I worked with Blanca on both jobs and cannot say enough about how knowledgeable, prompt, and thorough she is. She took my ideas and fashioned them into a very workable and lovely space. We were looking to remodel our kitchen and basically stumbled upon The Kitchen Store. We were walking around the store when the manager/owner asked if we needed help. He immediately took us to Ann. She was so amazing. She came over to the house to make all the measurements in order to create the design. We also had her look into our laundry room and bathroom. When we came back to the store to review the design, we were stunned. The layout and 3D rendering of the kitchen were so beautiful. She had listened to what we wanted (lots of storage and countertop workspace) and delivered more than we expected. To be honest, the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room came out so much better than I could ever imagine. Her attention to detail was amazing. She even worked with us during the installation of the cabinets to make sure everything came out right and even went further to get additional material to make everything perfect. Every morning I walk into the kitchen, I just love it. In the bathroom, we had an awkward space behind the shower. She solved that tricky storage problem with pull out drawers behind a beautiful cabinet panel. Even the toe kick below the panel is a spring activated drawer. You can do a kitchen remodel on your own but having an experienced kitchen designer will give you more than you will ever know. A friend of mine referred her to us for a new construction, where we needed not only kitchen cabinets but custom designed bathroom vanities and laundry room cabinets. I'm so happy that we went with Ann, instead of some other places we were considering. The cabinet looked really good but after getting it installed by one of their contractors, I noticed the door opened the wrong way. The contractor made it seem as if it was the designer's fault and he was not able to fix it but I'm sure he could have put the hinges on the other side. I spoke with Anthony and he was committed to resolving my problem. He sent another contractor out that was able to fix the problem. Although we did not go with The Kitchen Store for our kitchen remodel because of a super tight budget that also had to include a bath re-do, paint and carpet, I must say the experience was educational from downloading their measurement worksheet to do our due diligence, to the in-store consult with a designer who later warmed up to us, to the 3-D printout of how our kitchen would look completed, to the upfront cost disclosure. During the in-store consult, we went with top of the line cabinetry and I literally drooled then craved to go with the product and design even though it wasn't financially feasible. Our designer did mention still quality but more affordable options were available, took our email but never followed up, guess our budget and looky loo naiveté "showed". Yet, discounts abound and there are constant sales, even the $350 consult-in-home-measurement-fee is applied to your total if The Kitchen Store indeed does the work. We also learned we would need to source appliances and hire contractors, installers The Kitchen Store could recommend. If your resources are more liquid than ours, The Kitchen Store is THE place to create your dream kitchen! read more

We're buying a house and need to redo the kitchen. This is something neither my wife or I have experience with. She remembers hearing an ad for The Kitchen Store on the radio and we decide to make the trek from Glendale with all 3 kids in tow to their store in Culver City... in the rain. We arrive first thing on a Saturday morning and the parking lot is empty. I get my kids in the store and there are probably 8 employees behind various desks. No one budges or acknowledges us except the one guy near the front who asks my kids not to touch a display. Really? Does he know that kids go into kitchens and bathrooms too? If their displays can't withstand my 5 year old daughter opening one of the drawers, what does this say about their products? After several minutes, a very warm woman comes up to us as it must have been obvious that we didn't know what we were doing by now. We talk a bit about our project and she shows us around the store and gives us some materials to browse through. Then decides that we should really only look through the one collection as it will likely be the most affordable. Sorry, did I wear my rags to the store? She asks if we have all the measurements for the kitchen. We don't. She says that she can't really start a design session without the measurements. That makes sense. Then looking at our kids, she says that she would need to do at least a 2 hour design session (meaning: make sure they aren't with us.) She's at her desk if we need anything. That was about it. 10 minutes. Wow. There were no other customers in the store. We were hoping she could have helped us look at cabinets and countertops and start getting some ideas. Maybe we don't have the measurements, but we know some of what we'd like to see in the kitchen. She wasn't interested in looking at the example of the kitchen we were looking to build. What if I didn't get exactly every measurement? Would I get the same line? Every other place we've gone to since said they'd come out and do the measurements. Clearly we didn't fit the criteria of they're preferred clientele. Wasted a trip to this store. By the way, for a kitchen and bathroom store, their actual bathroom area is really unattractive. read more

"We should have investigated the designer as much as we researched The Kitchen Store." That was what we wrote to Ken Bass, president of the Culver City company, to report that our finished kitchen, designed by Ana Del Valle at the Kitchen Store, was "something much different" than what she created on her computer. "The project was flawed from the very start because your designer failed to measure accurately." Point of information: Our new kitchen looks great and is a vast improvement over our 20-year-old kitchen. The Kitchen Store is an excellent place to see and touch everything you need in a remodel. But, we as we learned to our dismay, a small 1-inch mistake causes enormous problems. We wrote to Mr. Bass that "Ana apologized to us for her measuring error, noting her embarrassment and that she had made such mistakes before and would undoubtedly make some again. She was correct: She mis-measured repeatedly on our project. Her professional shortcomings not only inconvenienced us, our contractor, and his workers, but made the final product less satisfactory than the design. "Specifically: After the second day of cabinet installation, we discovered that Ana had left a space of 23 5/8th inches instead of the 24-inch universally standard width for dishwashers. Her plans left no room to gain another 3/8 inch. Our contractor immediately alerted her to the error, then recommended the only solution that would allow work to continue: eliminate a 6-inch-wide cabinet to the left of the dishwasher, shift the sink and two large cabinets left, and fill the gap at the far right wall with a false front....The kitchen sink is now off-center. It is nearly six inches left of center of the window above." Later, as we told Mr. Bass, we discovered Ana's other 1-inch-off calculations: "The upper cabinets to the left and right of the window are mismatched. All the cabinets to the left of the window and along the next wall are 1-inch deeper than all the cabinets to the right of the window and along that next wall. "Almost laughably, Ana made a final 1-inch error after the project was complete. As you may know, a 14-inch-wide cabinet door was delivered warped. Ana arranged the replacement, but ordered one that was 13 inches wide. This required us to place a second order, and our contractor had to make a second trip to our home for the repair." To his credit, Ken Bass responded quickly to investigate the problems and offer solutions. He suggested removing the two banks of larger cabinets from the wall and cutting them to the same size as the smaller ones. He also proposed cutting back the soffit by one inch so both banks of cabinets would be set back the same half-inch. We never seriously considered more construction work. In the course of those discussions, we asked for and received an itemized list of the cabinets and hardware then asked again for the same list with prices. In our review, we discovered that when Ana calculated our refund for the lost cabinet and for a spice rack she ordered that fit none of the cabinets or drawers, she underpriced the items. Notably, Ana provided the name of one contractor among a dozen affiliated with The Kitchen Store to bid on the job. That contractor's estimate was nearly double the average estimate of three other bidding contractors. That contractor wanted to begin demolition TWO WEEKS before the arrival of the cabinets. The contractor we hired completed the demolition in two days. We ultimately agreed to a 10% reimbursement on the cost of the cabinets plus the correct refund. We considered that fair and reasonable. When we originally wrote to Mr. Bass, we stated that we hoped our dealings with The Kitchen Store would end on a positive note. Thanks to him, they did. Our kitchen remodel story is a cautionary tale with new takes on old adages: Measure at least three times, order once. Trust but verify. read more

Excellent service. Walked in without an appointment; had photographs of existing kitchen in my Kindle. Was immediately approached and asked if help was needed. Responded, not right now. Then looked around the store of at the vast array of cabinet designs, fixtures, and other items, prior to requesting help. Ann Higginson was more than helpful. Showed her the images and she explained their process. We made an appointment where Ann came to the house, took measurements. A few days later, returning to The Kitchen Store, Ann had the kitchen design on her computer in 3D, this visual helped finalize the placement, design, cabinets, and other items need. She even made suggestions I haven't thought of. The construction process including tear down, installation, and finishing went smoothly. Ann and her team, were there to help along the way. Helping with suggestions. Not only was the kitchen remodeled, so were the hallway cabinets, two bathrooms, and the laundry room. The slab contractor, Sawaed, did a great job, again, like Ann, making design suggestions. Sawaed even designed, on site, the family room travertine fireplace, which integrates well with the adjoining kitchen cabinets and counter tops. Ann and The Kitchen Store made our remodel painless. Friends, family, and neighbors who have seen the areas remodeled said they will use The Kitchen Store to do their remodels. Are you for reals with today's technology and their quote came in at over 20k!!! And that did not include installation 3rd I asked to meet again as he suggested to see door samples and have not heard back from him. Instead he sends me an updated email with some of the changes I requested and off course the price increase. So I was left waiting to see when he will schedule a 2nd appt. and no news! We are in love, gaga, head over heels, with out new kitchen! It is both beautiful and completely functional. Everything makes sense, and there is more storage than we need. Useful, accessible corner cabinets. An easy to take out stand mixer that rises up out of a cupboard. Drawers for everything from dishes, to pots, to cooking oil, to utensils, to trash. And it's all so pretty. I went in without an appointment, just to look around and get a few ideas. Chuck Sacco noticed me wandering around and, without being pushy, offered to help me. He was amazing. I had a very specific style and color in mind, and he was very patient and thorough, helping me find exactly what I was envisioning. Our kitchen is like a jewel in our house. It's really takes my breath away every day. I can't believe we get to live here and use this kitchen. I wanted neither a big ugly hood hanging into my kitchen, nor an it-won't-work downdraft taking up too much space in my peninsula. Chuck did some research and found a hood that mounts flush in the ceiling. Ann Higginson transformed my kitchen from sectioned off and under utilized space to open concept and functional space. It's amazing! I described my vision to Ann and she made it a reality. Together with my contractor, we were able to design a kitchen that looks way more expensive than it actually is. Not only was Ann creative about how to utilize the space, she was also helpful in giving me advice on colors. I told Ann that I wanted off-white and dark gray and she showed me a new color called Moonstone, which I highly recommend. She included details such as glass cabinets in two places and on one of the glass cabinets it has a side door - so neat! We eliminated the breakfast nook and expanded the kitchen into that underutilized space. It's stunning! Besides the amazing outcome, Ann is a dedicated designer who was great with communication and took measurements more than once to make sure we had it right. I live in Long Beach and Ann drove to my home a handful of times! The saying under promise and over perform was totally true! Ann promised that my cabinets would arrive in 5-6 weeks (and there were a lot of cabinets!) and they arrived in 4 weeks. When we needed more trim for the base and appliances, Ann quickly ordered more and it was delivered fast. I had Home Depot come out and give me a bid on refacing my kitchen. The bid was absolutely ridiculous and the guy reminded me of a used car salesman. Frustrated with Home Depot, I got a recommendation to call the Kitchen Store. the overall experience was top notch and we received our new kitchen cabinets and installed them within four weeks. The only issue we had was they sent the wrong handles, but they took care of the issue and had the new handles to me In less than a week. I highly recommend them. read more

In 2010 I used Alex Fosella, contractor, to install my new kitchen and laundry cabinets in my boyfriends house in Agua Dulce. He did a superb job, very reasonably priced and a really nice guy. In 2017, 2018 I did two projects with Ann Higginson. She was so helpful,did a great design for my kitchen, laundry room and bookshelves. I could not be happier ! I purchased my custom kitchen cabinets a few months ago with a rep named Anna. By far, one of the best sales reps I've ever encountered - extremely passionate, honest, creative, talented and knowledgeable in design. I've walked into many other kitchen stores before this one and I did not get nearly the attention from them as i did here at The Kitchen Store. I came in looking like a 15 year old in sweats and a tshirt and was approached within seconds and received the attention and service as if I was a woman in a mink coat. The pricing and service was explained clearly. No hidden fees, nothing extra snuck up down the line. We powered through ideas and I returned to her several times with changes and feedback. Minor errors appeared when our cabinets arrived but they were handled and corrected immediately. The thing I loved most about working with Anna is that I feel like I'm a customer for a lifetime. After the fact that my kitchen was ordered, paid for, delivered and finalized, she continued to make sure I was satisfied, gave me great advice and suggestions for improving my kitchen and continued to take my calls to answer petty questions I had. I started my home renovation project in August 2020. I worked with Marie Franco as my kitchen designer and I highly recommend her to anyone considering to remodel their, whether it is a small area or a large one. From translating my vision into a definitive plan, I felt that my wishes were heard, and my utmost desire for a highly functional kitchen was very well respected. Marie was straightforward, honest and thorough. She worked very closely with my contractor and both created a great team and provided me with what I call a masterpiece. Marie considered my height and my husband's (I am short and he is tall), ease in gripping the drawer handles and other details that I would have otherwise failed to think about. My kitchen is tailored for me and I love it. The quality of the work is excellent and I like that the cabinetry was made in Oregon. I highly recommend the Kitchen Store, and if you are considering it, I also highly suggest that you go to Marie. Although I know it may be a standard process to come in to measure to ensure accurate placement of the cabinetry and appliances, Marie's attention to detail was communicated very well to my contractor that we had no hiccups for fit when the appliances came. We had an issue with unmatched floor trim for the island, which took 2 tries to get it right, but that got resolved. An experienced installer is also key to a beautiful kitchen. This is a long-overdue review for this solid, established company and the very talented designer Sharron Smith. The advantage to this is that we have had a year of enjoying the kitchen and cabinets to see how it all works! We did a complete kitchen remodel in late 2020-early 2021. Sharron guided me through the whole design process and to quality mid-price range cabinets that we are very happy with. Sharron was very patient with my numerous questions and design tweaks. I felt very comfortable requesting changes and she was very prompt with making them and emailing them back to me--sometimes several in a day, We incorporated many of her suggestions and she was honest if I came up with an idea that was problematic--the perfect give-and-take with a designer-client relationship. So when my wife and I decided that if was time to demo and remodel two bathrooms - including the Master - our only issue was to find a reliable and local contractor that we liked. So I randomly stopped by the Kitchen Store and there was Jim - sitting at the same desk. He remembered our job, he recommended a local contractor who visited within a week. There was NEVER a question as to where we would purchase our cabinets, and Jim quickly came out to the house to start measuring. We just completed a big remodel of our kitchen, laundry room, and wet bar earlier this year. Our contractor (Eternity Construction) referred us to the Kitchen Store. The morning we arrived, Jim Dewitt already had 3D drawings prepared for us based on the measurements and sketches he'd received from our contractor. Jim made some helpful suggestions regarding layout and sizing, and made all the changes we wanted to see right there on the computer. This place has a great selection of styles and finishes from several different manufacturers and their pricing is competitive. Jim came out to the house after we'd finalized the designs to ensure that all the measurements were correct and that everything would fit the way we expected it to before the order was placed.
