You wouldn't equate Downey to a good gastronomical experience so we have it a try. LKSD looked promising so we stopped in for dinner. Our server was great, very attentive to us and knew the menu and products well. I ordered the 10 oz Filet with a side of asparagus. The meat was cooked medium and was very tender. Worst experience EVER!! I don't often comment on Yelp, but I felt the need to voice my opinion today! To start, the hostess was incredibly rude, uninviting, didn't even smile. At that point, I already thought about leaving, but went inside anyhow (bad decision!). We were seated by the hostess at a table and then promptly told to get up and sit at a different table, just in case a bigger party came in. Then why seat us? Then I asked for a booth and they seem irritated. We finally sat down and it took a very long time to get any kind of service. The waiter was so unprofessional! When I asked him for the difference between two items on the menu, he pointed to the menu and asked me to read it. I'm sorry?? What??? After ordering, it took forever to get our food! Our food came at different times, which is so annoying when you're out for a family dinner to have people at the table eating at different times. But the worst of all, where is when we asked for a refill of lemonade for my daughter and we were charged for a second lemonade. Similar to the comments below, they hustle you for every single thing. I noticed that he entered the lemonade into his ordering system. When he brought us the check, we asked him about the extra charge for the lemonade and he started arguing with us and said it was their policy (which they didn't share) and he was so unprofessional and rude. I told him that I'm principle it was just ridiculous to charge for a lemonade refill. We paid and as he walked away, I commented to my husband and said "Wow, that's quite a hustle!" Again, I was talking to my husband. The waiter turned around and walked back towards me and said "did you say something about me?" and started going at me, to start arguing with me. Despite numerous check-ins, it wasn't until 8:35 that our hostess told us, "We just realized your table has been there for three hours. They're just paying now." We weren't seated until 8:45. In that forty-five minute wait, we weren't offered anything. A drink. Water. For a "steakhouse" like this place claims to be, that's startling poor customer service. But of course, this place fancies itself a club more than a fine dining establishment, despite charging you like the latter. The two cocktails we ordered were pretty good, the two mixer drinks were weak. The "fire burger" sauce was tasty but for a place that charges $25 for a burger without fries, they should ask you how you want the thing cooked. Instead they just bring the burger out well, probably because instead of a single large patty, it's two thinner ones of lesser quality meat. We had front row seats to security guards trying to escort a guy who may or may not have had a tattoo of the ralph polo logo, okay he did. I mean it's hard to say but it could have gone pretty bad, we had a bottle on our table that could have been picked up and smashed on our faces but luckily that did not happen. We ordered sushi, honey walnut shrimp, these are four jumbo shrimp, drunken mussels, fries, and Brussel sprouts. The fries came with cheese so we asked if they could put that on the side. They brought us a few cold sliced pieces of cheese on the side, i thought it would have been melted so the others in my party could dip their fries but that's not how it came. The maguro roll was pretty damn delicious. It went well with the rainbow ceviche. We should have stopped there. The combination of hot and cold and fried foods was not a good one. Lesson learned. This is a good casual place for dinner with friends. Everything is shareable if you want to try multiple dishes and it was not loud where we were seated so it was easy to chat during the meal. Wow! We came to LKSD for my boyfriends and i second year anniversary and they absolutely made us feel so incredibly special we came in as a walk-in, and they were able to sit us down at a booth. Immediately the place was incredibly beautiful and clean for it to be such a small location throughout the night. Our server was attentive and super accommodating, and the food was actually incredible. I ordered a filet mignon with shrimp and it was the perfect portion for me. Personally, I ate the entire thing and didn't feel disgustingly, greasy or full like the way other steaks make me feel. My boyfriend ordered some type of seafood pasta, which was also incredibly delicious. On June 27th 9pm my fiancé Jorge made reservations for our son Elvis bday. Everything was going great until my son ate the Boner burger, after eating half of it he started feeling sick. He took couple trips to the bathroom until he eventually said we needed to leave. We ended up telling our server we had to go because he wasn't feeling well. My son spent week's feeling unwell. He contracted a virus from that burger that until this day he is being treated for. Per our doctors that burger was cross contaminated and the raw meat is what got him sick. I spent over $500 dollars that night and my experience was not what we expected from a high quality restaurant. The old fashioned came out and was good but the glass was literally about a shot, so that didn't make me happy. The lemonades came so late, we were about done when they finally got out. Would say there is room to get better here. Most frustrating and irritating restaurant ever to deal with, online it says open till 1 AM - I had been CALLING since 9 PM asking if that was correct, their phone is constantly off and goes straight to voicemail - on the voicemail it says "if we missed your call please text this number" and I had sent 4 texts over a span of 2 hours to the number - so clearly their iPhone they use for handling the phone is just on do not disturb, and NOBODY responds to the texts, still no answer. I drove 40 minutes to get here, arrived at 11:45 and then they tell me when I arrive that the restaurant closed early because "it's dead tonight". MOST FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE EVER AND WASTE OF TIME! If it's "dead" tonight then why has nobody answered the phone or responded to the text messages since 9 PM?? I just wasted 40 minutes driving out here and now 40 minutes to go straight back home. The Colossal burger was extremely filling, loved the elote ribs and the sweet potato fries too (I had them with a side of caramel sauce, thank me later)!
