I had to wait in line so long. & when I got to the cashier, I ordered roast beef dip or something like that & the garlic truffle fries. Yuck! It was the worst food I've ever eaten. The perfectly cooked fries, crispy golden outside and fluffy inside covered in cheese curds and savory gravy... dude I want some now. The first time I came the line started from the stair case and now I know why, don't worry though it moves pretty quick. I tried the pulled pork poutine and fried chicken sammich with jalapeno coleslaw. I really liked both. The picked onions was a perfect complement to the pulled pork, cuts the fat of the cheese curds and gravy . Loco Moco poutine was also tasty, though I prefer the pulled pork version I would be happy with either or. The Country Fried Chicken Poutine here is loaded with nuggets of fried chicken, cheesy curds, bacon bits, gravy, and fries. If that's not enough for you, then I don't know what is. The Chicken and Prime Rib sandwiches here are really good as well. My personal favorite is the Chicken. Usually a line here, but it moves fairly quickly and service is very friendly. Geez, one of worst customer service experiences I've had. Cringey awkward. I've been here twice, gave it another chance bc my country fried chicken poutine was pretty good the first time. Young girl at the front counter clearly hates her job...she has no problem showing it and when you ask her something it's so awkward like she's so bothered she has to do the task you asked of her politely. Pork belly sandwich was so bland. Chewy, piece-y and rubbery and doesn't really melt in your mouth the way it should. I even asked for salt to add to it, I tried my hardest to like it. If the line is too long at PopBar, come here instead first. I think the Kroft is the overall MVP out of the wide selection of specialty food spots to hop between at the Packing District. It seems like the overall consensus is to get the braised pork pontine fries and the prime ribeye sandwich, but if you're betwixt the two I'd go with the pontine fries. The pork is tender and the cheese curdles make an overall nice compliment to the potatoish portion of the dish. Also the mint lemonade is great; sweet and not too tart unlike other lemonade where it leaves you thirstier than where you began. Must I be the dissenting voice in this forum full of supporters? Let me say this, so that you don't attack me all at once. I liked The Kroft, but as much as I liked it, I wasn't even convinced enough to give it more than three stars. The two stars came about as a result of the shortcomings that ensued, which are only linked to the food. The staff were all nice and worked quickly, so no complaints on the service. I got to try the chicken pot fries poutine and the porchetta sandwich. So I'll start with the fries first. I'm not one to go crazy about those fried treats everyone loves to eat, but since I've never had poutine, this was my chance to try it. My thoughts; throw gravy, chicken, cheese, garnish it with pepper and chopped greens, and that's your poutine. Now I'm aware it's meant to be a simple dish, but when the taste matches the approach I'm not fully sold. On to the next one. The question is - must I repeat myself? This massive pork sandwich seemed to have all the fixings that screamed out goodness, but once again I wasn't blown away. Composed of pork belly, loin, cracklings, salsa verde, all on ciabatta. The savory component was there and oddly aji came through and what should have been salsa verde - I'm not sure if they meant for the salsa to be that way but I have another idea of what salsa verde should be. It had good flavor though. All that and how could all this be so plain? I don't know, maybe my taste buds were having an off day but I don't think that was the case. This place is located on the first floor at the Anaheim Packing District. There are a few tables and seats here with a TV mounted if you need to watch a foot ball game or something! First off let's just say that potatoes are amazing. The poutine's at the Kroft are delicious and worthy of being a potato dish. If you love french fries/potatoes, you'll love the food here. Within the span of 3 days, I came to the Kroft twice and enjoyed my fooding experience there. The first time I went, I split the Short Rib Poutine and the Chicken Pot Pie Poutine. The Short Rib was delciious: tender, soft, and full of flavor. The sauce that accompanies the short rib mixes very well with the fries and makes it a definite win. The Chicken Pot Pie was delicious as well, but if you don't eat it fast enough it starts to get the fries too soggy. There was also not as much chicken in the pot pie as I had hoped. If I had to choose between the two, definitely the short rib poutine. The second time I went I had the Porchetta Sandwich. The meat itself is very well seasoned and the bread is soft and easy to bite through, while not being too soft that it falls apart on you. The green sauce that comes with the sandwich is interesting, a bit sour but still delicious. Definitely worth checking out if you're not in the mood for endulging a crap ton of delicious potato carbs. TL;DR Great place to try great variations on poutine (french fries with gravy essentially, I'd expect nothing less from our Canadian friends) and sandwiches. read more

Restaurant is a walk up counter in the huge Anaheim restaurant hub at Anaheim Packing House. Service despite being busy was super fast and the food was delicious! We had the porchata sandwich, short rib poutine and the southern fried chicken poutine. Waaaaay to much food for two people. Servings are very generous and even with carboloading for a half marathon this weekend we couldn't finish it. Highly recommended! read more

This is my favorite restaurant at Packing House! The french dip is the only sandwich you should order. The beef is extremely tender and the au jus that the meat is cooked in is so so flavorful. I added mustard into this and was in heaven. The shortrib sandwich was just okay. The meat to bread ratio is waaaay off on this sandwich. There isn't too much flavor in it either. First timer here! I was super excited coming here because I heard so many good things about this place and it was SUPER hyped up! The short ribs poutine was so good. It came with short ribs, short ribs sauce, chopped onions, and cheese clumps. The short ribs pulled apart so easily and meshed well with the fries and cheese clumps. The fries are initially crunchy, but of course with the ribs and the sauce it softened over time. The country fried chicken poutine was delicious. It came with bacon bits, mashed potatos, cheese clumps, fried chicken, and onions. I would've docked off a star because of seating, but that is implied because every store in the packing district is small and very clumped together. Service is average. Food came out at a good amount of time. Food is very good and met expectations! Will be coming back to try more! Note: they have condiments on the side of the cashier for your liking with really good hot sauce! I recommend it with the poutines. read more

Sorry but The Kroft didn't live up to the hype... AT ALL! If you've ever tried Roli Roti's (SF Ferry Bldg) Porchetta Sandwich, you know what a good porchetta sandwich should taste like... The Kroft's version is lacking flavor on the meat, no crispy skin, and the lack of meat (for the $10 price tag). The fried chicken sandwich was a very thin cut of breast meat with salty/burnt batter. The poutine fries were okay but don't expect too many cheese curds... It's mostly gravy covered fries. For the almost $30 price tag for the 3 items listed above, it wasn't worth the wait or the money. read more

This place is amazing and one of the best in the Packing House. The only reason I don't rate it 5 stars is due to the discrepancy of prices between menus. For example with the chicken sandwiches: the tv screen featuring photos of certain menu items said the sandwich cost $10.50, the menu screen next to it said it was $9.50, and the takeout menus by the register said it was $10. We were eventually only charged $7 for the sandwich and $2.50 for cheese curds that the menus say cost $5 and only $10 for the French dip sandwich which cost $10.50 according to the menus. I would normally be happy about this but I wish I just knew what the real prices for menu items were. I would have ended up ordering even more food. If these were happy hour prices or specials, it wasn't specified on the receipt or well-advertised in the restaurant. The food is still fantastic. The cheese curds are the best you'll find in Orange County. The chicken sandwich featuring the jalapeño slaw is what makes this place stand out. I don't get the poutine often because the sandwich is too good but it's still amazing. Any of the flavors. This place doesn't disappoint your taste buds. read more

Considering their grand opening was TWO days ago, I was pleasantly surprised when I put in a massive order (7 sandwiches, 4 poutines, coleslaw and 5 mint cucumber lemonades) and it came out perfect--including a few alterations and omissions to the sandwiches. The young lady at the register knew her stuff and was cordial and professional as could be. Once again, only open TWO days?!? Also, another nice touch is the food prep guys are so close to the register assembling customer sandwiches that if you have any questions like I did--"what is Porchetta?"--they're more than happy to educate you. Ok, enough with the service... On to the food! The aforementioned Porchetta was my favorite sandwich. The texture was great with the tender pork loin on the inside in concert with the crispy pork belly on the outside. Combine that with the cilantro spread accompanying all that delicious pig and you're talking my language despite the use of arugula greens in the sandwich, which is traditionally not my favorite. The fried chicken sandwich has some kick to it, but just the right amount. Their jalapeño coleslaw does the job and sets this sandwich apart from others I have had. And I've had a lot of them. If there's one on the menu somewhere, I usually order it. As I write this review, I am happy to say that I still have a half leftover that somebody in my party couldn't finish! Others at my table had the roast beef dip and short rib and commented that they were tasty as well. The dip looked to be on a roll like my Porchetta and the short rib on a ciabatta bread that looked soaked in the juices from the tender meat. I was bummed they weren't serving the loco moco poutine this day, but the Country Fried poutine more than made up for that disappointment! The fries were cooked right on. Not too soft, with just the right amount of crispiness to stand on their own if they had to. But have no fear, the fries were not alone! Instead they were smothered with gravy and large fried chicken chunks and bacon. The gravy wasn't bland like many a gravy tends to be when you get it at breakfasts spots on biscuits or the like. Like I said before, we tried all four that were available that day and liked them all. However, if I had a suggestion to a future patron of the Kroft, I'd say be adventurous and skip the original and try one of the other delicious poutines, like the Chicken Pot Pie. The name says it all! The lemonades were refreshing and not too sweet. Just the thing to wash down all that heavy comfort food. In the future I imagine they'll expand the lemonade to a variety of flavors. Please? And if the Kroft is taking other suggestions, if I had a critique of my visit, it would be that there be a menu at the actual register when ordering. The chalkboard at the front of the restaurant is a good idea, as it appears that there will be daily changes and specials added to the menu, but it would be nice to have another menu to reference once the customer is ready to make the tough decision on what to order from a menu with so many yummy looking things on it! read more

The flavor of the meat with the cheese and onions was amazing. And a great deal as well. I will have to make the trip from San Diego again just to try the other items on the menu. Was really excited to try the Kroft's poutine as it is highly recommended and wow! it was by far the most delicious thing I've had on fries! I ordered a beef brisket poutine and a fried chicken poutine (which I liked more) but the flavor was just so juicy and delicious. I think I spent about $10 on each and the serving amount is plentiful. Definitely need to try this in your life time. The only thing keeping my 3 star to be a 5 star is the customer service. A fairly joyless place with really good fries... that's how I'd sum up The Kroft. My Fried Chicken sandwich was pretty straightforward, almost healthy tasting. It is a shaped cutlet instead of a free form piece of chicken, served on a roll with a spicy but clear cole slaw. Not a decadent sandwich at all. If you want something naughty, do not order this. I will say this... the bread is good. Kind of like French bread you find in New Orleans. The fries were golden and crispy where they should be. In a word, perfection.
