Prices are very reasonable comparatively and based on quality.

Finally had time to stop in and try this out - it was very good! They have breakfast all day so that's what I did - everything was yummy! They were out of hashbrowns at 2 pm, but replaced them with fries - which were great! The toast made with home made bread was bomb! Jamie also really enjoyed his ham and Brie sandwich. And we came home with a whole loaf of bread. Service was fantastic too!

Biscuits and gravy with fruit $16 and a side of hash browns $5

Today was the grand opening of The Kitchen Witch & Bakery. The vibe was pretty energetic and the staff was working hard! There's a couple tables and even a counter you can eat at. Reminds me of an old school dinner the way it's set up but with a modern decor. I ordered take out today, biscuits and gravy ($16) with a side of hash-browns ($5). The server at the counter was super sweet and helpful. There was another server who was asking the server helping me for menus and when she didn't get them for her she yelled thanks in a sarcastic manner which was off putting for me as that server was helping me at the time. Ok so the food... the biscuits were golden and good. The fruit that comes with it was nice and ripe. The hash browns were not it though & neither was the gravy. The gravy needed flavor. It was pretty bland and the hash-browns needed to be cooked more. There are some kinks to work out but I'm hopeful it will become better with time. I would like to go back and try some desserts one day.

The staff were friendly, the ambiance was nice, the Locomoco was $20 but it was really good, would definitely recommend checking it out.

A very cute place and the service was excellent. We went for breakfast and got the Eggs Benedict with cab cake and the Meat Lovers Omelet. Both tasted lovely and were filling. A fair price for a quality meal. I am looking forward coming back and trying the other items on the menu.

Cute eatery in Puna Kai Shopping Center with a simple menu. Stopped by to get breakfast. Bacon was too hard. Nothing that can't be adjusted in the back of house. The "Joe's Scramble" was scarce on the ground beef. We locals need more meat in there. Also tried the lilikoi cheesecake....does NOT taste like lilikoi at all. It has a funny sweet taste to it. HOWEVER....The staff and service was EXCELLENT...TOP NOTCH!!! Will definitely be back again to try other dishes.

    Opening day

Run, don't walk to The Kitchen Witch. One of the best cozy restaurants on the Big Island. Huge menu, super-friendly owner (Dianna) and staff, and quick service. My husband had chicken and waffles for dinner and I had the poke bowl. Both were onolicious! The fresh and creamy lilikoi cheesecake was THE BEST. We will be back again!

    Turkey havarti Sammie

Went for dinner on their opening day and not disappointed! We ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls and boy we really liked them a lot. Could have used a little salt on the inside but we definitely be getting them again. Husband had the short ribs and really enjoyed them. I had the turkey and havarti sandwich and it was amazing. Huge portion, fresh bread. Only ate half and brought the other half home. The fries!!! Fried perfectly! Salted. So good. We look forward to going back and trying some more selections.

    Raw chicken

Avoid! Chicken was raw and the rest of the food was just plain not good (eggs Benedict and Buddha bowl) the service was slow despite being very slow and when the manager came out to see the raw chicken, she was not friendly and reluctant to make it right. Despite the poor experience, I am grateful for the reminder why I usually eat at home

Raw bloody chicken and waffles. Waiter said she could give us %10 off. The dish was not edible. Zero star review

    Joe's Scramble & hashbrowns.

Delicious food, friendly staff, comfortable seating. I've had the roast beef sliders and the cauldron burger. Both were excellent.

A solid neighborhood spot with a few standouts and some room to grow…read more We've been to Kaleo's a few times now, and we'll definitely keep coming back. It's close, there's always parking, and it's got that laid-back, local energy where you can laugh loud and no one's going to shoot you a look. It does get loud inside, but in that kind of way that makes it feel like everybody's having a good time, not like you're in a cafeteria. Just don't expect a quiet dinner conversation, unless you're reading lips. The service? Always sweet, always kind. Lily (I think that's the correct spelling!) has taken care of us more than once and she's a gem... warm, attentive, and easy to chat with. She's the kind of person who remembers what you ordered last time and tells you honestly what's good. As for the food... Bacon Blue Burger: My husband had this last time and it was yum. Juicy, flavorful, hits all the right rich notes without being greasy. That one's a solid order. Ribs: The barbecue sauce was really good... but the ribs themselves were dry and overdone. Not terrible, but not what I'd call a win either. If they could just dial in the texture, that sauce would carry it home. Kalbi Short Ribs: Best thing on the menu so far. Tender, rich, and full of flavor. Get those. Mashed Potatoes: "All mash" is the move. They're creamy and comforting... total comfort food. Hamburger Steak: Another standout. Probably one of the best in the area. Classic done right. Thai Chicken Pasta: Watch out... it's got some serious heat! Spicy, but good. Not for the faint of tongue, but worth it if you're into that kind of kick. Lilikoi Fizz: Really tasty but heavy on the lilikoi. If they eased up and added a little more club soda, it would be more balanced. Desserts: * Lava Cake was good... warm and classic. * Chocolate Decadent Cake was just okay. It comes fridge-cold (probably so it doesn't melt), but I feel like if they let it sit out for ten minutes before serving, it would be way better. * Brownie Sundae was yum, according to my husband... and I trust his dessert radar. All in all, Kaleo's is the kind of place you root for. You want them to keep getting better, and they mostly are. The hits are worth coming back for, and even the misses aren't deal-breakers. We'll be back, and we're excited to keep trying more of the menu.

Food choices were plentiful, lots of fancy drinks to choose from. This is an open restaurant where it's open air backyard kind of feeling. Feels like an old fashioned Lu'au!!! Son ordered a sautéed fish platter & hungry husband had a fancy kine, thick burger & we were all jealous! The wait for everything was a bit long; to wait for someone to take our order, bring back the drinks & very long before we got our food. Waitress was apologetic & sincere. We didn't mind. Extra points if you're like dat!!! On the cash wrap counter some Hawai'ian arts & crafts were displayed.....oh sistah! I gotta go lookie!!! He he he !!! While they appear to be a casual, local, hippy establishment (and they are). The food and wait is worth every penny, (and pennies are more valuable now). You will hear live music when you approach building. It's bright and colorful, open air and you can feel your inner artist being inspired. The place is packed but you find a seat and listen to the laughter, singing, and sizzles from the kitchen. It's small and bundles of fruit seam to just be around everywhere. Your server gives you a menu and you think. "Oh wow! That's a bit pricy." But you're all in. Considering this place is proud of its farm to table reputation. Yes, nothing goes to waist here and it as fresh as you can possibly get. So you order and wait. And you wait, and you wait. Finally the plate arrives and it's beautiful. A paradise of fruit, veggie filled omelet and some things you're not sure if you can eat them or if it's just decoration. (You can eat them) Have you ever heard of a cranberry hibiscus? I'm not a fan of salsa with my eggs but they make their own from scratch and they also sell it. So I have to at least try it. "What is in this! Magic?" Before you know it a whole days life experience has just happened. There were ups, there were downs, and surprises. Not just from the food but the whole surroundings. Let's just say nothing was left on the plate and I have stories to tell. Our server was the sweetest older lady who you can tell just loved her job and people. In fact all the workers were just rays of sunshine and smiles. Did I just have breakfast or walk into a magical world where time stood still and surrounded me in song and colors. I swear I don't do substances, it's just that good.
