Outstanding! Hidden Gem! After a long, late, and tiring afternoon we needed to grab a bite we headed to HanLao, but alas it is closed. So J. McGraughs was on the way home, we sat on the patio in the sun which was perfect, while the bartender/waitress brought us menus and drinks. The menu is quite varied with daily specials. Dinners and soups. I ordered the roast beef with auj and my. Hubs ordered the grilled spicy chicken both came with a choice of tots, cottage cheese, or house made chips? We both ordered the chips and I ask for a side of their "house" made ranch. The sandwich's were generous and perfectly cooked, the ranch was so so so yummy! But the house made fries OMG' to die for! Even cold out of the fridge later! Yum! So go eat! Sit on the patio enjoy!

I stayed at a local hotel nearby and when I checked in I asked for a recommendation for somewhere to go for dinner. I was given a map of the Clayton area and on the map was nearly 30 different options all with a 2 mile walking radius. Me being me I looked up what stood out and went straight to Yelp. J. McGraughs has great reviews, looked reasonably priced and looked like a local hangout for the area. The atmosphere is very sports bar like with posters, college pennants and old newspaper clippings plastered on the walls of the bathroom. We had a couple appetizers, I got a bison burger which was 10/10, and my friend got a pizza. Anything you could be hungry for, this place has it. Awesome place and would definitely go back and hangout here all the time if I lived in the area.

Arrived around 7:30 on a Friday night and the next available reservation wasn't until 10:30/10:45. There are about 5-6 dart stations throughout the restaurant that accommodate different group sizes. The seating was open so after roaming a bit cozied into a booth behind the bar where a tv was near by to watch the basketball game. From entrance to exit, everyone was friendly and warm. From my vantage point I observed all of the employees working together to make sure drinks were served quickly, food orders came out hot and guests' needs were met. The cocktail and mocktail was delicious, the lobster elote with seasoned tortillas was very flavorful and entrees did not disappoint. Validation tickets for parking in the parking garage next door is a plus! I'll be going back, have to try the darts!

I don't play darts so I have zero skill here, but, with the plethora of games, there is fun to be found. I was definitely throwing from the "Rookie" line, but it didn't matter, we still had a good time! It was a little cramped but there were quite a few of us in there so understandable. With this private booth, we had a selection of appetizers, a dessert tower, and unlimited booze. Of the appetizers, the buffalo chicken sliders were my favorite and the desserts (cannoli, cream puffs, double-chocolate cookies to name a few) were surprisingly good! The bar staff working that evening were pleasant and accommodating, ensuring we all had a drink in one hand and a plate of food within arms' reach. All-in-all, I had a fun time at Flight Club St. Louis, I'd come back for a few rounds of darts and drinks!

The staff was friendly and helpful but also a bit pushy as we were sifting through menu before ordering. The main issue was being served "nice cocktails" in cheap plastic cups. We understand no glassware is allowed outside; however, it was odd being served a $14 drink in a college plastic cup (knowing there are various alternative nicer options for non-glass style cocktail drinkware). I would recommend sitting inside if you are ordering cocktails. I'd also consider Brennan's in Central West End if you stumble upon this review--similar priced cocktails that are far better with a more luxurious vibe.

British Bar INSIDE a "British designed hotel", so I had my hopes probably heightened more that it should have with my previous British bar results. I went in thinking British craziness and got a "Edgar Allen Poe" feel... But I'm going to say this was NOT what I was expecting. First and foremost, your eyes are going to need adjusting. Plain and simple, it felt more like a dark ... room? (Part of the problem I think is that as it was already June, you can forget using the fireplace to lighten the room up) so it felt.. "Small", and I"m going to feel weird saying this... "Romantic Horrorfest". Wait, before you go "wha??", this isnt' necessarily a bad thing. The Taxidermy , the photos on the wall. the fireplace. the VERY (and I mean VERY) dim lighting... The limited seating on the main floor, the one door in and out it had a "wooden cabin feel".. Yes, if you had a wonderful romantic film and it was suddenly invaded by some monster villain... This where it would take place and it would be perfect. (See I can find positive things to say about things i wasn't looking for) As for the service, apparently (going back to the Romantic filmfest), I was struggling to get any attention for the bartendress, cause I guess I was solo'ing by myself, and because of how I wasn't able to get the bartendress attention... I kinda felt like an unwanted customer in a place more for couples or friends getting together which had me leaving shortly thereafter, so no real food score (although I will say, much like Oh London ,the menu wasn't really much to work through...), Anyway, no TV's, no world cup game on the air.. just like I said a vibe of a cabin in a "romantic movie, where the monsters lurk". And Apologies for some of the iffy pictures, it just didn't feel right using a flash on the camera in such a secluded locale) and like I said, it wasnt' what I was expecting (rowdy British fans watching the local club or something), but there's something about it that even i have to admit, would make this location a nice "date night" or "out with friends' location, more so than just a single person looking for a nightcap. (And Maybe there really is a monster hiding in the fireplace, to keep the "Horror" feel going?? :)
