I've been here a handful of times. The food is REALLY good. Sometimes the wait is quite a bit, as it seems that the output from the kitchen is rather slow. My only complaint, and the reason that I didn't give 4 or 5 stars, is that the service is atrocious!! Might I suggest getting pick-up so you wont have to deal with the service. This place is a hidden gem In Arabi. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly. The food and drinks are absolutely wonderful! Kitchen table cafe has by far the best drinks in St. Bernard parish. The reason I say this is because they actually know how to make real cocktails not just the sugary watered down stuff every other restaurant offers. Their food is very delicious and always on point! They often have live music and when the weather is nice outside seating. Over all I give kitchen table cafe a 10/10 read more

My friend took me here for dinner on a Thursday night. Not many patrons but the staff were lovely to us. We started with some strawberry cocktails that were very good with fresh strawberries, sitting in their outside courtyard reminiscent of Belize, my friend said (personally, I haven't been.) We started with an appetizer of the oysters with blue cheese, bacon vinaigrette. This was misstated in the best possible way. It was a pile of fried oysters (a good dozen) covered in s pile of blue cheese and big chunks of bacon drizzled with something lovely that didn't seem much like vinaigrette - it was just good. So good, that I never got a picture. Sorry. My friend had the Donna salad which was bright kale with beets, pumpkin seeds, avocado, goat cheese and other lovelies. Visually, the salad was beautiful and my friend was very pleased. She also had the smoked fish spread with crostini that I sampled. It was very mild with lots of crisp bread. I chose a special, the meatloaf as I was channeling my midwestern roots. I was told it was the first time they had meatloaf. It was a great texture, dense but soft with a rich mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans, we must pause to speak of the respect these folk pay to a vegetable as the beans were bright, fresh and squeaked a bit with each bite, baptized with a scant amount of real butter and sprinkled with slivered almonds. This meal was easily enough for two (and did have a second round in a ridiculously good sandwich the next day.) This is a modest place that cares for its customers and respects the simplicity of good, local ingredients in an artful way. Do give them a try and you won't be disappointed. read more

Perfection! My fiancé and I just moved close to this restaurant and we have been talking about trying it for months! So glad we did... The Rosemary Grapefruit Drop was one of the best cocktails I've had and could have a lot more of them! We started with the fried oyster appetizer and I'm pretty sure we talked about that ALL the way home. AND how we couldn't wait to order more. So I had to come back and amend my original review. I went back to kitchen table for a second time and this time was an embarrassing situation. I was expecting my friend to order the oyster salad and forgot that he doesnt like blue cheese so he ordered the pork sandwiched and unfortunately the pork had either spoiled or something was not right because it had a very bitter and foul taste to it. My oyster salad was good but not great for the quantity compared to the price. I had alot less oysters than I had the first time and though the salad is good its not worth the price. This place is one of very few really good restaurants in St. Bernard. First and foremost the service is always good. Friendly and prompt. We have been here a few times over the past 4 years and everytime it has been on point. From the BBQ Shrimp to the Boudin Balls for good appetisers. A favorite menu item of mine is the Fried Oyster BLT on toast or any of the specials, like the different fish plates served blackened or grilled. If you have enough room for dessert try the bread pudding. Yummy food! I'm not a drinker but a good glass of wine with a good meal can never hurt. Half price wine bottle special's are a big favorite. Oh did I mention they have a large patio with live bands playing on certain nights. Romantic setting under the stars on nights when band is off. Overall I say GOTTA CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! read more

If you happen to be in Arabi (or passing thru), check out Kitchen Table Cafe. Went with two friends last night and we all agreed how good it was and how reasonably priced it was. We started with the boudin balls which were tasty and not as heavy as at some other places. They came with a side of Creole mustard which well-complemented them. Next, two of us ordered the Caesar salad (with anchovies!) and when they arrived, there was enough for us to share with our other friend. It was excellent with the dressing having a subtly lemony flavor and the anchovies nice and fresh and delicious. My friend said it was the second best Caesar salad he's ever had. First best? His mother's! Lol Then one of us had the hanger steak, the other two, inc. me, had the pesto pasta special; I had mine with half fried oysters/half fried shrimp--yummy. (Can't tell you about the hanger steak cause my pal wouldn't give me a bite but, suffice to say, he cleaned his plate.) I appreciated that they prepared mine with generous portions of both the shrimp and oysters; if anything, I wouldn't've minded just a little more of the pasta itself just to balance all the other goodies (mushrooms, asparagus, etc.) that were included. We finished with their excellent home made ice cream. The Thursday nite special of half price wine bottles made it all even nicer. My husband I found this little cafe using yelp app. We sat outside which is a cool little spot and Ms. Jennifer, our waitress, was very pleasant and new the menu which helps in making decisions for a first time customer. The prices are great for helthy good food. We first started of with the veggie split pea soup, if you get the bowl this is good for two or three people. My husband ordered a special, the stuffed eggplant, he ate every bit of it! I ordered the black bean veggie burger added the pimento cheese and WOW! Full of delicious flavors from the top bun to the bottom bun. The tomatoes tasted fresh, awesome pickles and fresh lettuce all made it that much worth it. For the side, I ordered the pasta salad and paired very well. My husband agreed that we will return when visiting NO in the future. read more

I had the hanger steak with a side salad instead of fries and the banana bread pudding. SO GOOD! This is my second week working in town and I've been looking for a cozy restaurant like this! Even though I cane in near closing I didn't feel rushed. The steak, cooked medium, was perfect and the mushrooms on top were perfectly seasoned as well as the grilled veggies! The pimento cheese spread was divine and loaded with flavor. For my entree I had one of the specials which was poblano peppers stuffed with rice, kale, corn, red pepper, and black beans covered in a delicious garlic cream sauce. My mom got the oyster blt which was probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted. Over all, the experience was great! Let me start off with a huge shoutout to my server. I forgot her name but she was fantastic. I offhandedly mentioned I wasn't going to be drinking that evening since I had the sniffles and she offered me some tea and honey. My god did that hit the spot. The refills kept coming for the tea. :D Okay, onto the food: We got some fried green tomatoes and they were yummy. Perfect. For my entree, I had the black bean veggie burger. I never get veggie burgers, ok? But the idea of a hand-made one with ingredients such as grilled corn and roasted peppers piqued my interest. It was worth it. Because it was the restaurant's 1 year anniversary, we got a complimentary piece of chocolate cake. Nobody had any room left for dessert so I grabbed it to go. I had it the next morning with some coffee for breakfast. Awesome, I'd probably order it if they had it on the menu next time I went. In a city full of culinary peacocks, The Kitchen Table is a hard-working warbler just trying to build a solid nest. The interior is cozy, but the building was clearly designed as a diner (in the 1960s, perhaps?), not a sit-down dinner spot. There's a bar with a totally decent wine list. My companion had a glass of white wine and I had a Malbec. Both were just fine. The food was hit or miss. I ordered a very fresh tossed salad and loved it. The entree was not so great - tamarind chicken with fingerling potatoes and mixed vegetables. Honestly, it was the kind of dinner my mom would throw together when she didn't really feel like making dinner. My mom is a fantastic cook - so I know when her meals are half-hearted. (And I don't complain!) But when you're out for dinner at a restaurant with a friend, you want something special. And Kitchen Table's entrees weren't bringing the heat. Aptly labeled as a "cafe", The Kitchen Table simply did not meet my expectations. My coworkers spoke quite highly of their last visit, so they figured we'd try it again. The food was quite good. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a sizeable portion of medium sized shrimp in my tacos. Granted, their chicken counterparts were 'meh'. The Boudin balls were ridiculously tasty; house made Creole honey mustard was the finishing touch. What really was unsatisfying about the experience was the kitchen's refusal to do absolutely any substitutions. No combinations for the tacos is hilariously ironic considering my table, and the neighboring, all ordered separate proteins for the tacos. Meaning that regardless, the guy was making three tacos of each variety. Quite inhospitable. Our server wasn't bad, but far from great. I'm not sure if they're trying to find their niche at The Kitchen Table, or not, but you'll get a better bang for your buck at the surrounding establishments. read more

We had a big party, so we got to try out both the regular dinner menu and the specials. This little gem is only 10 minutes away from downtown New Orleans and definitely worth the drive. I've been there twice now and both meals have been great.
