We came here on a weeknight and it was pretty crowded. There was only a short wait to order though and the good was ready within 5 minutes. They use a buzzer system so you can travel throughout the packing house and order other things without worry of missing your order. They also have self serve water at your disposal. I had the braised short rib poutine and it was pretty good. It was not a ton of food, but easily shareable and the meat ratio was good. It was a bit salty, but I suppose that is how all poutines are. Great Fusion I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. I had the chicken katsu curry fries and it was perhaps the most unique Japanese fusion I've ever had. Know that this place is usually known for their poutine as it is all over their menu. I wanted to try and gamble with myself and try the outrageous katsu curry fries and man was it way better than I expected. Nothing was too over powering, the curry sauce I thought would be suspicious but it was actually well seasoned and balanced. The chicken katsu itself was crispy and tender not dry! I couldn't decide what to get for dinner since there were so many options in the Packing House, but me and my family all somehow gravitated here and we ended up getting a variety of poutines. I got the short rib poutine, my husband got the classic, & my brother in-law got the loco moco. I've never had poutine before so I didn't really have any expectations and I was pleasantly surprised! I really liked it and it had a good fries to gravy, meat, & cheese ratio. There was way too much onions for my taste though so I just put them to the side. I think my favorite out of the whole bunch was the classic. Very very tasty! We did also get sandwiches which were just 'ok' but nothing special or anything. Overall, pretty good first time poutine experience. The wait was a bit long, but they do give you one of those alarm things that alerts you when your food is ready. You can find the Kroft in the lower level of the Packing House amongst all the other specialty foods. The menu isn't too extensive, but offers a good variety of choices. This is the place to be for poutines with unique favors. Chose the Chicken Tikka Masala Poutine which was quite tasty. The fries were crunchy and topped with slightly spicy tikka masala sauce, sour cream and cilantro. I think it does get a bit heavy if eating on your own so it's better to share. I heard about this place when a fellow intern bought poutine from them years ago when we all went for dinner. She let me try some of hers, which was the chicken pot pie variety, and they were delicious. Afterwards, I paid a visit and tried the original flavor and a few others. This is the second location for The Kroft after the one in Tustin. They specialize in sandwiches and poutine. Staff were polite whenever I've gone and service is very fast. I've tried a few specialty versions they done either on the core menu or as monthly specials, but I always keep coming back to their original poutine flavor. The fries are always cooked well without being too soft or overly crisp (like burned), the gravy is thick but a great consistency, and the cheese curds are perfect - there's always enough on each batch I get. They give you a lot for what you pay for and it's worth it. The food here is pretty good. I had the chicken katsu curry poutine and the fried bread pudding. My order took a while, I came with some friends and they got their orders before me and people who ordered after us also got their orders before me. I think it was because of the bread pudding. I really liked the chicken katsu. I feel like it had a good amount of panko, just enough to give a little bit of texture but still have a good amount of meat. Usually my all time favorite spot but recently the food has gone down hill. I assume just hiring kids with little to no work ethic. My boyfriend happen to be working in Anaheim a few streets down and we were craving some poutine so we ordered online and the time given was around a 15 minute time frame, which was fine with us because he could get there early and make sure we grabbed it as soon as it was ready to stay hot for the 20 minute car ride home. I ordered at 3:30 and they had it ready by 3:35. Their porchetta sandwich is really good - filled with a decent amount of juicy roasted pork and slathered with this cilantro pesto type of sauce (little spicy kick to it). Worth trying! Russ C. asked me what my favorite place was at the Anaheim Packing House. I thought that it might be Popbar since I had three at one time... in the past. So, I asked him the same question, "What's your favorite place here?" His answer was, "The Kroft". What's that? I had never been, so I followed him to the long line that formed before the 11:00am opening time! Wow! This must be popular! Luckily, the staff is very efficient and the line moved quickly! After circling the Anaheim Packing District several times, my friends and I decided to grab and share a few items from The Kroft. I LOVE french fries, so poutine fries sounded like a great idea. Between three of us, we ordered the Loco-Moco Poutines, Country Fried Chicken Poutines, Brussels and Bacon, and Fried Cheese Curds. Appetizers were around $5 and main items were around $10. I expected food to be overpriced at the Anaheim Packing Disrtrict and was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price at The Kroft. We walked downstairs to grab a beer at The Iron Press and enjoy our food in their patio area. Maybe this was a mistake. All the fried food might have tasted better on spot, fresh out of the fryer. The fries were not very crisp in my opinion. The brussels and bacon were soggy and overly dressed in balsamic vinaigrette. The Fried Cheese Curds were my least favorite. Loco moco poutine - as weird and crazy as it sounds, is an amazing surprise! Wow! It is so good. The only thing I will say is bring a friend and share as the portion is large and with all of the toppings (meat patty, fried egg, caramelized onions and more) you can't eat it by yourself. I mean, you could but then you wouldn't be able to eat any of the great ice cream at the Packing House. All of the poutine flavor combos are amazing. It doesn't get five stars for two reasons. The customer service was so-so, not bad but not good either. The second reason is the meatloaf. It was not heavy (probably because I shared it among 3 people) and not greasy like most places. The fries were crispy and the food came out pretty quickly. There were pieces of cheese curds scattered all over which added to the dish. Another must get is the hot Cheetos cheese curds. It comes with a variety of different dipping sauces as well. I opted to get the habanero ketchup and the garlic mayo which you can use for your fries as well. The cheese curds were warm and soft at the center but had a crunch from the hot Cheetos crust. Line is usually not that long and they give you a buzzer while you wait. So good! Went to Packing District during Covid-19 and it's at about half vendor capacity, and there are security around making sure people wear masks and eat outside. Not very many people there in the middle of the day so it was comfortable walking around, if a little odd since it was so empty! The Kroft had a small group waiting and there was a decent wait for my poutine but I got the chicken katsu curry, so it was understandable. Server was very nice. As for the poutine, I am very impressed. I love curry, and I love poutine! There is so much in this box, this is definitely for two people or someone with a bigger appetite. There was no line but we waited about 15 minutes for one serving of loco moco poutine. The food was amazing though, definitely worth the wait. My recent visit to this place was an awesome one. Despite the long waits and packed house on a friday evening, the customer service from the cashier was excellent. We ordered the loco moco and the country fried chicken and both were great. The fried onions on the loco moco and sauce was fire! Generous portions and you really cant go wrong here, especially if this is your first time. My highlight though was the cashier's service in how well we were taken care of us despite the long wait by offering us drinks on the house as well as continually updating us prior. I have eaten at the Kroft many times and normally I would say that this place is a great pick while at the packing house. Lately, it seems as though the service is starting to lack. The wait times are out of control. Even when they are barely open for the day it still take 25 mins to get a sandwich. I could live with the wait, if the food made up for it. This last time it did not. Don't get me wrong, the porchetta sandwich was so good! The bread is soft and the pork is so tender. The fried Brussels on the other hand were a major mistake. They were totally burned and they still choose to serve them to me like that. I will never understand how any self respecting chef chooses to serve food that's burned. I've been eyeing this place on IG for quite some time. I should've just got the flamin got cheese curds or skipped this place and just got a bag of hot Cheetos. My mom and I shared the chicken sandwich and the country chicken poutine. The sandwich was big but they put a pickled onion mix and Cole slaw on it which made it very wet and messy. 2.5/5 stars The chicken pieces in the poutine were very tasty especially combined with the gravy. I'm sure they'll taste great when I reheat my leftovers in the skillet and the curds melt. 3.5/5 stars Both weren't anything that I would rush back to.
