I love the Motor City Hoodoo candles. They are incredibly luscious and are powerful. I bought Miss Cleo Mae today...the Goddess Bitch candle. I also purchased the Goddess Lakshmi oil. Everything is reasonable priced. The staff is more than equipped to handle any questions; it's a pleasure talking with people who are into what you're into. The shop carries a great welcoming and comforting energy. Classes and gatherings are offered, such as meditation circles. Parking: paid on the street or parking lots.

I went out of my way to purchase vigil candles from this store. The candles wouldn't burn because…read moreof their metal wicks (a sign of an extremely low quality candle). When I requested a refund they said because the product had been used they couldn't accept (of course they've been used, I attempted to burn the candles, which ultimately wouldn't burn). Also said they 'couldn't guarantee the quality' because they didn't manufacture them. Do not sell product you can't stand behind! I was shocked and disappointed by the terrible customer service here. Wouldn't recommend. I will continue supporting The Boston Tea Room where they run an exceptional business and treat customers with respect!

I've visited a few times for tall candles. To me, it's novelty but other people take these candles…read moreso seriously... going so far as having them "blessed" by certain staff members. You'll find candles for almost any ailment, predicament or situation. Baby mama drama, legal trouble, help winning the lottery, etc. Some of them are printed on the jar but other signs are taped onto the jar (a little low-rent for my tastes). Room for improvement includes pricing all the candles. I picked one up without a price tag and it was $8 when I got to the register, when I saw many others priced around $6 or $7. It was a gift for a friend so not a big deal. Discount Candles is a really fun shop whether you believe the hullabaloo or not. They offer a wide variety of candles, incense and oils to choose from, and they've got a large (free!) parking lot to the right of the store for your convenience. There's so much to say about this completely unique, delightfully quirky shop. It has…read morespiritualness, a great sense of humor, and a great respect for otherworldly forces. That all shines through with the candles, votives, incense, etc. that is thoughtfully shelved and shared. To add to the shopping experience, the staff is wonderful! So friendly, helpful, and just all-around cool. And if someone asks you if you want your candle dressed, the correct answer is yes.

Fantastic. They are open today until 7pm. I can feel less stress trying to locate these particular crystals. Looking for all of these particular crystals for body balance at the advice of some friends and an acupuncturist. I was looking for rose quartz, moonstone, carnelian, hematite, aragonite and the tiger's eye. How wonderful to be able to find them all in one store. I was searching for them on Amazon, but I couldn't tell their size or the texture. Crystals are a new enigma for me. I can't wait to learn more about them. I only recalled crystal necklaces being popular with some kids during school and the Himalayan salt crystals at massage places of the last 5-10 years or so. And the beautiful amethyst, since that was my aunt's favorite gem stone. It's well titled. They have a big variety of crystals, incense and more. Patti is super friendly, informative and patient too. They sell some larger crystals, but the prices climb up quickly.

Stem & Stone is my most recent fabulous find! It is the plant shop that I never knew that I needed,…read moreand so very on trend with the current buzz surrounding succulents, crystals, and crafts. Stem & Stone is tucked into a small storefront in downtown Birmingham. Upon entering, you will find yourself overwhelmed by shelves of potted succulents and containers. I found the staff very friendly and helpful, guiding me through the process of creating my own home garden. You are encouraged to first select your vessel, then succulents. I, however, was immediately drawn to two lovely plants, so I started with those and worked backward. The succulent varieties vary from dainty to tall and leafy to spiny. Choose a mix to enhance the visual impact with texture. The containers are similarly diverse, ranging from glass terrariums to lovely ceramics and pots hanging on macrame. Once you have made your selections, now you dazzle it up with colored sand or pebbles. Now, for the "DIY light" twist - The shop keeper plants the succulents for you! No dirty hands for you, Visionary. Once your potted creation is in hand, you can tap your inner zen and add some crystals or even a cute Buddha figurine! Items are priced individually, and my creation (reference uploaded image) cost about $40. I had a great time, and plan to return in the future to create living gifts with a personal touch!

We came here for a Witch Fair. When we got here I recognized this was a store we had been to but a…read morenew location. We really enjoyed the new location. Everyone here was really friendly. We liked the fairy and took some pictures. I got some crystal candy from a vendor, it was so delicious. I also bought a fun witch oven mitt from the Tea Room store, I love it, it works really well. You would not think so, but not all oven mitts are equal, some are not effective when you actually need it. We will be back and also look forward to their future fairs.
