I stayed at The Line for 1 night this past weekend with a friend, and we had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful (parts of it are within a 100+ old building which formerly served as a church, while the rooms are within a very modern extension to the back of the historic building). Every single person we spoke to at the hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful (valet, front desk, staff in the restaurant). The room was huge and comfortable and well-decorated (with an equally large bathroom). The hotel is in Adams Morgan, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in DC. However, first time visitors to DC should know that Adams Morgan probably isn't the best neighborhood for tourists in DC trying to hit all of the city's attraction highlights. It's a little further out from downtown and most of the sites and a 20-minute walk to the nearest metro stations (DuPont Circle or U Street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozo). For us, being a little outside of the main tourist areas was perfect. Adams Morgan is gorgeous, and we enjoyed the neighborhood (dinner, a movie, bakeries, a bookshop, and a park). I noticed some of the reviews mentioned the price of the hotel, but I have always found it in line with prices of similar hotels (rooms in the $200-range per night). (FYI Valet is $60 per day, but that's also pretty standard now.) Overall, it was a very nice stay, made all the better by their very friendly staff.

I love how community-oriented The LINE is! It's my neighborhood go-to for fun events like free rooftop Sunday yoga, Emily Henry book release parties, and wellness experiences with DC brands. They also host vintage markets with local influencers. The curb appeal draws people in, the high-ceilinged lounge attracts people to stay, and the rooftop view entices people to connect.

Over the last 2.5 years I've been to The Line / No Goodbyes at least a dozen times for coffee, breakfast and dinner, evening drinks, dates, time with friends, and lots of studying and work, and it's usually great! Until today I've never had a complaint about the service, food, or drinks. A month ago it was too hot, but hey, HVAC stuff happens. But I just want to voice my opinion to management about 3 things that rubbed me the wrong way today. 1. The barista flatly said "no" with no explanation when I asked the barista/s if I could get just a tiny shot of drip coffee, like a dram /pony size shot after finishing 2/3 of my coffee, it was cold. I even stated I didn't want much because I couldn't take much more caffeine. She offered to add hot water... but my coffee was already diluted with creamer. It was after 2pm and I could tell they hard started shutting things down, but their carafe clearly wasn't empty , because they were in the process of exchanging them. I thought that was pretty stingy and illogically strict, especially since I had ordered 2 pastries and a coffee. 2. I was also turned off when one of the waiters made a gentleman leave / stop eating his small sushi bento, which he was almost finished eating and had been noshing on less than 10 minutes. It was clear he was staying at the hotel. I completely understand not wanting to set a precedent of people eating outside food willy-nilly, but most adults, especially ones who frequent The Line, have sufficient manners to understand that discreetly eating a little snack is not the same thing as bringing a picnic basket or a clamshell from the Whole Foods hot bar. A small maki roll isn't going to turn the "whole continent communist." The slippery slope argument just doesn't seem to fit this environment. I think the most guest-oriented response would be to casually mention that there is a no-outside food policy, and ask him if he could please finish it quickly. 3. Last, but not least - the absolutely decadent chocolate chip muffin disintegrates completely into a pile of chunks and crumbs after you bite into it. Please warn guests and at least recommend a fork and larger plate. After attempting bites 2-3 the muffin crumbs were rolling off the plate and getting all over the table and floor. [The accompanying photo is post-clean up] Altogether too much clean up and having to ask for silverware and a large plate to eat the remaining 3/4 of the muffin. Thanks for your attention, management!

Great hotel dead smack in the middle of a neighborhood. Nice lobby and bar are as well. The room was nice and clean with a stacked mini bar. The hotel is walking distance to shops and restaurants. All the staff were cordial and helpful. The Malbec, hot honey wings & strawberry sorbet from the bar area were delicious. Overall a good experience at this hotel

This place is located in the heart of DC and it's hard to get to by taxi plus there are no good parking spots nearby. This particular review is only for the restaurant and not the hotel. The food at the restaurant was decent and the service was OK. This was at the rooftop area with a good view of DC.

I pleasantly surprised with The Line DC. I called to ask about check-in and was greeted by Myra. She informed me of my Chase luxury status then told me about all the perks that come with it. Even if I hadn't been chase luxury, the rooms were beautiful, the location was ideal and close to shops and the metro. The hotel bar and breakfast was delicious. I'm definitely putting it in my list of hotels to stay in in the city. It has a lot of character, the gym was very nice as well. Many things a traveler would enjoy

We just stayed at The Line DC again this week and had another great experience. This time, we were upgraded to a Monument room, which came with a much better view -- definitely a nice touch. Derrick, once again, was an absolute standout. We honestly feel lucky to have been there during one of his shifts. He's knowledgeable, thoughtful, and genuinely kind -- the kind of person who makes a stay feel extra special. He's truly a noteworthy part of the hotel team, and we love seeing him when we're there. Everything else was consistent with our past visit: the rooms are bright and comfortable, the location in Adams Morgan is full of charm, and it's a great spot if you're traveling with dogs. Valet is still quick, and while some service areas could be sharper, the overall experience is solid -- and with people like Derrick on staff, it makes you want to come back. Still one of our favorite pet-friendly hotels in DC.

One thing that always stays the same is constant change. DC has a ton of new places that have opened recently, so we left it to friends who live in town to pick places for us to go. This was one of them and we ended up having a great time. The LINE used to be an old bank, and still has high vaulted ceilings and vintage lighting. In recent times they took this old building, added a modern hotel, and made the floor into a fun cocktail bar and lounge. The steps going in made you feel you're going into a museum, and even with the huge space it still felt oddly cozy and warm. On either of the far sides was a bar, each with a selection of handmade cocktails and other drinks. The bartenders were immediately super friendly and when I asked one about beer, he became super friendly and told me about their selections. Thank you Alex for buying a couple of the beers that night, really made for a great memory! I had a few different local DC beers, each served in an appropriate clean glass which is always the mark of a great place. Friends ordered a variety of cocktails and mixed drink; all presented beautifully. The main floor consisted of low sofas and chairs around different tables, and thankfully everything was able to be moved around so the staff quickly accommodated our large party. If you're in DC and looking for a new experience with delicious drinks, this is a must-visit spot.

We were able to book a room here at a special rate so we could attend an event. I have been trying to check this place out for a while so I'm glad we had a reason to stay. We pulled up on Euclid and found out the valet parking/entrance to the hotel is around the corner on Champlain. Valet parking is $50/night but you get in/out privileges. The lobby was pretty small but had some nice Christmas decorations. Check in was fairly quick and we got a room on the second floor. The room itself was pretty big compared to most DC hotels i've been to. The room felt pretty homey and had some nice wood floors. The bed was nice, kind of noisy but no big deal. The bathroom was pretty nice as well, the shower's water pressure was pretty intense sort of like a fireman's water hose. We didn't really get a view but the windows in the room were enormous. We only got to stay one night but I would love to come back because I wanted to try their restaurant (No Goodbyes) and they also had a pop up bar as well that we missed too. Overall, it was a solid stay. The hotel felt a little small but the size of the room made up for it and its in walking distance from many other restaurants.

That jetted tub was supposed to earn its keep. The room: genuinely beautiful. The technology: aggressively dated. The vibe: a 90s time capsule, complete with missing doorknobs. There was effort here, but it felt like the hotel was holding its breath, afraid any real investment might trigger the next recession. What they got right: The bellhops were fantastic. Warm, personable, fun. Truly the highlight. Most staff we interacted with were polite and willing to help, which made the gaps elsewhere even more confusing. What they got wrong (beyond the dated room and tech): For a hotel that loudly advertises luxury service, the customer experience fell flat. Outside of the arrival bowl of fruit, nothing felt elevated. Night two, we ordered pizza and planned a cozy Home Alone movie night. The technology made streaming impossible. Fine, cable it is. We called the concierge and asked for two plates. Just two. The answer was a flat no. We were told to walk down to the lobby restaurant and see if they might have plates "to spare." I'm sorry, what? The next morning, room service arrived... with someone else's order. It was corrected, but for a luxury hotel, that kind of miss is surprising. Housekeeping came through, but only halfway. The coffee and minibar were never restocked. In a suite. At a luxury hotel. This is table stakes. At 9:30 PM we stopped by the lobby circle bar. It was immediately clear the bartenders did not want to be there. I get it, service work is hard. Still, opening our interaction by warning us about last call at 11 set a strange tone. By 10:00, one bartender disappeared for 45 minutes. No refills. No check-in. No bill. Breaks are important. Coverage is also important, especially when you're selling a premium experience. Beyond the bellhops, much of the staff felt irritated to be present. Front desk to concierge, the energy was less "historic luxury hotel" and more "counting down the minutes." The hotel was also clearly prioritizing weekend tea and brunch revenue, to the point that the historic lobby was clogged with extra tables and largely unusable for actual hotel guests. Bottom line: this was not a luxury experience, and I would not recommend it. I'm only posting this publicly because I reached out directly to hotel management and never received a response. At that point, a review feels necessary.
