This little diner rocks!! We tried them based on reviews and at the recommendation of our hotel staff and they did not disappoint. We were greeted by one of the owners when we arrived and got to choose our seats. The menu is fairly large so took a few minutes to make a choice. I had seen reviews that pointed me to the chicken and waffles so I had that with a side biscuit and my wife had the oyster platter. Both arrived quickly and were piping hot and delicious. The oysters were very tasty and so was my meal. Our waitress was excellent and kept our drinks filled and was very attentive. This is diner comfort food at its finest and is definitely worth a try. Overall good experience at this establishment! Very old timey diner that makes you feel right at home. The food is pretty good and filling, with an extremely diverse menu that takes lots of time to comb through. The Gumbo was alright, but the muffaletta and poboys were great. I drove all the way from Huntsville, Alabama, to try this restaurant, but it was a massive disappointment. The waitress was rude from the moment we arrived and had a terrible attitude. After we paid, she actually demanded a tip, which we did not leave. When we left, my keys were missing, and the staff claimed they didn't know anything about it. After 15 minutes of asking them to check the cameras, they 'magically' found my keys. Avoid this place if you value good service and honesty. read more

I'll be honest, my medium-rare steak was overcooked and somehow dry, although still pink in the center. My husband's French toast was made with wheat bread, which was unexpected and definitely not the preference. It made the toast fall flat, though he said it was still tasty and made well. Just wished it wasn't wheat. It's typical diner food. Nothing fancy, but solid. Maybe we didn't love-love our dishes that day, but it wasn't all bad. We had two breakfast sandwiches, one pancake, and hash browns. The pancake was the clear winner! I'd consider going back for that, but not the other two. We were super excited to have a biscuit in the South. And it was fine. The hash browns were not our favorite, but that's more because we don't prefer the potato chunk type of hash browns. Absolutely disgusting food. - biscuits were oddly dry and lacked flavor - omelettes were overcooked and had pretty much no cheese - breakfast potatoes were okay- I doctored them up with hot sauce and salsa but you can do that with just about any type of food. - the place needs a huge face lift and touch up on decor etc. The plus- the service was good. Go to Please-U!!! I was visiting NO and staying in the Lower Garden District and found this no-frills diner that perfectly personifies New Orleans. I ordered a "half" Shrimp Po' Boy and a cup of seafood gumbo. Very generous portions. The Po Boy was packed with fried shrimp, the bread slathered with mayo and had lettuce, tomato and pickles. The shrimp to bread (partially hollowed out) ratio was perfect and the shrimp perfectly fried and not greasy. The gumbo was traditional and flavorful. First time I got take-out, order was prepared fresh, hot, to my specs. Second time it was a bifurcated experience, half in, half out, after a couple of eye-opening crack-o-dawn coffees. Fell into this local spot just a few blocks away from our hotel to have a hot quick lunch meal. I had the hot roast beef plate with a generous cup of shrimp gumbo + side biscuit which I loved and my friend has the red beans and rice with smoked sausage + side biscuit which she was just meh ok with. Overall combined taste rating would be ok-good but portions for the price was more than doable especially when you're coming from the Northeast, imho. This joint has been around for decades with a Greek owner with all wait and cook staff from NOLA. A heads up, this is a no-frills place, quite busy during lunch and wouldn't really suggest using the bathroom here (through the kitchen) unless it's a MUST.
