I took my sons there this morning for back to school cuts. There was a mix up with one of the appointments but Brady was nice and reached out to me directly to apologize, I was able to reschedule and still was able to get them cuts back to back. Luc is who took care of us today and he was great. He gave my boys exactly what we were looking for and he was great with them. My boys are 7 and 4. I very much appreciate them taking them, i know not every barbershop allows kids. But now they both are set with very cool cuts. We will definitely be back. I've been around to different barbers over the last few years, and the fade is easily as good or better than any fade I've had. Matt was really nice, quiet, and soft-spoken. We didn't talk much. Got my hair cut here about a half dozen times. When you book an appointment for a haircut it says through their booking portal that a haircut is 45 minutes and it's $40 for a men's haircut. I have a basic part cut so it's nothing intricate or special. With that level of understanding and consideration I still only give this place three stars. Every time I went to get my cut I was done in 15-20 minutes. Sometimes my hair was even sometimes it wasn't. Most of the time my sideburns were uneven so after getting serviced here I'd still have to go home and put the finishing touches on myself. That's a little much for a $40 cut plus tip. $40 is pretty expensive for a men's haircut so you'd expect some consideration and a quality experience when visiting. I understand there's other appointments but with that said to rush someone through, be finished in 15-20 minutes when the booking company says it's 45 minutes for a cut and charge someone $40 for the service while the haircut isn't correct isn't right. Take your time and do right by the patron who is a returning customer supporting your local business instead of rushing and calling it good. I also bought many hair products (Reuzel) and even some t shirts to wear out in public to support them just to get that kind of treatment in return. Needless to say I won't be back here. If you have aren't looking to be gouged and rushed go to Kay Mar barbers off Tustin Ave. Not the greatest amenities but it's $7.75 for a cut and they do just as good of a job if not better. read more

Finally a barber that can cut Asian hair and not fade out everything into oblivion. Both my sons always really want their hair long and hate going to traditional barbers because they don't listen to what the kids want and just cut their hair too short all the time. Every barbershop images online show the exact same side and back fade cut way up high. But Matt at The Laylow barbers really listened and cut my sons hair according to how they wanted according to my sons. Great Experience and hair cut. I've know the owner Thomas now for about 15 years. He's been a very good friend of mine. My mom actually has done men and women's hair for over 25 years. I still get every hair cut from Thomas. The shop is clean, spacious and relaxing to come in and blow off a little steam and get your hair done up proper. They are capable of any haircut and it is also a family friendly environment. Bring the kids in, get them a hot shave! Lol Overall it's an impeccable shop. I've been waiting for this shop to open since early December and it was worth the wait. Thomas' attention to detail and execution is awesome. When I described what I wanted I wasn't sure what style I was looking for, but he knocked it out of the park and I love the cut. The decor is old school and they're not even done getting the shop up to speed. It's a great place to get a haircut and comfortable to hangout in. They have comfortable, vintage barber chairs, good conversation, and they even offered me a beer. They take walk-ins, but I recommend making an appointment because this place is going to be popular. Couldn't ask for a more convenient shop here in VP. Thomas is a master at his craft, and really puts the time and effort in to what you ask for. While the shop is still fairly new at the time of this review, I can assure you that this is his lifelong talent will impress everyone, and he will build a team of incredible barbers too. I opted for the traditional high and tight, with a beard trim and razor line up. While I didn't get my hair washed, that's a service they offer too. Sure, its gonna run you a little more than Super Cuts or Floyds, but if you get your hair cut there then you're already making bad enough life decisions as is. Decor is super rad, very mid century modern vibe that is clean, simple, and easy on the eyes. Who knew a barber could have interior design sense? He told me they are still adding some furniture and art too, maybe even their own line of hair products too. It's nice to see more young entrepreneurs around this county; kudos to Thomas for all the work he has done and is sure to do.
