We had lunch here on Monday, March 2, arriving at 12:10. This is one of my host's (a Boulder native) favorite restaurants. She loves the Pasta Bolognese; I had a bite and agree that it was outstanding. I had the Shawarma Steak Salad, which was cooked to my specificiations and was quite good. I was not pleased with either the service or the ambiance. We were seated at 12:10, ordered soon thereafter, and our entrees did not arrive until 12:50. The restaurant was at no time full while we were waiting, and we certainly didn't order complicated dishes. The music was annoying and exceedingly loud; I had a hard time hearing my host's conversation. We asked at least 3 times for the music to be turned down. At one point, I saw our server point out our table to someone (the manager?) who glared in my direction. The sound did not diminish. For that reason alone, I'll be avoiding the Boulder Kitchen, and its fellow establishments, in the future. Memo to restaurant managers: People go out to lunch to eat and talk. We picked the place based on research we did of Boulder. It seem that everyone had great things to say about this place and it definitely did not disappoint! The chicken was juicy and soft on the inside and the skin was super crispy. It was season to perfection. The fried in bone marrow butter where to die for, I could have lick that plate. I just had the occasion to go to your restaurant on my last day at my current job. I chose the southern fried chicken sandwich. It was awesome. My colleague, who is also from the south, thoroughly enjoyed it as well. So much so that I took the time to write about it. I picked this placed based on Yelp reviews and was elated that I did when we finished dinner. We had the marinated olives, beef carpaccio and the salmon entree. This was the first time for me having medium done salmon and I must say it was great. Reasons it was medium is chef suggest it done this way. The portions are a bit small but if u don't come in really hungry you should be fine. The customer service was awesome. The host stand being right at the door was a bit different and put us in an awkward position when waiting behind a group. I hear they have an upstairs with happy hour and cheaper food. Didn't get a chance to see that but I wish I had more time in boulder. I think I spent around $60 for all of that plus tip. This was our first experience here. We sat upstairs which I was concerned about but it ended up being a great space. We did a bunch of tastings: oysters, carrots, cauliflower and burrata. Such a good brunch spot. Good for any meal, but the clean and simple ambiance just draws me in for brunch! The food is wonderful, best to do family style and to order a bunch of things so everyone can try everything. That way you can try more things on the menu since they're all so good it's really hard to decide on just one thing. Food is all really high quality, so fresh and mostly local. They also have good cocktails and a great wine list. Their staff is on the ball and very professional. On a busy Saturday during lunch rush, I came here with a family member and ventured inside, the host asked it we had a reservation and I said no. He said we are all full and booked solid because of the local college having their graduation ceremonies. But he looked around and said we do have a small table in back open for one hour. I'm feeling like an outlier giving 3 stars in the midst of all these raving reviewers. To be honest, maybe my expectations were too high because my friends and I heard many great things about the kitchen. They said they'd call us, and it actually took almost 45 min to get seated, although we saw empty tables inside...maybe they were reserved. My favorite thing about the kitchen was the interior! So chic and pretty chandeliers with wooden hallways and tables. I was impressed with the aura and decor. We were seated and greeted by a friendly waitress who introduced us to the menu. One friend commented on how small the menu is as well as how pricey it can be. Among your meat entrees, you get to choose among 6 or so choices. We all chose different things. I ordered the pork chop, and my friends go the mushroom tagliatelle, chicken and salmon. For appetizer we got the mussels and garlic fries. The garlic fries were disappointing- they smelled GREAT but tasted like potato only. I was sad because I expected at least a little bit of garlic taste. The mussels were also disappointing. For the price, quantity is very small and the sauce was not for me. I love mussels, but this dish had very little sauce and it was almost sour/tangy and VERY fishy. We all ate it though, because we got used to the fishy taste. Our entrees were ok- my pork chop came in 2, one was drier than the other. I tried bites of the salmon, chicken and tagliatelle. Among everything I liked the tagliatelle bc of the nice mushroom taste. Everything else was decent but nothing that stuck out. And there was an underlying tangy/sour taste everyone got in one their dish sides. Lemon? Lime? Not sure. It was ok. Overall the wait and hype did not prove itself worthy. came here yesterday for brunch with my sister. The food was excellent but -1 star for our serving experience. I ordered a side of sausage with my delicious blueberry ricotta pancakes. It didn't come out and I reminded the waitress. The sausage didn't come out till I was almost finished eating. Clearly she forgot but I never received an apology and she never even checked to see if they came. $5 for a side of meat and it would have been nice to actually it it with my meal or receive an acknowledgement that she was sorry. Also when my sister asked for hot sauce she asked Chalula or Tabasco? My sister replied Tabasco and then she brought the wrong one as if she wasn't even listening. Ok rant done. For the most part, however, the food was over salted - especially the fried artichoke hearts and gnocchi bolognese. Those items were salty to the point of ruining the flavor. A lovely stop for lunch while traipsing around Boulder for the afternoon. It was right on the main Pearl St drag nestled near some of the shops we were visiting. In the case of "don't judge a book by its cover," we did the opposite. From the street the cafe looked cozy and adorable, it basically lured us in from off the sidewalk. Thankfully so because it was a welcome stop on our short visit in Boulder. The quiche was so fabulous, I never wanted it to end. It's a daily special, I believe, so the flavor combo rotates. I got the last one of the day, and I'm surely glad for that. It was buttery and flaky and fluffy with bacon bits of rich flavor. Paired with a side salad, it's definitely just the right meal to fill you up till dinner. My boyfriend had the tacos and was super satisfied. For him, it's savory flavor that gets him and a filling meal. He kept "mmm"-ing after each bite. They go the extra mile with fresh, flavorful ingredients that help make the dishes special. Epic fail guys. Your brunch today was pure disappointment. The brunch menu features "sweets" at the top with a donut, babka, and another treat. When the server came to take our order we were informed that ALL of those items were GONE! Come on guys. Not cool. You can do better. So after that massive disappointment I order a toast with mushrooms, ricotta and soft scrambled eggs. (Something that shouldn't be hard to do with delicious savory flavor.). The brioche toast was burned black in one area, the whole thing was dry and just completely lacking in flavor. On the side a totally uncreative salad. I have eaten here many times over the years. Came here for lunch on a weekday and it wasn't too busy. Beautiful spot for sure! I ordered the roasted mushroom sandwich (one of the few vegetarian options) and it was alright. It came with garlic fries which were delicious! The sandwich though was difficult to eat because the mushrooms were cut so small, and then it was also a lot of bread. I live a few blocks away from this place and I had forgotten just how consistently great it is! They truly keep the menu fresh - seasonal food, local fresh veg from local farmers when available, and consistent creativity with their dishes. They keep some of their fan faves year-round, but this year they knocked it out of the park this summer with their twist on a BLT at brunch/lunch (local heirloom tomatoes, local bacon, fresh local bread, a fried local egg, a bit of avo, finished off with their secret sauce). 01 negative is that their wines by the glass prices have gotten pretty ridiculous with their least expensive glass taged at $17.50. That said, they're bottle prices definitely have some solid options in the land of reason. Their servers are consummate pros and the staff never misses a beat. Made the mistake of coming here without a reservation. Who would've thought you would need a reservation on a Wednesday evening. We decided to stay and test our luck to see if some spots at the bar opened up. Not use to acting like vultures, we had several failed attempts at snagging a seat. Eventually the hostess felt bad for us and brought over an extra chair to squeeze in so we didn't have to wait any longer. All the food and drinks we ordered were delicious. Especially the fries.
