So I had heard some good things about Sneaky Pickle- Bar Brine and I decided to finally give it a try. By day this place is Sneaky Pickle and by night it is Bar Brine but really it is the same place and just Sneaky Pickle-Bar Brine and have different menus for day service and evening service like many restaurants. On first walking in the hostess just informs you that you order with her. So I did my order and then when I put my credit card in to pay and was prompted to give a tip I didn't see the tip go through so I just put cash into their tip jar instead. When I got my receipt I discovered that my tip did go through and I had ended up double tipping. So I go and sit at a table and get my "large" iced tea delivered which doesn't look very "large" to me. I can drink a LOT of iced tea but I never got any refill and I didn't see anywhere to refill my own tea so it seems I gave a double tip for no service other than having my food made and brought to me. The ambiance in here is far better than I expected and it is a larger space than I thought it would be as well. They have a nice large bar here with plenty of old New Orleans building charm. When I got my burger it did look VERY nice and you are able to order it at the temperature that you want in proper New Orleans fashion. I found the burger to be very good and the fries were obviously freshly cut and very nicely done. Overall I enjoyed my food but the lack of actual service or the ability to even refill my own drink really detracted from the experience. There was absolutely zero reason to tip at this joint as it was like ordering at a fast food counter. So overall good burger and fries but ZERO service as even after double tipping I got nothing... They also have Vegan and vegetarian food as well here...

We went with a group and had a set menu. Many of us were vegetarian. I cannot say enough good things about the taste and quality of the food. The fried onions were described by my friend as like a Blooming Onion but so much better! The vegan Mac and cheese was described by the non vegans as excellent. We were all overstuffed as we loved every dish. In fact I'm eating cold leftovers right now and savoring every bite.

For our last meal in New Orleans, we came to Sneaky Pickle. We heard great things about this place as it had plenty of vegetarian/vegan options, something that isn't always present in New Orleans. The Bywater area seems to give me Brooklyn vibes so a restaurant like this can fit perfectly. We wanted to eat relatively lightly so we ordered 3 starters and one main to split between the two of us. The pickles were pretty good. The tofu wraps were amazing. I think the beer battered squash might have truly filled us up though. By the time we got to the Reuben, we could only eat the veggies and not the bread. The bread is admittingly quite thick. Then again, I wonder if the bananas foster at Brennan's around 4pm made eating the Reuben tough. But damn, the food was really really good. And I'd definitely come back to this area if I was to visit again.

There were three of us for lunch at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. There was not a wait and we were able to order at the register. We had the vegan Reuben and fries and the bok choy. All of it was amazingly good.

Visiting Nola for the weekend and needed a place that could accommodate vegans. Unfortunately we chose Bar Brine. We should've known it wasn't going to be pleasant when the hostess told our party of 5 we had to be out in less than an hr and 20 min. While we thought that was rude, we also understood it was a Sunday evening and maybe they had a large party coming in for a reservation. It didn't get much better. When I asked the server how the V Mac and cheese was, she stated it was popular, with a blank stare. We knew we were on our own. We quickly ordered food and one round of drinks (we were never offered more) and left. Our bill was only $150ish dollars. Thankfully we ordered everything we were interested in, because I will never go back. As a former server, I stacked dishes and placed silverware the same way, only putting scraps in the top dish. From the way the hostess snatched the plates over our heads without a word, you would've thought we broke the dishes and threw food on the floor. We felt so uncomfortable. Now for the good. : the bean dip was great. The V Mac and cheese was good, though sweet. I probably wouldn't suggest it, but it wasn't bad either. The chorizo they put on is almost like small bac'o consistency. I liked it! I definitely appreciate any vegan options, but would not get the Reuben again. The pickled vegetable plate was good, and interesting. It had pineapple and pears! The best part of the evening was the dog friendly outside eating. Such happy pups wanting love, with the owner's approval! *Had it been just my immediate family, we would have left. One person in the party is in the industry and isn't one to make any type of wave. So we stayed. The place is decorated super cute and the shirts are precious. Had I wanted to do advertising for them, I would've bought one!

Overall a good meal with a decent selection of vegan options. We started with the fried koji-cured onions which was quite good. Tasty and well flavored. Also appreciated they added some greens to the dish to help balance out the fried batter. The Mac and cheese was also surprisingly good - although maybe a bit too much of the cashew cheese for my taste. I really appreciated the broccoli and kale though. The Reuben was really not my favorite. Had too much pickled cabbage and the tempeh (as usual) didn't taste like anything. So the whole thing just didn't have much flavor. The accompanying fries were delicious though!!

Sneaky pickle is a cute spot with vegan options. for dinner my friend and I had the following: eggplant dip (4/5: pretty good but could have used more garlic and seasoning) and grilled okra (4.5/5: quite tasty and perfectly cooked) apps w Katrina. Squid ink shrimp pasta (4.25/5: very beautiful hand pulled noodles that were thick and chewy! Shrimp was perfectly cooked but crab wasn't very flavorful and didn't add to dish like I was hoping, sauce was unique and more Asian inspired; quite goood but not mind blowing). Vegan Mac and cheese (4.5/5: my friend really enjoyed this and as a non-vegan, I thought it was solid). We were served quickly and the waiter was the right amount of attentive. Overall, I would recommend especially for their vegan options.

I just love this place! I moved to the Bywater in May (from Northern Cali by way of Memphis), and Sneaky Pickle was my very first dinner as a new local. I sat at the bar, mentioned to the bartender that I'd just moved in that day, and he surprised me and my friend with a complimentary pour of their house-made amaro. Such a thoughtful gesture -- it instantly made me feel at home in the neighborhood. Since then, I've come back multiple times, often bringing out-of-town friends, and every visit has been a hit. I like to order different dishes to share, and honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Standouts for me have been the mac and cheese (seriously dreamy) and the Wagyu beef burger, but everything is fresh, creative, and made with real care. Great food, great cocktails, great people -- Sneaky Pickle has become one of my go-to recommendations in New Orleans. Can't recommend it enough!

    Red snapper collar bone

The Red snapper collar was absolutely delicious. This and the squid ink shrimp pasta was the best food I've had in New Orleans when visiting. Lots of good vegan options too!

Vegetarian - Reuben - all starts with the bread and this bread was delicious

*** Vegetarian Review *** Starters - Buffalo tofu lettuce wrap. If you like those PF Chang lettuce cups, you'll absolutely need to order these. The tofu is perfectly fried and has that sticky chew for a great texture. Gnocchi - nice texture to the outer crust. Savory sauce. This was a winner. Reuben Sandwich - full disclaimer. I don't like sauerkraut and cannot stand rye bread. So, I got the sauerkraut on the side and finished the entire sandwich, bread and all. Sandwiches are all about the bread and I cannot confirm or deny, but this must be a house made bread. Thick slice and a gooey chew. Overall - great vibe here. Ended up buying a hat just because I was in the moment. Service is super attentive and friendly.

Awesome vegetarian and vegan options. Love the inside since it's kind of bohemian. Menu and drink menu are very eclectic. I made a reservation but probably didn't need one. The neighborhood and location is great! Love the Marigny.

Amazing food! They have really great vegetarian options. The restaurant is very cute. Will go again next time in New Orleans!

This beautiful bar is located in the swanky Hotel Peter and Paul hotel, located in the Marigny neighborhood. It's also attached to an equally stunning restaurant that's perfect for blog or instagram photos. Our bartender offered great conversation and gave good recommendations and descriptions of the various cocktails. I had the Sonnet to my Wife, made with mezcal, St. Germaine, aperol, and lemon. Tart and mildly smoky. I also had the Adding machine, made with tequila, guava, velvet falernum, pomegranate, and lime. A little sweet, a little spicy with a complex flavor profile. I enjoyed both drinks. If not for my husband, I would have stayed for at least a few hours trying the whole menu. So many beautiful cocktails to choose from. They have beer and wine as well, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice. You can get those anywhere. They also have breakfast with eggs, sausage, omelettes, pancakes. Dinner with savory little numbers like smoked bone marrow and braised short ribs with smoked gouda polenta. Salads, grilled quid, pork chops, scallops, various veggies (crispy brussels sprouts, caramelized leeks, charrted broccolini, roasted mushrooms). I would gladly return for some of these delicious selections.

Dinner was good, but probably would have been great had the service been better. (The manager and the server apologized, and if we had more time were willing to comp a meal if we could revisit. Unfortunately, we were leaving the next day, so they did the next best thing: they comped almost half of our bill. WELL DONE!) The restaurant is very inviting with parlors and an atrium. The tables are spaced well apart for noise and a possible romantic dinner/Breakfast. :-) Once seated, the server was working very hard but found us. (They may have been short since the jazz festival was in town) She took our drink orders, which arrived quickly. She explained the menu and let us think about our choice. The drinks were Flaura and Fauna, and Ballad Inventory. Both were unique and tasty. When our server returned, we ordered all of our items. We ordered Chicken under a brick and Braised Short Ribs for entrees. We ordered Roasted Mushrooms, Charred Broccoli, and Dinner Rolls. The Kitchen fell short in timing as rolls arrived at the end of our meal, and a few dishes were lukewarm at best. When refired, they were very good. ( See above) The meal itself and the surroundings were good. At the end of our meal, the manager and the server came over and apologized and told us they would be talking to the team. When the bill arrived, the manager had comped more than half of our total bill *( drinks, bread, mushrooms... $ 168 to $85). We didn't expect this, but it shows how much they care to make things right with customers. Elysian Bar and Restaurant is worth visiting, and you should visit for dinner or breakfast. ,

But it just looks really nicely decorated because it's classy. I attended the world-renowned Drag Brunch & sat at the bar. Before hand they do ask that you pay $25 to reserve your spot, it goes towards bill. They refund it if you cancel within 24 hours. They WILL call & text to comfirm you're still attending. They are really big on confirmations & logistics. They are super duper organized. (Idk why but I always worry dinner shows are always so rushed and disorganized from prior experiences.) I love that they can handle large & small groups. They def know how to work the room. I love how organized and professional they all are. Some busy places can't do that. Ya'll i didn't know they had pool! For $20 you could be swimming in the pool area. Kicking it! You get to have option of ordering off brunch or dinner menu over there. Would def recommend for change of scenery. I tried the Crab cheesecake. It was so good! I wasn't expecting it to be. I saw it and was like what the heck, why not. No other people on Yelp took a picture or probably ordered it. It was such & creamy with fresh lump crabmeat. (Imagine a cream cheese seafood stuffed pepper minus the pepper.) it had some sauce with it that really paired well with it. That mimosa I had was strong. I watched them make them, soooooo yes. Lol they know what they're doing. Loved the airline ice breaker bit. Too cute. All strutted out looking more fierce than a peacock. 0 complaints. This means that they can't perform for all customers at once, which is fine. BUT, they had 3 performers, and I think they could have had 2 performers going at the same time to get more coverage between rooms. Or, get more performers. Honestly, the show needed a little more variety. One of the servers said he had auditioned as a dancer but they didn't have a spot, but I would argue they very much do. It would have been nice to see more than 3 performers. They do give change, so if you're worried about getting cash from an ATM or that you only have big bills, worry no more! They have a guy that goes around at the start of the show and gives change. Service was good, mimosa ratios were great. Food was also good. We had the pork chops, crab curry bisque, and truffle mac and cheese. All were great, especially the crab curry bisque. I'm not sure how you get bar seats, but that seemed like the place to be. It's where all the performers seemed to start and had the best view.

Four delicate leaves of butter lettuce with a creamy dressing embrace tiny succulent squares of perfectly fried tofu smothered in Buffalo sauce. It's divine and you should order these no matter what. The other remarkable attribute of Bar Brine is the service. We had the sweetest waitress and she was totally understanding when my friend sent her frozen drink back because it was more strong than sweet (she's a bit of a wimp oh well). She was also very attentive and helpful with the menu. I love Sneaky Pickle, when during the day there's plenty of vegan lunch options and a bright, sunny dining room. At night, Bar Brine turns sultry, boozy and edgy/romantic. Perfect for a date or group of friends (though admittedly the acoustics reminded me of when it was Maurepas years ago and how loud it was in there). My friend and I couldn't stop going on about the Buffalo tofu and naturally were excited for the main course, grilled trumpet mushrooms over grits. Unfortunately, this is nowhere in the league of the tofu dish and it may be because I don't love rubbery textures, but I found it bland. The grits are coarse and not too flavorful either. Salt helped but I can't recommend this entree. I'll definitely return for doubles on the Buffalo tofu and hopefully will try the tempeh reuben or cauliflower vegan options next time. Also cool because your vegan-dubious friends can order meaty fare here if they don't trust and believe that the Buffalo tofu ranks up there with the best things you'll eat in this town.

I offered to order food to-go so we could at least sit down and get started while waiting, and she told me if I did that they would remove our name from the waitlist because "you have to pick one or the other." No willingness to problem solve whatsoever. She repeatedly said she was "sorry," but her actions showed the opposite. I was simply trying to work together to find some reasonable solution instead of continuing to watch everyone else get seated while our family, including small children, kept waiting. Absolutely horrible customer service experience.

My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Supposedly…read morereservations were hard to get, but that is because they allot most of the place for walk-ins, so you don't need to put in the effort that I did to book a time a month in advance. We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.
