Gotta start with the fresh flour tortillas and 3-type salsa! The honey butter is so good! My fav app is the ceviche trio with plantain chips, yumz! I usually enjoy sitting outside w the beach view, but the bar is also a great spot to watch a game. The cocktails are delish. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The music and atmosphere is a vibe. Street parking is available, but be sure to check the signs. I'd def come back!

This place was so good. I was hesitant, because I figured it could be touristy given the location but to me it felt like very authentic dishes. First off they serve you fresh tortillas with salsa and honey butter and they are SO GOOD AND SO FRESH. I got the crispy taco y enchilada with chicken, and it hit the spot. Definitely good Mexican. The ambiance inside is a vibe - almost felt clubby. Our server was amazing and such high energy.

Palmilla in Hermosa Beach is one of our go-to spots and my mother-in-law's favorite restaurant on the Hermosa Beach Pier. She's been coming here for years, and we end up visiting multiple times a year because it's always such a solid choice. We love sitting outside, people watching, and enjoying the pier atmosphere. The drinks are amazing, and we are definitely fans of the Big Zaddies. The handmade tortillas with butter and salsas are always a must, the enchiladas are so good, and the ceviche tastes fresh every time. Palmilla is always a win in our book. We'll definitely keep coming back and introducing more people to this amazing spot.

Palmilla Cocina is definitely up there as one of the best Mexican restaurants I've dined at (says a lot as from I'm LA) especially just upon stumbling. From the hand shaken fresh margaritas, I got the pineapple Serrano cilantro, to the complimentary fresh tortilla with honey butter and salsas, + the ocean breeze from the Pier, it's hard to complain. To share my table of 2 ordered the: * La asada con salsa (cooked medium) - comes with a side - we chose the corn - and rice and beans 10/10. I could drink the chimichurri sauce it came with and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection * mole blanco enchiladas - chicken Machacha, queso, chipotle pepitas, arroz de tomatillo and frijoles Nevro . 9.5/10 and I fear I will never want to have mole any other way. I also got a complimentary dessert of choice for my birthday. I opted for the fried ice cream (horchata flavored) which was divine and the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. The ambiance is lively, I recommend to sit outdoors as several other restaurants have live music and great to people watch. Huge compliments to the chef and to our incredible waiter, Peter, who was attentive and provided the best recommendations. Would definitely come back to explore more of the menu.

A very pleasant surprise. We went on a Saturday at noon with no reservation. We had planned to go next door but they were full. Palmilla gladly took us. Our bartender Ray was fantastic - one of the best ever. The food was delicious, with not one thing even slightly off. For the LA area, prices were very reasonable and portions are big and filling. They definitely earned some repeat business. Well done.

I stopped for food and drinks twice in 2 days, so they're doing something right! Drinks were fantastic-- tons to choose from, but I tried a good handful of the margs. I sat at the bar and ordered food, and they bring out fresh made tortillas with butter and 2 types of salsa (I forget what they called it) which were all amazing. Guac was great, as was she shrimp cocktail. It gets very busy in there so my recommendation (aside from a reservation) is to get your hands on the menu and be ready to order! It's very loud in there, but fun and vibrant. Clean restrooms, and purse hooks under the bar.

Located right on the strand in Hermosa Beach. You can make a reservation on open table! The tacos are pretty good! The breakfast items are a bit more meh, I recommend sticking with the lunch stuffs. Service was good, they allow dogs on the patio. However, if you choose to sit outside, there are a lot of bugs flying around. They do give you the spinning machine but the bugs still come. The sweet butter with the tortilla is a bit interesting but try it! lol

I made a reservation for a party of 6 about a month in advance for a Friday at 11am. I don't think the reservation was necessary since they open at 11am and we were the first ones there anyway. We were seated on their outside patio out front. Our waiter was very friendly and patient with our party, I really appreciated his positive attitude. The fresh housemade tortilla were very good. If I wasn't in front of my in-laws, I would've asked for more and devoured it without hesitation. We shared an appetizer of Nachos with chimichurri filet and it was plenty to share between 6 people. I enjoyed my entree that I ordered, the crispy taco y enchilada. There was a generous amount of fresh cheese on the taco and the meat in both were perfectly seasoned. My watermelon cilantro margarita was good, but the chunks of watermelon kept getting stuck in the paper straw. I think next time, I'd get something without muddled fruit. Great service and a wonderful ambiance since it's right next to the beach. I would love to come back again to try other items. We found parking in a paid metered lot a couple minutes down the same street. Bathrooms are available inside the restaurant towards the back.

Affordable and delicious Mexican restaurant by the Strand! If you are by the Hermosa Beach Pier and want a nice sit down restaurant that isn't too expensive and good, this is the place to go. We went at about 7pm on a Sunday night without reservations and we waited about 30 minutes for a table. The service was fairly fast after we ordered, but I feel as if the waiters were checking in on us almost too much. I love how attentive the waiters were, but they checked in with us about 8 times LOL. Crispy Taco y Enchilada - I loved the flavor of the rib meat inside the crispy taco which had so much cheese and was pretty big. This was the best item I had at the restaurant. The enchilada was nothing special, but still great. Huge portion for about $23 on the Strand! Esperanza Burrito Especial - A pretty standard burrito. I got the steak, but you also have the option of chicken. There were beans, cheese, guac, and meat inside and it came with pico de gallo, sour cream, and rice. Satisfying dish, but there wasn't anything that stood out to me. I would get it again if I were craving a burrito and near the pier. Overall, the portions here were huge and will definitely leave you feeling satisfied. A great spot near the pier, would come back again!

Ate here with a business group. Seated quickly and our waitress, Kayla, was absolutely awesome. I had a Palmilla Margarita and it was spot on. For the main meal I ordered a taquera filet street tacos. Meat was super tender and favorable. Inside and outside seating. Everyone stated their meal was delicious.

Huge Mango Margarita for everyone to share

I went on an overcast day which was a bummer since we sat at an outdoor table that overlooked the Pier. There were many items to choose from on their menu and it was hard to choose! Looking around at other tables, their portions seemed on the larger side so I tried to order with that in mind. I love a good fish taco & was excited to try theirs. It was good. Solid flavor, fish was good quality. I wished there was a bit more tang to it, maybe pico de gallo was lacking in flavor?! But I felt like there was something missing. Tacos were big! Their margaritas were good. Not very strong but solid. The table next to us ordered a huge mango margarita served in a humongous glass for the 5 of them to share. Looked really good & would definitely order that if I came with a big group or date night with a car service to ride home in!!! Hahaha! I would definitely go here again if I'm down in the Hermosa Beach area. There's a big public parking structure about 1 1/2 blocks away so it's very convenient & easily accessible.

Came for our friends birthday. Can't beat the location. Best margarita and lobster tacos! Thanks Mark for taking great care of us :)

palmilla has two locations, in hermosa and also in newport beach. also sister restaurants to esperanza in MB. palmilla in Hb is located in the pier plaza right next to tower 12. made rez via opentable. pet friendly patio. service was okay. food was okay. imo, the food needed a but more seasoning..i should have ordered from their brunch menu lol ordered: tacos de pollo asado cabo surf and turf enchiladas we also did get tortillas with three dipping sauces, which are complimentary. the inside of the restaurant was soo festive!! so points for that! parking: metered lot behind the restaurant or metered street parking. the parking garage is currently closed.

Is there a corkage fee to bring in your own wine?

I think there is - usually about $25/bottle probably 2 bottles minimum.

What kind of site doesn't have menu prices, nor update them?

A lot of restaurants I notice don't put prices online, but it's always the expensive ones. Their tacos appetizers are pretty affordable but the other meals can be pricey.

Quiet for a Saturday night inside sit down at 8pm, but still plenty of to-go orders, and I'll guess they were busier earlier for dinner. Lucky for us! We were greeted warmly and offered a cute table with a view out to PCH. The decor is cozy and comfortable with pretty flower murals along the walls and framing doorways. Staff was very attentive and friendly and my eyes were MUCH bigger than my tummy! I went with the grilled white fish, rice and beans plate, but added a beef tamale from the appetizer menu. Hubs selected a beef quesadilla as his main. They have a good selection of beers and beverages, but when I saw a margarita on the menu I was curious and asked if they really had margaritas. 'Yes. Would you like one'? No need to ask me twice! Unfortunately, I think, to accommodate their beer & wine license, the marg was made with some sort of white wine and maaaaybe margarita mix from LaPaz. I didn't get a hint of tequila at all. Oh well, cerveza next time! Hubs' quesadilla was large and the steak juicy, he was very happy. My grilled fish was delicious and the tamale was perfecto! Lots of generous, well seasoned beef, not too thick of a mesa. We also liked the way they served "chips" and fresh salsa. The whole, fried corn tortilla in the basket! No way someone can complain 'these chips were all crumbs!' when served this way. Delicious! We would cheerfully return to Rosa's again and hope this great family owned & operated, since 1973, business gets lots of love from local - and visiting! - patrons. Cheers! "CC"
