We stopped by after a doctor appointment in the area; our second time here at this store. We decided on two savory and two sweet Kolaches this time around and we also eat in-store instead of taking them to-go. I had the brisket, mashed potatoes, and cheese; I had this previously and love the tasty meat and creamy potatoes. There is cheese but not a lot, making the perfectly filled Kolache. Wife had the Chorizo, Egg, and Cheese; this was the first time trying this and she loved it. Said it wasn't spicy but very flavorful. I also had the Apricot filled one, which was so yummy, sweet, and perfect. Wife had the raspberry cheesecake, which she said was good but would just go with a fruit filled one next time. Very sweet. The Kolache are fresh baked and healthy for you. They are not fried. We purchased an assorted dozen of both the savory and fruit kolache's. The sausage, egg and cheese savory kolache are a baked sandwich ,if you will, surrounded in fresh baked bread they were very good. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was bright and inviting. There was limited inside seating and a drive through. Kolaches originated in Central Europe and were brought to Texas by Czech immigrants in the late 1800s, eventually becoming a staple of Texas breakfast culture. Traditionally they were sweet pastries filled with fruit or cheese, but Texas gave rise to the savory versions many of us know today -- sausage, egg, cheese, jalapeño, brisket and beyond. Walking in around 10:30, there was plenty of parking, no chaos, and the café itself was spotless. The kind of clean where you immediately feel comfortable ordering "just one thing" and somehow leave with a box full of kolaches. The customer service deserves its own moment. Everyone was upbeat, patient, and genuinely happy to explain the menu without making you feel rushed. They somehow manage to make first-time customers feel like regulars and regulars feel like family. In a world where some breakfast spots act personally offended you showed up hungry, this place was refreshingly welcoming. If you usually lean sweet, do yourself a favor and try the savory items too. The soft slightly sweet dough paired with savory fillings just works. It's comfort food, road-trip food, and "I'll grab one for later" food all rolled into one. A chance find while we were driving to Starbucks. Had never heard of Kolaches before, but when you enter the store there is a sweet pastry fragrance that greets you. We tried the combo pack with three savory and three sweet Kolaches. Was plenty of food for our family of five. The Kolaches were soft with generous fillings of eggs and meat. The sweet Kolaches had fresh fruit fillings that weren't overly sweet. Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend, especially if you need a fast quality option. They do make all the items fresh and do occasionally sell of their more popular selections (bacon, egg and cheese; maple pecan). read more

Love that there's a Kolache Cafe location in Gilbert now. I've been here half a dozen times in the last couple of months. They have different options for breakfast and then lunch, plus all their sweet options, all well stocked! I'm usually a sweets person, but my favorites here have been the Potato, Egg, and Cheese as well as the Brisket, Mashed Potato, and Cheese kolaches, which are both offered all day. I usually ask for these heated longer than normal, for the filling to come up to a higher temperature. Of the sweet options, I like the ones that have the cheesecake filling along with fruit, like peach, strawberry, and raspberry. It has usually been not too busy at the times I've gone in, although parking is sometimes harder to find. If you're swinging by this parking lot, I'd recommend stopping in to grab a treat! read more

Good one! Brisket, mashed potatoes: Good flavor. But I tasted mostly mashed potatoes more than meat taste. It was okay but not my favorite. Then to round out my experience I hit a peach one to add a little sweet. Hmmmmm not sure the sweet part slaps like the savory ones in my head. I've always wanted to try a kolache. They are about 20 different varieties, breakfast ones, lunch/dinner ones and then fruit and sweet ones. We ordered 1/2 dozen, was about $21 with tax. There's about 8 tables inside and there were several people eating in when we went on a Saturday morning about 10am. Many people came in for take out. Our kolaches were heated and we ate the breakfast ones while we were there and took the rest home. This cafe is prob 8 miles from our house. If it were closer I'd probably frequent there more often though if I had friends or company at the house we'd probably take them there. My knitting group met here yesterday. We try different lunch spots weekly. The shop is bright and cheerful with comfortable seating. It's small, so it's not for multiple families. Most people were picking up to go. The employees were pleasant, kind, friendly, and helpful. Everything was very clean, but it's so new! We ordered a large variety of items and loved all of them. Most of us regretted not getting more and many went back to get items to go for later. I preferred the savory items, but I'm not a big sweet eater. The sweet items were not super sweet though. The dough is bready. These are like bread rolls with filling. The combos have a couple - like one savory and one sweet with a drink. I got the 3x3 (3 savory and 3 sweet) I took some home for a second meal and sweet treats for my husband. It was too hard to decide which to pick, so I cut them all in half and ate 4 halves! They reheat well in the microwave! I bought -- sausage gravy, bbq with jalepeno, the meat with corn .... I forget the name /mexican, coconut, and maple pecan. The Bbq was my favorite! It's pretty expensive-$3 or $4 each. A negative is ... Pepsi products. I had water! If you eat there, they heat them for you. We enjoyed this place. read more

The giant cinnamon bun is giant but who needs it to be when it's dry and has barely any icing? My husband I took one bite and did not eat any more. Canned buns are better. The kolache dough was described as similar to Hawaiian rolls and they could not be further from. The dough is very dense. I had the cherry cheesecake kolache and the cheesecake and cherry fillings were good but the dough was so heavy. I only ate one bite. The flavor just made me want a danish.
