I stayed at The Line for 1 night this past weekend with a friend, and we had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful (parts of it are within a 100+ old building which formerly served as a church, while the rooms are within a very modern extension to the back of the historic building). Every single person we spoke to at the hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful (valet, front desk, staff in the restaurant). The room was huge and comfortable and well-decorated (with an equally large bathroom). The hotel is in Adams Morgan, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in DC. However, first time visitors to DC should know that Adams Morgan probably isn't the best neighborhood for tourists in DC trying to hit all of the city's attraction highlights. It's a little further out from downtown and most of the sites and a 20-minute walk to the nearest metro stations (DuPont Circle or U Street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozo). For us, being a little outside of the main tourist areas was perfect. Adams Morgan is gorgeous, and we enjoyed the neighborhood (dinner, a movie, bakeries, a bookshop, and a park). I noticed some of the reviews mentioned the price of the hotel, but I have always found it in line with prices of similar hotels (rooms in the $200-range per night). (FYI Valet is $60 per day, but that's also pretty standard now.) Overall, it was a very nice stay, made all the better by their very friendly staff.

I love how community-oriented The LINE is! It's my neighborhood go-to for fun events like free rooftop Sunday yoga, Emily Henry book release parties, and wellness experiences with DC brands. They also host vintage markets with local influencers. The curb appeal draws people in, the high-ceilinged lounge attracts people to stay, and the rooftop view entices people to connect.

Over the last 2.5 years I've been to The Line / No Goodbyes at least a dozen times for coffee, breakfast and dinner, evening drinks, dates, time with friends, and lots of studying and work, and it's usually great! Until today I've never had a complaint about the service, food, or drinks. A month ago it was too hot, but hey, HVAC stuff happens. But I just want to voice my opinion to management about 3 things that rubbed me the wrong way today. 1. The barista flatly said "no" with no explanation when I asked the barista/s if I could get just a tiny shot of drip coffee, like a dram /pony size shot after finishing 2/3 of my coffee, it was cold. I even stated I didn't want much because I couldn't take much more caffeine. She offered to add hot water... but my coffee was already diluted with creamer. It was after 2pm and I could tell they hard started shutting things down, but their carafe clearly wasn't empty , because they were in the process of exchanging them. I thought that was pretty stingy and illogically strict, especially since I had ordered 2 pastries and a coffee. 2. I was also turned off when one of the waiters made a gentleman leave / stop eating his small sushi bento, which he was almost finished eating and had been noshing on less than 10 minutes. It was clear he was staying at the hotel. I completely understand not wanting to set a precedent of people eating outside food willy-nilly, but most adults, especially ones who frequent The Line, have sufficient manners to understand that discreetly eating a little snack is not the same thing as bringing a picnic basket or a clamshell from the Whole Foods hot bar. A small maki roll isn't going to turn the "whole continent communist." The slippery slope argument just doesn't seem to fit this environment. I think the most guest-oriented response would be to casually mention that there is a no-outside food policy, and ask him if he could please finish it quickly. 3. Last, but not least - the absolutely decadent chocolate chip muffin disintegrates completely into a pile of chunks and crumbs after you bite into it. Please warn guests and at least recommend a fork and larger plate. After attempting bites 2-3 the muffin crumbs were rolling off the plate and getting all over the table and floor. [The accompanying photo is post-clean up] Altogether too much clean up and having to ask for silverware and a large plate to eat the remaining 3/4 of the muffin. Thanks for your attention, management!

Great hotel dead smack in the middle of a neighborhood. Nice lobby and bar are as well. The room was nice and clean with a stacked mini bar. The hotel is walking distance to shops and restaurants. All the staff were cordial and helpful. The Malbec, hot honey wings & strawberry sorbet from the bar area were delicious. Overall a good experience at this hotel

This place is located in the heart of DC and it's hard to get to by taxi plus there are no good parking spots nearby. This particular review is only for the restaurant and not the hotel. The food at the restaurant was decent and the service was OK. This was at the rooftop area with a good view of DC.

I pleasantly surprised with The Line DC. I called to ask about check-in and was greeted by Myra. She informed me of my Chase luxury status then told me about all the perks that come with it. Even if I hadn't been chase luxury, the rooms were beautiful, the location was ideal and close to shops and the metro. The hotel bar and breakfast was delicious. I'm definitely putting it in my list of hotels to stay in in the city. It has a lot of character, the gym was very nice as well. Many things a traveler would enjoy

We just stayed at The Line DC again this week and had another great experience. This time, we were upgraded to a Monument room, which came with a much better view -- definitely a nice touch. Derrick, once again, was an absolute standout. We honestly feel lucky to have been there during one of his shifts. He's knowledgeable, thoughtful, and genuinely kind -- the kind of person who makes a stay feel extra special. He's truly a noteworthy part of the hotel team, and we love seeing him when we're there. Everything else was consistent with our past visit: the rooms are bright and comfortable, the location in Adams Morgan is full of charm, and it's a great spot if you're traveling with dogs. Valet is still quick, and while some service areas could be sharper, the overall experience is solid -- and with people like Derrick on staff, it makes you want to come back. Still one of our favorite pet-friendly hotels in DC.

Of course my friend is a member and if I'm lucky, someday I will be too. It started off as I walked up the sidewalk and approached the club, the doorman was standing on the sidewalk. As I got closer, the doorman greeted me by name! I was taken a back for a minute wondering how could he possibly know my name! I was escorted in and asked to wait in the main reception while they went to get my friend. I went into what they refer to as the "Correspondence Lounge" which is sort of a small library with some incredibly old literary works. They have very strict rules and one of surprise is no use of cell phones... period. How refreshing! You can go into the Correspondence Lounge if you need to use your phone but otherwise you cannot use while in the dining room or other public areas. So make sure you "check-in" on Yelp when you are outside. Naturally they have a dress code, but really, if you have to ask what the dress code is, you probably aren't going to this place. Another rule I was surprised is they try to keep business limited so you cannot bring out a bunch of papers, laptop, etc... The only papers you can hold would have to be a newspaper or a book. Once seated, the service is impeccable. Extremely polite and not overbearing. They knew when we were engrossed in conversation and didn't interrupt. I had the lump crab cake for dinner and it was without a doubt the BEST! I lived in Virginia for five years and went to college at George Washington so I'm quite familiar with East Coast seafood and I can honestly say the lump crab at the Metropolitan Club is the BEST! I could go on about this place but simply put, if you have the opportunity to go, don't pass that opportunity up for what will end up being one of the greatest dining experiences of your life.
