiting downtown San Diego last year. But I've been to this location like 3 times now while visiting the Carlsbad/Encinitas area. I highly recommend it if you like Mediterranean food! I usually get the plate or the family combo (which is great if you have multiple mouths to feed or just want leftovers!) Regardless which format you choose, I recommend the lamb/beef combo which is basically gyro meat. For sides, I usually go for their saffron rice and falafel. So good! Their wraps used to be called doners. That proved too challenging for most folks so now they are just called wraps. Doner, wrap, burrito, whatever. They are delicious. I'm still more a fan of the chicken one than the lamb/gyros one although I'm usually a sucker for gyros sandwiches. The wraps here are absolutely enormous and are filled with fresh veggies and plenty of meat. Our sides (saffron rice and falafel) were both good but a little on the dry side. They were still flavorful. Fast service and, while not cheap, I would say that you get excellent value for the quality of the food. I'm a fan. read more

So sorry for the typos on original review. My intent was to share with whomever the falafels are more dense heavy and if you're not used to that you won't like them, but a lot of people would love them because they're from the part of the country that that you make them from probably that's how they're made but everything in your restaurant was excellent except I did not like the falafel's but don't mean to give you a review that would hurt your business in anyway because that wouldn't be fair. I only wanted to let the people know that if you don't want heavy, dense falafel's, don't eat here cause I like the lighter ones. read more

Covid Update- Kebab Shop is open for business and now allowing dine-in service. My hubby and I didn't sit inside but saw a few people who were safely distanced from one another and enjoying their lunch. I ordered the falafel plate to go with a double order of their Greek salad. Their sides are limited right now, but you still have the option of getting the rice, fries, Greek salad or hummus. And as walkways, their garlic sauce is top notch so make sure to ask for a couple extra sides of it. read more

I'm embarrassed to say how often we order from TKS. In a pinch, this is the very BEST option-- fresh, made to order, fast but not fast food, so much flavor and healthy! The proteins are great, some of the best grilled chicken I've had, the saffron rice is wonderful and the topping options from feta to pickled onions, hummus to Greek salad are perfection! We have also ordered the catering from TKS and it's so nicely packaged. It comes with everything you need for a large group, and is always a hit!
