    Loaded Biscuits and Gravy

If you're craving comfort food, this spot absolutely delivers. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage, topped with an egg--and it was delicious. Everything was flavorful, hearty, and exactly what you want when you're in the mood for a satisfying meal. Service was just as great as the food. We were seated right away when we walked in (went during the week, so no wait), our order was taken promptly, and the food came out quickly. Overall, such a smooth and enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Who's your cafe? Hoosier Cafe! Whenever we travel we always search for great diners. We found the Holy Grail of diners here. We had a vegetarian omelette with a side of crispy bacon, hash browns and a biscuit and gravy, and a Belgian waffle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's Indiana sports legends jerseys on every wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And our server, Shannon, was top notch. Try it, you'll like it.

Stopped in for a tenderloin, I'd heard they were fantastic, and definitely didn't disappoint! Great flavor, nice breading and of course huge!! Waitress was very friendly, made sure we had everything we needed!

The food was pretty good, no complaints! While it isn't the best breakfast I've had, it did taste like good old homemade food which was nice. The service was great and quick.

Nothing too Midwest about my breakfast, but it was still solid. Adding onions and peppers for $1 to hash browns was a nice touch. Eggs and coffee good for about $14.

Always amazing and delicious. I've been coming here for more than a decade and I'll always come back! Staff is friendly, food is quick, typical diner.

I really wish it were easier to find breakfast joints with organic coffee but it can be a bit difficult to find in certain areas, such as the east valley area. This was one of a couple options I could find. We attempted to dine here for dinner on a previous occasion but it was a long wait at that time so we went elsewhere. This time we showed up around 10:15am on a Saturday in June, and we were quoted 90 minutes for two people. Fortunately there was room at the bar, so we were seated immediately. The decor is very clean and subtlety higher end. It is an open floor plan with the bar towards the front door, which is also accessible from the large patio (in cooler weather times) that has mister fans and a lot of shade. They have one of the nicest and cleanest restrooms in the valley, with complementary sea salt scrub and high end paper napkins. They also have a couple luxurious event spaces, one of which was hosting an engagement party. My mom tried a non alcoholic drink special with decaffeinated tea and fresh juices, with a little flower on top. She also tried the avocado toast. She enjoyed both but she said the avocado toast was a little spicy, albeit she has an extremely low tolerance for spice. I opted for the breakfast sandwich and black coffee. The coffee came in a neat mug with an oversized handle that was very ergonomic. It was good, but slightly watery. Was at least comforting to know it wasn't laced with tons of pesticides like most restaurants' coffee. The egg, bacon and avocado sandwich was delicious. The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly, and the bread was nice and soft but not too dry. The greens on the side were fresh with a nice vinaigrette. The service was excellent, all of the staff were friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. All in all I was impressed with this place. The only thing I wish they had on their brunch menu was an omelette, because this is first place I have been in a very long time that isn't a fine dining establishment, where they actually know how to cook eggs properly. They were fluffy, moist, and light. I don't bring this up as a brag, but I attended culinary school and learned proper scrambled egg (French style) technique years ago. This is the first place I've been in a long time that gives my eggs a run for their money.

Our visit started out poorly because we spent 30 minutes driving around looking for a place to park. The front desk sent us to a valet that didn't exist and we almost left. My husband persisted and we finally found a spot. But it took way too long driving around in circles. After that drama, We had a pretty fast dinner but I really enjoyed it. First drinks. My husband got a cocktail. I wanted to order a mocktail but they didn't have a mocktail menu or any non alcoholic drinks anywhere. The waiter tried to describe them but that didn't work. Please get a menu. Ended up with lemonade bc I didn't know what to order. We ordered the tuna ceviche appetizer with plantain chips. I don't normally order things with chips but It was delicious! Great spicy kick and definitely the best thing I ate. Loved it. For dinner I ordered the lamb. I also really enjoyed this so much. The lamb was delicious (a bit unseasoned though). Also the garbanzo dish that came with it was unbelievably great! I was actually amazed that a side could be so good and I just wanted more of it. My husband ordered the seabass. Unfortunately it was underseasoned and way overcooked. The side wasn't great either. He ended up eating one of my lamb pieces. The vibe of the restaurant was great and the waiter was helpful and friendly. Will return if I ever want to brave the parking situation again ! Side note for the business: the door on your last bathroom stall was installed backwards. I struggled inside bc there was no hook for my purse or sweater when I went in there. After I was done precariously balancing all my things on my lap, I found the hook outside the door (I checked and the other doors were installed correctly). Probably should fix that bc it was very annoying for women that need access to their purse in the bathroom.

We were greeted immediately when we walked in and brought straight to a good table in spite of our early arrival. Within a couple of minutes Erin our server came to introduce herself. We began with cocktails. A double Makers Mark on the rocks and a straight-up Tito's martini. Both done just as we like them and generous. First course was the Calamari. We're former New Yorkers so being a Calamari snob is expected. This offering, which delivered a bit of Scungilli as well, was really done well. Not heavy on the bread crumbs and not at all rubbery. The accompanying sauce was very tasty. We followed up splitting a Caesar Salad that we devoured. When we ordered our entree, Linguini and White Clam sauce, we asked Erin about the portions and she read us well. She suggested that we might be overwhelmed by the size of it so we split that also. Turned out to be a great idea. We devoured that too. Done just the way I like it. So good that I ordered a glass of Italian white wine to go with it. Normally, we don't have dessert but, Erin didn't bring the dessert menu. She just looked right at us and said: "We have the best carrot cake in the entire valley"! I must say that presentation was tough to look down my nose at so we split an order of carrot cake. I think I can say it really was the most interesting and best carrot cake I have ever had. Throughout the entire meal Erin kept an eye on us and made sure there wouldn't be a reason for us to wave her over. She's definitely a pro. She was even nice enough to laugh at my really bad jokes. A shout-out to the food runners as well. They were on time, friendly and polite. In closing, I have to salute the management. The dining room was clean, organized, and nicely appointed. They have attracted a pretty nice clientele if my observations were correct. There was plenty of conversations happening but no shouting or yelling. It is just a comfortable place to have a nice dinner out. I highly recommend this restaurant. Give it a try. Everything else was terrible. And please note by my reviews that I'm an easy grader. Went with my uncle for lunch. We each had the three meat plate. I chose fattier brisket, pastrami and ribs plus two sides. This came out to ~$36 each. Total bill for the two of us was over $100 by adding drink, cookie, tax and tip. My uncle got kielbasa, brisket and pastrami. Our guess is that the food is brought in sealed and they microwave or use some similar reheat method and do no "cooking" there. All of my meats were beyond dry. It's really hard to convey how dry. The ribs were the biggest terror point since not only was it as tough as leather but it tasted like it was doused in iodized salt. My uncle's plate was not any better. The kielbasa was sliced and overcooked so badly that the sliced edges were burnt and frayed - you've got to really try hard to screw up preserved sausage. I could only do a few bites and threw it all in the trash. They were getting busy and I was not going to stand back in line with trays of food to broach the problems. They make sure to ask for a tip at time of order but there's no service for quality control. My uncle texted me later in the day: "Today's restaurant was such an awful choice for BarBQ. I can't remember when I had worse. We have to go to a real good one next time." It is crazy how bad this lunch experience was and a rarity that Yelps score misses the mark so badly.

My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all!
