Crab omelet was good, with the occasional soft shell. It was under seasoned presumably to eat with the potatoes, but the potatoes were too salty and I hardly touched them. My friend's Lobster Daddy looked impressive and tasted fine. The biscuit is smothered by the gravy and lobster, so it gets soggy quickly! This is my first taste of new Orleans food upon landing, based on my Uber drivers recommendation. It was delicious! We dined at the bar; the bartenders were super friendly. -Scallop and Grits: YES!!! You must get this! The grits are so creamy, buttery and cheesy. It's so much better with scallops as opposed to shrimp. The gravy was a little salty, but the toast helps mellow it out. -Biscuit with Crawfish Gravy: We ordered this à la carte. I loved this gravy more than the gravy in the other dish. Really good. 20% gratuity is automatically added to all checks for parties of 2 or greater. There's also a 3% employee health surcharge added as well. I had a great experience at bearcat! The food was really great, and the ambiance was nice. I got the couyon daddy (hot) and it was pretty delicious. I thought the flavor was really great, it had nice spice without being too much. The biscuit was nice and fluffy, the fried chicken was really delicious. I loved how crispy the chicken was, even with the gravy. It was a lot of food too. The blueberry pancakes were the star of the show. I don't know what they do to make their pancakes so delicious, but it works. The pancakes had a nice crisp bite & were somehow still fluffy and light inside. The flavor was really great, and the blueberries paired really well with the slightly salty/buttery pancakes. Service here was good. It took a little bit to get our food & but considering how packed the restaurant was I think it was fine. It was a little pricy too, but not ridiculous I stopped in on a Friday around 11:00 - it was pretty packed. Exceptional meal at Bearcat. I have been to New Orleans a few times but this was my first time at Bearcat. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. I took a star off for service. The service was pretty mediocre. There was no one at the hostess table so I checked in via the IPad in front...then a hostess came 10 minutes later and sat people who arrived after me. It was confusing. My waitress was okay as well. Service in New Orleans is usually pretty friendly and she was not. More seemed she just wanted tables to get in and get out. She brought my check before I was even done eating. I was in New Orleans for a teacher's conference. I needed some amazing coffee before each session. I was so glad this place was in walking distance from my hotel. The gravy items and crab dip are all so rich in flavor but so delicious. Not able to finish it all without feeling kinda guilty lol. Worth the wait!! We waited about 30-40mins and it was absolutely worth the wait. The crab cake and corn ribs were amazing. I loved the crispy edges around the crab cake. I've never had a crab cake like this one...THE BEST! The corn ribs were nice and fresh and flavorful. I had the couyon daddy (I think that's the name). Wow, the Scallops and grits were worthy of my final NOLA meal! I was the first one in right at 8am on a Wednesday morning. The staff greeted me with smiles and told me that many people make this restaurant their first or last stop before flying. I specifically wanted scallops, since I hadn't had any during the week. The way the grits and scallops were prepared and tasty were Devine! I didn't think I was going to use the bread, but I use it to clean up all that sauce! My cousin ordered one of their fresh juices which I tried - orange - it was good and didn't taste like a typically orange. We decided to order a few things to share. We got a bearcat breakfast and did bacon and scrambled eggs. I got an egg in a hole for myself and then we got a short stack of pancakes which was 2 large pancakes and a coffee cake. As far as the food, not much in the way of changes from previous review. Potatoes had way to much salt or pepper. Tofu scramble was bland. The vegan sausage was ok. Vegan ranchero was just ok this time. Place was packed, servers hustled. The big change is a mandatory 20% tip for parties of 2 (two) or more, pretty much every table in the restaurant. Plus a 3% "employee health care" upcharge. Just raise your menu prices 25%, announce you are a no-tipping establishment, you pay your employees a living wage with healthcare, and I'll feel really, really good about eating at your establishment. Instead actual out-the-door prices are about 24% higher (about 34% higher including tax) than stated on the menu which I consider to be wrong on many counts. I'm getting tired of it. read more

She literally told customers "including myself" she " didnt give a fuck if we got sat or not"... All because we asked our place in line (after waiting an hour) for a 1 top, since there were hella open seats at the bar. Bartenders are typically nice. I eat here once or twice a week because I live in the area but today was probably my last time for a long time. I tried to go to the Bearcat Baked location around the corner and the food tasted like the day old leftovers, not as fresh.... The hype is warranted! A short walk from the hotel I was staying at, I knew I had to come here during my visit after seeing so many good things about it online. My sis and I came around 10:30a and when we walked up I was surprised by how many people were sitting outside waiting. I've never had anything like a crab scramble before but oh my goodness, I've been thinking about meal since I had it. The eggs were softly scrambled and seasoned perfectly with delicious crab running all through it, they were not skimpy! The potatoes were so crispy, perfectly seasoned and despite the bacon not being as crispy as I preferred it was a great quality bacon and so good I didn't even mind. I thought the asparagus was an afterthought and I wasn't going to bother with it but I had a bite and even the asparagus was delicious and well seasoned too and I generally don't care for asparagus. The mango lemonade was excellent and I loved it and the bottle it came in so much so that I carefully tucked it away in my luggage to take back home lol. I had a taste of the bison breakfast sausage which I wasn't crazy about but it did taste high quality. The pancakes...... the best pancakes I've ever had! The pancakes were fluffy and airy beyond comprehension, shout out to our hotel concierge for recommending them, they were superb and after eating most of my meal, I went overboard on these pancakes. Came for brunch and genuinely loved the food. The chai latte was excellent. I don't even like foam, but this one was rich and somehow worked, plus the mug was super cute. My guy loved his Bloody Mary. Both the Cajun crawfish gravy biscuit and the smoked salmon avocado toast were standouts. Bearcat is that girl. But let me start by saying the line will always be the worst part of the experience. If you plan to come, do yourself a favor come before you're hungry. Put your name down, go run an errand, take a walk, say a prayer then come back. Because yes, the wait is real. But also yes, it's worth it. I'd still wait in that line even while starving and that says a lot. Let's get into the food, which is where Bearcat shines: The grits? Phenomenal. And this is coming from someone who normally does not mess with grits. Whatever butter magic they're doing I don't even want to know, I just want more. The pancakes? Hands-down delicious. I've only had the classic ones, but the blueberry ones have been calling my name. The Cat Daddy? My go-to. That crawfish gravy is life. I do wish they'd give just a little more, but it still hits every time. The biscuits are buttery and moist not dry, not crumbly, not trying to choke you. Add the gravy and it's over. The chicken is seasoned perfectly with the best crunch and just the right kick. Not too spicy just flavorful. The crab scramble is another hit. The asparagus and roasted potatoes on the side? I have eaten at the Uptown location - FABULOUS - and wanted to try this location. My hope was for a shorter wait. Nope. The wait is still ridiculous and still no reservations accepted. There is an upstairs area in addition to a large outside, courtyard space. The location is really nice. With the miserable over an hour wait, we did have an incredible meal. Just like we did at the Uptown location. These Bearcat joints just know their flavors. The server was super friendly and recommended many items. I ordered the fried chicken with an egg on top along with the potatoes. Those potatoes though! All the flavors in the world are in that dish. It was like eating something out of Lafayette LA, like spicy, heat with perfectly cooked potatoes. I could eat those over and over again. The fried chicken was delicious so I don't want to take away anything from that. It was juicy and crispy and had spice but was not as spicy as the potatoes dish. That fried chicken is up there, top 5 in the city, I would say. I enjoy my meal so very much every time I come to a Bearcat location and am impressed that I get equally good, consistent food especially at two different locations (sometimes branching out can lose quality).
