We were initially put in a booth for five, and when the rest of our party arrived and asked to move to a table, it became a much bigger ordeal than it should have been...even though the restaurant was mostly empty with larger tables already set. We were even asked to carry our own waters and unused silverware to the new table. The service felt rushed and dismissive throughout the meal. Simple menu questions seemed to annoy our server, and she frequently interrupted our conversations with unsolicited comments. At one point I was looking at the weekly specials menu and she took it out of my hands to flip it over because I was looking at the wrong side. It came across as surprisingly rude. She also spilled water on our table and the floor, then laughed when I reached for a napkin to clean it up myself. The food was okay. My burger tasted good, but it wasn't cooked to the temperature I requested and came with tomato after I had asked for none. I also found the prices hard to justify, especially since the lunch menu had several items that weren't available to order at dinner. Overall, there were some good flavors, but between the service and the price, the experience didn't live up to expectations.

The place was absolutely packed and the wait was quite long. At one point, we honestly considered giving up and going elsewhere, but since this had been a gift and we'd heard many locals speak highly of the restaurant, we decided to stick it out. One thing we've definitely learned while living in the Midwest is that bar-and-grill style restaurants are deeply woven into the dining culture here. Sioux Falls has many places with this sort of atmosphere, and honestly, we've adapted fairly well to it even though it differs a lot from some of the larger-city dining scenes we were used to previously. Unfortunately, the food itself just didn't quite work for us. We ordered steak, jambalaya, and buffalo wings. The steak, despite being ordered medium rare, came out drier than we would have liked and lacked much distinctive flavor. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't memorable either. The jambalaya was probably the biggest disappointment of the evening. It was overwhelmingly salty to the point where it became difficult to really enjoy the dish underneath the seasoning. The buffalo wings were acceptable enough, but again, they also leaned dry. Service was understandably stretched because of how busy the restaurant was, though the staff themselves seemed to be working hard under the pressure. Overall, this simply wasn't quite our cup of tea in terms of either the food or the atmosphere. I can understand why it appeals to many locals looking for a lively Friday night gathering spot, but for us personally, it probably isn't somewhere we'd return to. A 2 out of 5 from us.

When I heard my family would be dining at Morrie's one evening, I decided to surprise them by paying for dessert and having it delivered to their table. The host, Priscilla, assisted me over the phone on payment and dessert selection. Locating my family took extra effort for her since my family did not have a reservation. Priscilla coordinated with their server, who delivered the dessert and went so far as to include a card from me! My vision was executed beautifully and my family was touched. The Parmesan crusted salmon over mash potatoes was one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. The others said the grilled shrimp, and ribeye steaks were cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The white wine sangria with strawberry and lemonade was tasty and refreshing. Finally our waitstaff Kendra was on top of her game, friendly, knowledgeable, and willingly answered all our questions.
