They needed to get out a bit. So I googled places to visit. This popped up and was literally down the street from us. Very quiet for a Thursday, but I'm sure it could be from the heat. Lots of parking available on site. There were tons of restaurants, shops, food trucks, coffee shops, and etc....Everyone was super nice! We went to get ice cream, went olive oil tasting, had queso birria from a food truck, and visited a gift shop. Pleasant town to visit with some history. Highly recommended to make a stop.

I am moving out of the area and…read morewanted to donate some large items that are in very good shape but that I'm just unable to move myself due to distance (sofas, a bed, side and end tables, coffee table, never-used clothing, etc.). I called 2 other thrift / donation stores in the area first, just out of habit since I'd donated to them before many times. Both gave me a bit of a runaround ... one telling me I'd have to wait over a month and that I should call back if they were big items; the other telling me that I would have to pay $150 if I wanted to donate. It was pretty insulting. If I'm donating excellent quality items (including relatively new pieces from Pottery Barn and West Elm), I shouldn't have to pay a few hundred dollars to donate my goods. I called Martha's Village after talking to a friend about my dilemma. I should've called Martha's from the beginning. The process was quick. They asked me to snap a few photos of my items & said they'd send a truck the following week for free. The truck arrived at exactly the time it was scheduled, and the moving crew was extremely friendly, very careful with the items, did not scratch or hit a single wall in my home, and were very professional, complete with mask-wearing due to the covid-19 pandemic. They gave me a donation form, and everything was done within a few minutes. I was extremely impressed and would highly recommend people donate to Martha's Village in the future. Great experience.

The variety here is really nice but also not overwhelming. They have women's wear, home goods, small gifts and child's clothing. As I mentioned above they usually carry some cute clothing with logos of the cities around these parts. I missed out on getting a La Quinta shirt last time I was here and regretted it because it was so cute. When I came in today they had Palm Springs shirts and logos which are a perfect gift or just fun / casual to wear around if you are a local. This store is extra special as they support local artists and vendors. I bought a lovely candle today in this shop and it's from My Mijo Co which is local to the desert. Due to them being a small boutique and supporting local the items they sell here aren't necessarily "cheap" but well worth it in my opinion and again, they make the perfect gift and it's so much more unique and fun to find items where then some big retailer. You definitely get what you pay for and I'm happy to keep supporting them. The staff that work in here are very nice and welcoming. Always good vibes and sweet people. So happy La Quinta has this great little boutique, I'll continue to support. Thanks for today's goodies!

As a date lover, I had to try (and compare) it to that other famous place by Morongo and I will say that the Shield's date shake is thicker and more date-intense! They also had date ice cream which I will have to try the next time. I found the shop to be charming with lots of old school toys, jewelry, kitchen accessories and, of course, dates! There are many varieties sold here, including Mr. Shield's exclusive "blonde" and "brunette". There's date sugar, date crystals, syrup, jam, rubs, honey and pancake mix! I was tempted to go crazy! The theater is at the back of the shop and it is flat out old school charming. Alas, no air con. The history of this special place plays on a continuous loop and is about 15 minutes. Well worth it for the history and to appreciate how labor intensive date farming is! Fascinating. The items are all a bit pricey. There is a cash price and a credit card price on each item and everything is clearly marked. I don't mind supporting a family business and, anyway, they had me at, "date shake." Unfortunately, it was a hot June day, 110 degrees, so I didn't venture outside. If it's cooler next time, I'll definitely wander around... I will be back!

Her demeanor was unfriendly from the start no greeting, no smile, and she looked me over with a slight frown. When I asked about the Arrata brand, she told me they no longer carry it, then directed me to the back area and said the items there were 50% off and that I could check the rack in case something was there. After spending about ten minutes searching, I found an item. At that point she changed her story and said the price on the tag was not 50% off and that it was full price. This was completely different from what she originally told me. My family and I have shopped here before, so this experience was disappointing and unprofessional. I came specifically to purchase a Mother's Day gift, and the lack of courtesy, clarity, and consistency made the visit unnecessarily frustrating.
