Security guard said I had to leave with no reason and when I asked why he put his arm around my neck and choked me until I almost passed out while calling me a homophobic slur. Other patrons had to step in to stop him. Also used the N word (he was Hispanic) and grabbed my phone and threw it while I was trying to record the incident. After he threw it he told another guard to "delete what ever this n**** is recording." The other guard was confused and didn't. I filed a hate crime report with the LAPD. read more

Very Divey!! At first The Lexington Bar seems to be a venue that is not poppin. Very small, odd shaped, but at the same time comforting. Located just north of little Tokyo lies a dive bar that hosts music events. The location seems every interesting as there is only wholesale vendors and apt around. Paid a visit to my DJ friend (Meirlin), my friends and I were a bit skeptical about the location. Little did we know we still made the best of it and ended up hanging out til the place closed. Inside the venue was very interesting. There were paintings everywhere on the black walls and random signs placed in random areas. I like to say that The Lexington Bar is a legit venue for small music events as the sounds bounce off the walls just nicely. Parking: There are many street parking spot available around the venue. During such a difficult time it is so hard to find a place where comedians can step up and speak out in the name of humor and healing. Also local businesses had a chance to set up booths and build new relationships with affordable prices but incredible value on specialty handmade products. The comedy show is incredible, but what was even more incredible? Or the price of the drinks, I of course cannot drink alcohol but, I had a chance to spend $30 to buy four people drinks both alcoholic and non-and be able to tip $10 to the very hard-working staff. The comedy show was incredible these brave men and women kept it going and even though it was hard for the audience to settle in at first, the first three comics braved the melancholy response and kept warming up the audience for what would be a truly amazing show. In support of Artists they brought in people to take pictures and conduct interviews to give the comedians something to help build their careers. They always say a price is temporary, but value is forever, and I believe the work that was done at this place creates value for both business, performers, in the audience at large that's what you call a community it didn't start here, but it got better by building itself up here here. read more

I feel like I need to visit this place at least another time to fully appreciate it. My friends had a show here and it was semi empty here for a while, in an awkward dive-y feel. There is some seating, but perhaps not enough for shows when people eventually do show up. I'd like to meet the bartenders, and sit with them. I sat away from them and enjoyed dear Audrey on the wall. Sound quality is actually decent for the space, so hopefully I catch onto more shows headed this way. read more

Tonight was a disaster... The bar tender was horrible. First off there was only one bartender and he took forever to get anything. Beer, water and drinks took 30 mins. The bartender was drunk and smelled of vomit. It made me want to vomit when he talked into my face. Some drinks were over charged but I let it go since I didn't want to deal with his drunk ass. Super dive!!!!! Omg. I was looking for a dive bar near our hostel and boy did I find one here. I love a good dive bar, where the bar top is sticky, and people smoking you know what in the patio. This place is no frillls, really, don't order anything frilly. They had a good happy hour drink, forget what it was called, but it was good. And stiff. And cheap for LA. They were having an open mic or something the night I came. I might have gotten too in to one of the comedy acts LoL. It was a good place to kick my night out, I recommend it if you can handle the dive bar scene. read more

They had Sade playing during Happy Hour. Heck Yeah! Came here with 2 of my really good friends. We used a Groupon of $25. The Groupon was misleading because it shows a photo of food on the website, which makes you think that they serve food. But they don't. They only serve hot dogs (and will serve sausages and brats in the future). It's not the bar's fault though. However, we really dig this place! It's a pretty small and narrow with a small bar and about 6 tables and a water pong table in the middle. The bartender and other staff was super chill and kept talking to us making sure were ok and made really good drinks for my friends. I went Friday night for a rap show with a friend to support his friend who was performing. The venue is small, but it's a great atmosphere. Ive never heard of it until that night, but it's a chill place to go. It's diverse, casual, and the beers are cheap. What I do like about it is the decor. It's a underground hip hop joint with a classy graffiti decor. The drink selection is very small with a few IPA's, and wine. No hard liquor at all so if you don't drink beer or wine, I wouldn't suggest. The music was awesome, the vibes from all of the people was friendly and chill, and there was available seating considering the size of the location. Pro tip: There's a huge self parking structure across the street that's well lit for $8. There's food served right in front. The cover was only $10. Cons: (Ladies) there is only one restroom stall. It was clean, but there was no mirror or toilet seat covers. If you don't like beer or wine, I don't suggest you going. Their selection is tiny for what they do serve. Overall I'd return if I was in the area. No dress code, cozy, friendly staff, and good hip hop music is always a plus for me read more

I don't know if you can even call the Lexington Bar a dive...it is more of a dump. Everything about the place feels old and used. It is as if they took an abandoned store and used what ever scraps they could find on skid row to construct something that looks like an unfinished bar. The drink selection is the most limited I have seen so far at a place that describes itself as a bar. Of that selection they do have decent choices though. However, what I found most annoying about the Lexington were the 'bar stools'. They are big black chunks of wood that are uncomfortable and hard to move around. The seating area by the bar is also very narrow, which makes it not ideal when looking for a comfortable place to hangout. When I came here on Wednesday, to meet up with some friends, it was open mic night (prior to "hump day, gay mixer" night at 9PM). It was primarily comedians who seemed like a bunch of sexually repressed dudes who were fabricating stories about their imaginary sexual conquests. They were all raunchy, and mostly unfunny. The highlight was the keyboarder and singer who started their set as I was about to head outside to greet my friend. The music was eclectic, and reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite. I only caught a little of their performance, and none of the others were all that entertaining. With all of that said, the Lexington Bar has an unexplainable charm. I can't completely put my figure on it yet, but the place just has a welcoming appeal about it. It feels like one of those places that you can get attached to if they have a theme night that appeals to you. I may not ever go here again, but I wouldn't mind if I did. read more

This place is a gem. It only takes me 5 minutes to know if a place is right for me and this night everything worked. I went for a show my buddy was throwing and the acts were great. The vibe and people were down to earth and I got the chance to really know a few. The beer and drinks were perfectly priced and generously poured. Three things you need to know: 1. Drinks are cheap. I think it's free shot with drink purchase before 10 pm, which could spell glory, disaster, or some mixture of the two. 2. Beware that they are classified as a beer/wine bar; all of their "hard alcohols" are actually wine based spirits so the proof is probably nowhere near what you would think it would be considering the taste. Even more interesting is the fact that my friends and I each ordered a shot (3 in total) and they were all tequila, but they all had different colors/levels of opacity. 3. This place is pretty weird - the smattering of people that were there when we were was TOTALLY RANDOM and there were people wearing glittery capes which may or may not have been repurposed tablecloths stolen fromthe DJ booth. This bar has a wild, great atmosphere and they have a good deal on P.B.R.'s, but the best thing they have are great bartenders! Here's my story, So I was helping out my friend's band as a roadie for basically nothing, and I got so into it that I forgot my school bag that I needed the whole week for the end of the semester. I couldn't make it down there the next day and I must've called while they were closed, but I did leave a message. Well somebody actually got my message, because when I went there the next day the girl bartender there, damn of course I don't have her name like a jerk, but all I had to do is describe all it's contents which I did, and poof! I got it back! Thanks so much The Lexington! But wait, there's more! All the sudden after I left I get a frantic call from the band saying they left a keyboard power cord there somewhere and I had to go back and get it, so back I went. I called him back when I got there and he suggested I look around the stage first, and sure enough, there it was, still plugged into the house power strip right where he left it! No way right?! Try forgetting your phone or whatever at some other bar and see if your this lucky, I bet not! So the point all this makes, is not only is this bar an all around good time, but if you're forgetful for any number of reasons at this bar, you can trust this bar! So thanks a lot The Lexington! No. From the atmosphere, to the booking people, and the talent. I understand this place wants to be the "hole in the wall". Or it wants to be so obscure and indie that it is a true 'dive bar.' But it's really just a building with a bar and that's about it. I've been quite a few times, and I was not impressed. If you want a real laugh - contact their booking people Bachannal promotions.. Love this bar! One of the best dives in DTLA We fell into this hole-in-the wall one day after wandering around our neighborhood in search of thirst quenchers. The owner was super rad and played Beetlejuice for us on VHS while we drank $3 beers. Then he cut up a pineapple right in front of us and made the best pitcher of sangria I've ever tasted and sold it for really cheap. Then we went to a party in the back (patio) with vegan food. Just went tonight to their Wednesday Open Mic. The crowd was small but really awesome and supportive, unlike MOST of the open mics I've come across in LA. Tim (the owner) is somehow a really nice genuine guy whilst also being a bar owner in DTLA. Who knew it was possible? The joint itself is pretty cool looking too; high ceilings, tasteful lighting, SOFT couches/furniture. $4 draft beer happy hour, and some great choices on tap. A keeper! read more

I went to this bar last night with some friends because my favorite DJ was spinning..I had ordered 3 vodka and cranberry, and was charged for 3 Hennessy. Came here for my first ever LA open mic experience. It was memorial day and so it was suuuuper empty. Like 2 people in the audience empty. But I'm still so glad I did it. The gentleman hosting the open mic was named Dominic and he was such a nice guy (and super talented!). Generally a very accepting, receptive audience. The bar itself has an older feel to it, like the stools are about to break kind of deal, but this might be part of its charm. They have really nice beers on draft. Cali Creamn was my fave. I met up with some friends here for karaoke late on a Monday night, and...wow. Walking in...this was not what I expected when I came through the door. I quickly learned that karaoke would be performed from YouTube video. Double wow. Despite my snobbish opening, an evening at the Lexington was easily one of the most interesting and fun karaoke experiences I had ever had. My group's presence at least doubled the amount of people in attendance, which meant we pretty much held the mic for a good portion of the night. The regular evening crowd was a mix of some of the best and most entertaining performances, including a man who recited from memory and without backing "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General" from The Pirates of Penzance and a duet by the host and bartender of "Rainbow Connection", with both of them during Kermit voices. It was awesome! The bar is actually pretty well stocked, and features a small but diverse selection of tall boy cans and other beverages. And happily, the bar also serves selections from the Bud Light Limerita series, which also happen to be one of my favorite things. And as my boyfriend just described the bar tab, it was "mega cheap." I found easy parking, but I also was directly next to a homeless encampment, so I'm going to guess that finding a spot close by is not that difficult. My friends and I are already planning another outing here. The staff and crowd were great, and every person received a well-deserved and enthusiastic round of applause with every ascent to and descent from the stage. read more

Saw a very funny comedian do a set about the poor quality of airline food and poke fun at online dating. I was with my sweet grandmother who's never even owned a computer and has been on the no fly list since the fifties (my grandfather got the whole family on there for assaulting a flight attendant) and even she thought this guy (I think his name was skinny bill) was hilarious. The other comics we saw (both gentlemen of color) were not for our taste. They offer an assortment of beers and let you bring in you're own chipolte! read more

THIS PLACE IS RAD. The proprietor is one of the coolest dudes ever and patrons are consistently delightful. Don't be fooled lol... The recent new owners kept the original name The Lexington. But, it is not the original authentic cool dive bar The Lexington anymore. It sucks there now. The Lexington was the last really good dive bar in DTLA. The new owners ended that. What a bummer! I will never go there again or recommend anybody to go. Here's why; I've been a regular at The Lexington for several years. It was a kick ass dive bar when the original previous owner Tim was there running the place. It was always so much fun! Tim, his bartenders, his security were all so cool and down to earth. It was like being family there. But, that's all over now... unfortunately. Now it's to poppy, yet it has very cold vibes from the new people that are around there working...those people were acting weird watching every little thing, they were giving off some odd negative vibes. They did not seem comfortable in that area. Also, my friends bands that always did music gigs at the Lex when Tim was the owner, don't ever want to book new shows there anymore with this new funky change. Anyhow, sadly my experience there with it under the new ownership really blowed. So, I stick with... I won't be going to hangout there anymore and I definitely would never even recommend anyone to go there. It's a horrible bar now. Definitely not my cup of tea. read more

Saw a really interesting set of bands/musicians here- all very unique stuff at a low-key vibe location. Turns out the bartender was the owner and a very cool person! Interested in conversation with everyone there, super fast service, affordable pitchers of good beer. When some random loser vomited and passed out in the middle of the floor, it was cleaned up before anyone could even react. M/Cs can easily park between/in front of cars right in front of the bar; easy to monitor bikes and within view of the door person. Could probably park on the sidewalk too. Will be back! read more
