The TV screens are perfectly placed, the bartenders are friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The pizza was excellent -- flavorful, hot, and done just right. We also tried the meatloaf, and it genuinely reminded us of our grandmother's from years ago -- comforting, hearty, and full of flavor. That's not something you find everywhere. Even in the middle of winter, the place had a warm, lively vibe. We ended up having a great conversation with someone we later found out was the owner -- just chatting about everyday life. The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. The night I went there was live music. Though it was packed, I got a nice seat tucked away from the crowd. My waitress was great. I started off with the virgin pina colada which was tasty!
