After a week of eating nonstop fried seafood on the Cape, we've been craving any form of fiber or veggie we can find -- and the Lanyard delivered. Their spinach and strawberry salad -- with house made strawberry vinaigrette! -- is exceptional. I wish more places on the Cape did salads like these, we loved the pepitas. We all split the brisket chili nachos, which had really fantastic chili with generous amounts of both brisket and beans -- with the fresh pico de gallo plus additional tomatoes, onions, etc. wasn't greasy in the slightest, (like how nachos sometimes can be) and was just delicious. Seriously a top-notch nacho experience. Everyone there is super friendly and the bar has cute -- and impressive -- collection of vintage Cape-themed vanity plates, am fascinated by how they get them -- maybe customers donate? In town and stopped in for an earlier dinner with family. Place was pretty empty so we were seated quickly and ordered fast as well. Staff was great especially as there were kids in our party. Started with the Brussel sprouts which were good but needed more sauce. Had the teriyaki salmon which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We both ordered from the nightly specials: Tuna steak with an Asian soy-based glaze and Szechuan fried rice was amazing, the tuna was fresh, cooked perfectly, and so good. The glaze was tangy and even more would've been better. Cod piccata over linguine was maybe the best codfish preparation I've ever tasted. The sauce was light but plentiful and lemon forward. We dined at the bar which was bustling and festive. The 2 bartenders were friendly, attentive, and negotiated the big, busy bar with what looked like ease. The Lanyard Grille has great food at a very reasonable price. Mainland prices on Cape Cod! The day we went there were no clams so Imhad the fish and chips. The fish was mild and cooked perfectly, just the way I like it and the fries were also delicious. Asked for tartar sauce and cocktail sauce to go with the fish, both were good. This place is awesome! We happened upon this when we had a bad experience at another restaurant we used to love as we wanted a reasonably priced but good meal. We came here for our first and last days of our vacation. The service was great (Samantha, our waitress, was awesome!), amazing pub food, and just a great family place on the Cape or if you are looking for a couple drinks or casual night out that won't empty your wallet. The ONLY thing I wasn't thrilled with was the Nachos. Unfortunately, the chips were stale, and the cheese not melted. Everything else was fantastic and made up for it, however. The clam chowder was DELICIOUS. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was as this is not a seafood specific spot. The Caprese salad was fresh, and their chicken sandwich is to die for! You've got to try it if you come here-probably one of the best I've had! We ordered the kids pizza for my little one, and I tried a piece and I have to say that it was great! It tasted like brick oven pizza (growing up in NJ, it's hard to find good pizza in New England). It sounds really odd, but the kids' cheese pizza here is where it's at! It should be an app on their menu. :) all in all, we had a great experience and will definitely return our next time to the Cape. read more

A heavy pour can be nice but two girls had to doctor their drinks to make them bearable and the other just did not drink theirs. Definitely on us to send them back, but we're pacifists... LOL. Our last visit before the pandemic was under the previous ownership when the restaurant was called Land Ho. I had scallops and chips. The chips were hot and crisp and the scallops were large and generous. The other meals served to our group were equally inviting. Chicken parm on pasta looked like enough for 2 people. Large selection of beer. Our hosts told us they felt the food is not quite as good as under the previous ownership but we did not see any difference. We sat at the bar with lots of obviously repeat customers (:-)) and had low expectations thinking it would be typical pub food. My sister and I ordered from the Specials menu. Seared Mahi Mahi with saffron kale risotto, grilled mango pineapple chutney. Was absolutely delicious! One of the top meals I've had on the Cape. Cup of clam chowder had a lump of flour the size of a golf ball in it. Smoked wings Jerk style came out and thankfully bartender noticed they weren't even dressed with seasoning or sauce. I hate giving one star or two star reviews ... I truly do. But we spent almost $150 on what was essentially one of the worst tasting meals we've ever had here. Each year when this was Land Ho! we came once or twice each week we were in Harwichport. The atmosphere hasn't changed much at all ... it has a late 1970's/early 1980's vibe with wood shellacked paneling and a bar with knick knacks on the wall. Somewhere along the line, the current owners purchased Land Ho! and got the bright idea to call themselves a restaurant which specializes in BBQ. I lived down south and have eaten BBQ all over the United States. I can honestly say this is hands down the worst BBQ I've ever had. Ever. Every BBQ item on the menu should be removed from the menu. I would be absolutely amazed if the flowery descriptions on the menu which say, 'our famous brisket ...' or 'house smoked' ... etc. are accurate. Even if you had a $50 smoker grill from Home Depot and zero knowledge of BBQ, you'd have to actually TRY to do any worse than The Lanyard. Our brisket was literally like eating rubber. A knife barely cut it. It was like overdone ham sliced thin. No bark, no 'ring', no moisture, it wasn't tender, not meaty/mostly gristle and fat. Overdone ham steak would better describe it. It didn't even taste smokey. The pulled pork was the same ... dry, fatty, no bark, no smokey taste, no ring ... it tasted like you put a pork roast in the oven on high, cooked it through in 20 minutes and then left it in an hour longer than you should have. I cannot believe this was smoked ... it would be impossible to fuck up smoking meat this bad. They had a great beer list, except they were out of 70% of them. It was easier to ask 'what beer do you have' vs. which they were out of. Not sure how you run out of most of your draft beers on 7 p.m. on a Friday during peak season. The beer we did get was poured terribly and had 25% foamy head. Beyond that, I have to say the restaurant was filthy. Our table was sticky when we sat down, the floor was dirty and there was dust on the assorted wall tchotchkes. The bathroom was a disaster. The person who got the burger was the envy of everyone else at the table. They said the burger was fine ... nothing amazing, nothing terrible. When the waitress came to clear our plates everyone who got BBQ had eaten less than half of their meals. Most took one or two bites. It wasn't even acknowledged that nobody had eaten their meal. She had to have known something was off ... yet she cleared the full plates and brought a full check. I don't go out of my way to fuck with local businesses ... I am not comparing this to the Land Ho! which was a solid 4 star. I am simply letting you know we got ripped off for a $150 dinner for 4 people and were served the worst BBQ I ever ate. Sorry for the negativity but it was such a bad experience from A to Z, I feel others should know their experience could be the same. read more

My husband and I tried this restaurant one evening for our annual Cape Cod trip. We had a pleasant enough experience. It wasn't the best place I've ever been to, but not bad either. The restaurant seemed relatively clean. It was very bar/pub-like. At first we sat at a high top near the bar but the AC was blowing directly on us and we asked to move. The hostess was very accommodating and moved us to a booth. Our waiter was very attentive and took our orders quickly. The food came out in 20 minutes or so. We were there for an early dinner, around 5pm so it wasn't very crowded. I got the sauteed salmon with cauliflower rice, peppers, corn, and carrots, topped with mango salsa. I was really excited to try cauliflower rice prepared at a restaurant and was not let down. It was fantastic! The salmon was okay-maybe a little overdone and the the salsa was good, but there was not enough of it. The entree was also supposed to come with green beans but apparently that day they weren't in the shipment order, so they didn't give me any. I asked our waiter about it and he explained and offered me other vegetables but they came smothered in a pool of butter and my husband ended up eating them. Alas. My husband got the pan seared scallops with spinach and leek risotto. He said the scallops were really good and the risotto had good flavor but was undercooked and a bit crunchy. Portion sizes were a little small but the price was perhaps a little less than some other high end restaurants. Our waiter continued to be attentive and brought our bill/checked us out in fair time. As I said, not a bad experience, but not mind blowing either. I'd go back again and try other options from their menu. Hopefully they have the supplies on hand.... read more

Servings are quite generous and the service people are very friendly. Parking is ample. My personal favorite is the fried oysters. I do not dare to eat raw shellfish and I love oysters. read more
