Their Taco Tuesday special is legit. That's all I can really speak for. Sometimes when you and your roomateboyfriend work in the service industry you don't eat dinner at 10pm. We've been eyeing the taco Tuesday special at The Local for a while and finally tried it out last week after a long day. They have several types of tacos for $2 each. We ordered a couple of the chicken each. They were larger than expected and really delicious. The vibe in there was awesome, they already had someone DJing, but it wasn't overpowering for people having a late dinner. The bartender was awesome and very friendly. I think his name was Will but theres a 75% chance I completely made that up. They are always advertising really good looking specials so we will definitely be back! read more

I work in Hearst Tower, so I watched The Local transform from Phil's over the last few months. It's been awesome to see that exterior painting progress, it really makes The Local look like a place you'd want to stop by for a beer. There are daily specials for both food a drinks, so there's always a way to save a few bucks here. I went on Wednesday which happened to be $2 off burgers and $3.50 local drafts. They had a pretty good draft selection, I think about 8 locals and 5 or 6 of the regular domestics. Food wise, I went with the Dirty Jersey burger, which I would definitely recommend. Their burgers are a great size so you don't need to worry about leaving hungry. The sweet hot BBQ sauce on the DJ was great... it really set it off with the peppers & onions. My favorite part about meals is usually the side, and in this case, they have plenty of choices (with no up-charge!!!!!). Regular fries, waffle fries, tots, sweet potato fries ... they have a few others I can't even remember. As far as 'bar food' goes, I would definitely not hesitate to come here for some burgers and brews again with some friends! read more

Love this place! My friend brought us here on Sunday during halftime of Panthers/Seahawks, unfortunately where we were prior to this was not a good experience. But The Local totally made up for it! It's a cute little bar, kind of like a hole in the wall bar but so cozy and welcoming. Compared to other places we had stopped at, we got a table right away, right in front of a tv so we could watch the game. There was a great mix of people inside, all different ages which made the experience a lot of fun! Our waitress came up to us right away and asked for our drink orders. They came out fast and we ordered our food right away as well. Again, service was super fast for a busy Sunday, playoff football game. I got the chicken salad melt, so yummy! They carved out a onion roll and put the chicken salad in it like a bowl, melted some american cheese on top and added thousand island dressing, which I thought was weird at first but after tasting it, was very content! It came with chips, macaroni salad, or pasta salad. I chose chips even though after I kinda wished I went with one of the salads, oh well, next time! My boyfriend got wings with mild sauce on the side. He mentioned he was glad he got it on the side because it was super spicy, but enjoyed them regardless! We also got a side of the buffalo macaroni and cheese, ughhh I love anything buffalo and I cannot go somewhere without trying the different buffalo dishes they have so this obviously was a must. It was soooo good. It was super cheesy and had just the right amount of kick to it, perfectly spiced buffalo flavor! All the employees were super friendly along with all the customers that were there. It made our experience so much more enjoyable. We'll definitely be coming back soon! read more

Walking on the street and just walked into the first restaurant I saw. I was blown away with the friendliness given that I was in uptown. I ordered the Pimento cheese burger and it was out in about 5 minutes. One of the best burgers I have ever had. 11/10 recommend. read more

The atmosphere was refreshing. It feels like a dark, divey joint. And considering much of the surrounding establishments feel more pretentious, this was a welcomed change. Came here as part of a bar crawl. Didn't stay too long and will never return. Customer service is the reason why I will never return. There was about 6 of us in my close group. And we came here earlier than the mass group due to the prior bar being too packed. 4 of us approached the bar at the same time. The bartender served only 2 of us- me and my boyfriend. He then begins to take other people's drink order. I'm thinking he was going to bounce back and serve my friends. Nope. I tell him that he skipped my friends and that they still haven't been helped. There is a pillar at the bar and they were at the corner of the bar so I wasn't sure if it was an honest oversight. He then tells another patron "I'm pretty sure I know how to do my job" and still doesn't serve them 6 people later (I counted). The bar back then came out the back and served my friends. Drinks were terrible. I'm not sure if they were skimping to save money due to the bar crawl occurring or figured people would be drunk already but geez. I got a redbull and vodka. I'm a lightweight my drink tasted watered down. My friend got some type of drink, not sure what it was but when I tasted it, it tasted like sweet and sour mix. My first experience was a call in order. I showed up after 15 minutes and had to wait nearly an hour due to a surprise health inspector visit that took priority. To settle this, they gave me a $8 voucher for a meal at a later date. I used the voucher months later, and I ordered the California Wrap to go. It was supposed to have bacon, but it definitely did not. Food quality itself - nondescript really. This place might be good for one quick drink when other spots are crowded, but it doesn't really have any unique offerings or a welcoming atmosphere. read more

I used to come to this location when I first moved here during lunch hour with my boss at the time, it was called Phil's. The vibe is very similar, friendly staff, dive bar feel and home style cooking. I came on a Tuesday which is their famous Taco Tuesday night and I am glad I did. The chicken and steak tacos were very good. To say they are "traditional mexican" tacos, absolutely not but they were $2 and they were yummy. They also had $3 Modelos which was nice. There were two tacos that were not on on the $2 special, Buffalo Shrimp and Korean BBQ, I plan on returning soon to try them! read more

My boyfriend and i went last night to grab some drinks and food. There's a review on a different Website i believe claiming that this place is racist & after last night we can most definitely agree with that person. My boyfriend and i walked in and the only nice person working there was the security guard that checked our IDs. The two girls at the bar made eye contact but went back to standing there and doing nothing. No one was approaching us so we sat ourselves. (And i hate doing that since , i myself am a server) We sat ourselves. Still no service no one approaching us. Just nasty stares from the two girls behind the bar. After us a WHITE couple walks in and these two girls moods completely changed giving them their drinks, handing them menus. We still gave them a couple for minutes & after that my boyfriend finally got up and asked for menus & how the place worked. Were we suppose to order at the bar? Were we doing something wrong? All she did was hand him the menus and turned right back around to doing NOTHING. Girl what were y'all even doing ? Y'all were just standing there. No wonder why y'all's restaurant was EMPTY, no people. Y'all chasing the people away with your stank attitude. Please consider some training against racism. The parmesan chicken wings are distasteful. When asked if they are wet or dry they assured me that they are both. When received there was salad Parmesan and butter atop of them how ever wasn't enough to flavor the wings. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad that has dry chicken & no silverware. read more

This was my gf and my first bar we checked out when moving to Charlotte. This establishment has a great atmosphere with helpful, friendly staff that was attentive to our dining and drinking needs. We ordered the nachos and big Phil (philly steak sandwich) which was decent for bar food, but by no means mind blowing. With little sample size of other places we have visited to compare to here in Charlotte, I would still definitely recommend visiting it as it delivers a worthwhile, chill experience that would be a perfect hang out spot with friends. read more

I've been coming to the local for a minute now great food, have never had any issues. One day I walk in after a long day at work and decide to have my usual one drink before heading home to call it a night. While I'm trying to enjoy this beer a man comes in clearly past his limit and begins yelling at me because he thinks I stole his beer and seat. I didn't but clearly, this man was "drunk" Meanwhile I'm as calm as can be while the bouncer and manager sit right beside me and see this happening and do absolutely nothing. Now I'm not the one to complain and I can take care of myself. But that's clearly just poor management if you ask me and I work in the hospitality business right down the street. Anyway, people have bad days and I completely understand that. My real issue is I come in the next day and order wings and tots to go. Before I can pay for my order and leave the manager pulls the bartender in the back for a talk. The bartender comes out and tells me the manager said I'm no longer welcome and that I have to go. Not once ever caused any issue and have been a pretty loyal respectful customer all year, so I was confused as to why?. The manager wasn't even man enough to come out and tell me himself. Which speaks volumes about him as a man. So if your the owner and your reading this I hope this issue is resolved and we can figure out a way to keep good-paying customers around. Also, the bouncers need to manage situations a little better moving forward had a been a younger less immature man. Someone could've gotten hurt or worse. read more

Went here for lunch with co workers. I ordered the buffalo chicken grilled cheese with a side salad. I thought the sandwich was amazing and the salad was a very generous size! Prices were perfect for the portions. The staff was super friendly and they gave us a coupon for a 50% off lunch to come back. Look forward to heading back and trying something different. read more
