The only complaint I have is that I wished they put more pork skin in the sandwiches.

Oooh The Kroft. I visited the Anaheim Packing District recently when I was in town for a conference and upon recommendation from family members. We walked around the place a couple of times, looking at all the small local eateries we could eat at. They asked me- and seeing how The Kroft looked like a gastropub, I chose it. The seating area has a few tables, and the menu is extensive. I got the porcetta sandwich- a pork sandwich with lightly fried pork cracklings on a delicious bun. I actually really enjoyed the bread. I also ordered some of the garlic fries. Whoa. There were some definite garlic going on in there and I liked it! It wasn't too fried either so it didn't become a hot soggy mess later on as well. By the time we left, the line was out the door. Try it next time you're in the Packing District! I highly recommend it! read more

Been to the Kroft a few times now and they've been consistently great. Country fried chicken, braised short rib, original poutine. It's all good. And there is enough to share with at least 4 adults. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Recent visit, I ordered the wrong poutine, my sister went and ordered correct item and the cashier changed our order with no complaints, difficulty or extra charge. I highly appreciate establishments that take situations into consideration and act in the most mutually beneficial way. Major props for that. Line can get a bit long, but it's worth the wait. I'll have to try something other than the poutine next time I'm there. :) read more

Social media can be so misleading. If only this place was as good as it looks. I regret going all the way out there to be deeply disappointed. No line right before the lunch time rush on a weekend. Food came out really fast, too. We got a short rib sandwich and poutine. Short rib sandwich was really bland - it did come with a container of gravy, which helped somewhat. Gravy was pretty good. Poutine is huge, but I wish the fries were crisper. They got soggy pretty quickly and came with only a few pieces of cheese curds. All in all, it was a decent meal but nothing I'd wait in line for. read more

We came to the anaheim packing district at around 8:30pm on a sunday and omg, it was still so crowded. The line wasn't very long but they were out of sandwiches (sadness). My friend ordered the chicken pot poutine. It was expensive at ~$8 for a box of fries + gravy goodness, but what the hey, I'll pay a little extra for good food. The fries were crispy and delicious despite the gravy (a good sign!). There wasnt very much chicken (unfortunately) but overall, the fries were good. I'm not sure if they were worth the price though. Also, I thought it was a little odd how the cheese wasn't melted. Was it supposed to be? I'm not sure, it wasn't cold but it was strange (not that it was a bad thing but it made me friend and I wonder...) Overall, I'm not 100% sure I would go back. I came to the Anaheim Packing House over the weekend and the place was crowded with people. While I was waiting for the Kettle Bar, I decided to grab a little snack with my boyfriend since they said our wait was going to be at least an hour. After hearing so many things about the Kroft on instagram, I was definitely excited to try some poutine fries! I'm Canadian, and we Canadians pretty much live on poutine .. just kidding no we don't. The short rib poutine cost almost $10 with tax and the wait was maybe 15 minutes to get the food? Luckily I decided to try it before the rush came in because by the time I got my food the line was almost do the door. YAY!! I finally get my food, in all its glory. I was kind of sad to see the portion size though because for that price, I could get a huge order of chili cheese fries at the Hats.. maybe even 2. But oh well, I guess I'm paying the price for hanging out at hipster central. The meat was super tender and breaks apart when you stick your fork into it. That part amazed me, but there was nothing really special about it that would make me want to get it again. The flavor of the entire thing just didn't make want to have it again. Words can not describe the happiness I feel while eating The Kroft. On two separate occasions I've tried the following: Loco Moco Poutine - I don't think I've ever had a more delicious dish centered around a plate of fries in my life. Ever. Hamburger, ketchup, fried egg, gravy, cheese curds and fries. Is there anything better? Porchetta Sandwich - This was tasty, but it wasn't as insanely rich and decadent as I thought it'd be. Also the cracklins are a little more on the hard, dense side rather than light, airy and crunchy. It was good, but when compared with other things they serve, you can definitely eat better here. Short Rib Sandwich - This checks all the right boxes. There's many complex flavors in this sandwich and you can taste them all. I only had a bite of my girl's sandwich, so I really can't go into too much detail. Perhaps next time I will try a whole one. Country Fried Chicken Poutine - GET IT. JUST GET IT. Mind blowing good. Their fried chicken is juicy, crispy and perfectly seasoned. Bacon is... well bacon. Bacon is always amazing. And their country gravy is thick and hearty with an awesome flavor. I was pretty excited to try the poutine here since a lot of people have been raving about it. The service here was extremely fast and friendly. I ordered the braised short rib poutine and I honestly thought it was mediocre, I expected it to be a little bit better. I felt as if the flavor was off because the whole time I just tasted the super dense gravy and the braised short ribs were way too salty - it wasn't an even mixture of both. The only thing that was good and flavorful was the sweet red onions. This review is a little mixed for me. My boyfriend and I decided to have a last minute date night and ended up at the packing house. I'll start by saying the food here is incredible, the chili Mac and cheeseburger fries made my night. (Cheeseburger fries were a little dry, maybe a dipping sauce would improve it even more) I also tried one of the sandwiches, but it wasn't very memorable. Okay, so the reason this place isn't getting at least a 4 is because of the staff! Uninterested people, they don't really care about being there or you. They brought the experience down for me. Most people don't know I can speak Spanish, so I have caught a few talking about me while standing next to me. I heard some of the cooks rating me, they were checking me out and it was making me uncomfortable. So I just looked at them and stared. They finally caught on that I could understand them and they both ran off to a corner in the kitchen where I couldn't see them. This place was very busy Friday night and they did an amazing job with it being only the 2nd weekend they have been open. My husband and I ordered the grilled cheese and prime rib sandwich along with two orders of fries. The grilled cheese was delicious! Crispy buttery bread with melting cheese and grilled onions. It sure hit the spot. My hubby loved his prime rib sandwich. The meet was shaved nicely and just melted in his mouth. He was drooling over the au jus... Possibly the best place in the Anaheim packing district. Great flavor, you can taste the time put in to make such well developed flavors in the meat and Au Jus. We had the prime rib sandwich and it was both savory, and satisfying. I normally am not a fan of horseradish, but I like to eat food as it comes before making modifications especially when trying something for the first time and I don't regret it. Very balanced ratio of bread to meat and flavors were spot on. Even with the long times, lack of seating, and small menu, I wouldn't mind eating here every time I come to the packing district. Drinks are kinda of pricey and you may want to prepare yourself for at least a thirty minute wait, but once you order your food comes out fast, delicious, and hot. (I got a good laugh reading complaints about how hipster this place is, however you fail to mention about how hipster the entire packing district is. I ordered loco moco poutine ($10-fries, cheese curds, gravy, fried onions, fried egg, ground beef) because I saw everyone carrying a box of it (assumed it was a must try) and frankly I wasn't satisfied. The overall feel to the place was very aesthetic which made the meal technically better but I won't be ordering this again. Personally I should have just gotten the original poutine. The ground beef for me didn't work. Also in terms of the dining experience to the overall Anaheim packing district it was pretty hard finding seats (but this was a Friday night!) and people asked if they could have our table in 20 minutes, pressuring us to eat quick. In general I would go back to the Anaheim packing district but maybe I'll try something else next time because the poutine did not live up to my expectations read more

The Kroft, located in the ground floor of the Packing House (like a super-rad food court), popped up on a Yelp search and I honed in based on the reviews. When I arrived, I was surprised by the small menu, and the even smaller seating area. You'd be extremely lucky to grab a seat at The Kroft, but there's seating all over the rest of The Packing House, no worries! From the small menu, I ordered the prime rib dip and the chicken pot fries. Let me break it down for you: Prime rib dip is THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. It all starts with a great bun, then it puts the moves on with mounds of sliced prime rib, caramelized onions, and the option to add cheese (which I did!). The slices are a healthy size, 2mm if I were to guess. Yes, the prime rib is a little too overdone for my liking; it looked like a medium well, though the taste and tenderness was all there. Chicken pot fries weren't nearly as good in comparison. A medium portion of relatively bland fries mingling with pot pie filling that isn't a far cry from something you could find in a can. Big cheese curds and small whole green onions were a big plus. All in all, I'd definitely recommend The Kroft to someone that is looking for good eats in the area, especially if you're looking for something on your way to/from Dland! read more

I got the highly raved short rib poutine. I was expecting the beef to be more chunky or more whole-pieces, instead it was likened to really over-cooked pulled pork with no hint of beef flavors. If this was a blind test, I'd think based on the texture it would be. The meat was falling apart not from a bone good, but falling apart from within itself-nearly all the beef were stringy. I ordered the porchetta sandwich, which is my ultimate favorite sandwich in the world. This porchetta sandwich is served on an excellent chiabatta sandwich with some arugula (gotta some greens), pork loin with some cracklings (aka chicharrón) and a green sauce. This porchetta sandwich departs from the original Roman version, but it's damn good. What I loved about it was that the cracklings were used almost as a topping so you're insured cracklings at every bite (who doesn't love that!). What was true to the porchetta sandwich was the taste of Rosemary, which is essential. Overall pork loin was super moist so it was never dried out, which can happen with pork. read more

I placed an order online and got the French dip, Poutine fries, brussel sprouts, fried cheese curds and fried chicken sandwich. I was very unhappy with the service and the food. I went to pick it up and had to wait 15mins for them to get my order together even though I got a notice it was ready before I got there. They wouldn't let me check my food before leaving. They stapled the bag shut and I get it for COVID safety but then there was no way to confirm I got everything. I had to walk out to my car and check it, only to find that i was missing the fried cheese curds! I called the restaurant to ask about the order and see if they could have one ready so I could walk back up from the parking lot and they gave me attitude and just said "take it up with grubhub". They didnt offer to replace it or help in anyway! The french dip came with NO DIP whatsoever! The meat was dry and the brussel sprouts were supposed to have bacon but was just oily. I expected the short rib poutine to be way overpriced (at $9) and meagerly portioned, so I was pleasantly surprised when my girlfriend and I were both full after sharing it- and we had leftovers.
