I was in Hopkinsville looking for something local and it was like God answered my prayers. It was like he sent me to The Local. Well my buddy and I were the outoftowners here. We started out with an appetizer of Guiness BBQ meatballs! Oh yeah, perfect beginning to this meal. The BBQ sauce was smoky but had that hint of Guiness. Get ready because that will be a running theme. For my entree, I asked the waiter for a recommendation and his first choice was the Irish Banger and Mash. The sausage came in a Skillet with mash potatoes but what made this entree worth eating was the onion gravy! The gravy was rich and added so much to the sausage and Mas potatoes. I also chose Guiness Mac and cheese as a side! This Mac and cheese had the Guiness flavor to it with a whole lot of cheesiness! Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! The service was a little slow but friendly! For the meatballs, Mac and cheese, and gravy - that is what you want from here. Second time at the Local starter the fried pickles that were crispier this time could have been down a little bit longer. Drinks started with the Irish red which was nice with a bit of sweetness, wife had a Snake bite which is a go to with nice separation. It's a cute little place with authentic Irish food and a great bar. The Guinness is cold, service is friendly, and food is excellent. I highly recommend the fish and chips, and the shepherds pie. The burger itself was nothing special, think of a western bacon(without BBQ) & surprisingly ALSO SALTY! I wish I could comment on the Guinness Mac & Cheese, unfortunately we never got utensils even after asking for them twice. Delicious food and chill vibes! Visited the Local with 5 coworkers on a Wednesday evening after a hotel employee recommended it - kudos to that person! The service was super quick and our server, Brian, despite letting us know it was his first week on the job, provided amazing service and helped us feel comfortable. Half the party got the bangers and mash and loved it, one got a steak, another got a burger, and I got the hot honey bourbon wings (8 count). Establishment closes at 10PM on Saturdays. Drove 45 minutes to restaurant, arrived at 8:30PM. Was seated promptly by waitress. About 2 minutes later, waitress walks out with another individual to tell us that they haven't had anyone come in for 2 hours and that they shut the kitchen down. That they could serve drinks. Wasn't there for drinks. Either start closing earlier or at least put something on the door. Doesn't matter to me because we will never return. My family and I decided to stop in Hopkinsville for lunch on our way to Nashville TN. The restaurant has a great vibe to it and the wait staff was super nice and had a good sense of humor. My only complaint Is that I ordered a burger, and when I received it, the patty was just a big lump of meat which made it very difficult to take an actual bite out of my burger. I had to basically nibble the patty to a point of actually being able to take a full bite. The fries were bomb though and the food wasn't awful just difficult to eat. I would go there again but I probably won't order a burger. read more

It was all tasty, so tasty, we got another round of drinks! For our main meals they were offering a daily special, Orange Chicken ($16) and the classic Fish & Chips ($16). The portions were HUGE and the food was outstanding. The atmosphere is great and the service was even better. If you are in town, you need to try The Local. You won't be disappointed! I wish 3.5 stars was an option. We were driving from Michigan to Atlanta and spent the night in Hopkinsville. We found The Local on Yelp. First of all, the ambiance is great and has the feel of an Irish Pub. We were there on a Saturday with live music. The bar was crowded and lively. If we were locals we would definitely come visit for some drinks on the weekend. My husband started with an Old Fashioned and I tried the Blackberry Bramble. They were both good and for our second round we both had beers. I had the Erdinger Hefe and he had a red ale. My son had the Chicken and Waffle Sliders and really enjoyed them. I tasted some of the chicken and it was very good. My husband had Whiskey Burger with fries. He said it was delicious and I was jealous I didn't get a burger. I had the Corned Beef Sliders and they just weren't good. Each slider only had one small piece of overcooked tough, dry corned beef that was considerably smaller than the bun. I ended up putting all 3 small pieces into one slider bun. It was extremely disappointing especially considering it was an Irish Pub. Because my boys enjoyed their meals so much; if we lived nearby I would definitely go back and try something else off the menu. read more

The Irish nachos were a cheesy potato paradise. I had the shepherd's pie and it was easily one of the most mouthwatering dishes I've ever had. The Guinness Mac and cheese was as amazing as it sounds. My husband had the fish and chips and they were super authentic, crispy and plentiful! The cocktails offered a refreshing balance of flavors. They have a fairly traditional Irish menu - the standout dish being their fish and chips! The owner is from Ireland. His wife is from the area, which is how they landed in Hopkinsville. The food is fresh and ingredients are quality. They have a few draft beers, many local and Guinness, of course. Unfortunately, no IPA on draft when I was there but they have cans and bottles as well. There are a couple of booths that butt up against the bar that are the best of both worlds - booth sitting with family and bar top service! Ordered the Whiskey Burger. It was overcooked, under seasoned and dry. It had zero sauce or onion straws, not lettuce, onion, tomato...The onion rings were good. The fried pickles were over breaded and the sauce was bland. My friend had the Scotch Eggs and they were good flavor wise but overcooked. I also had the Nutcracker and it was decent, but lacked flavor. The waitress was extremely nice. I'm hopeful this was just a fluke because I have heard good things. The staff is very helpful and service is great. The pretzel was good and the mustard and beer cheese was good. The restaurant is very nice and has a good drink menu. Tonight we tried The Local in Hopkinsville for the first time. They had a salmon special posted on their FB page and it was calling out to me! First, I LOVE that you can make a reservation! We were seated in the "bar" area (our preference request) and it is very unique and we loved that it was a combo of booth and bar top. They have a very large drink menu with many options. Our bartender/server was great and told us about all of the drink and menu specials and asked if it was our first time in, when we said yes he very kindly gave us an overview of the menu and restaurant. For an appetizer we had the spinach and artichoke dip. It came out quickly in a cast iron pot and was served with house pita chips. Pita was amazing and the dip was so good! It is topped with cheddar cheese, so not typical on that type of dip but we loved it! (I mean we are originally from WI so we appreciate cheese!) I ordered the Catch of the Week, blackened salmon with a garlic parmesan cream sauce. It came with 2 sides that I opted for a side cesar salad and mashed potatoes. My mouth is still smiling over the salmon!!! Perfectly cooked, and oh so much deliciousness in every bite! The sides were very good as well, the mashed potatoes with the cream sauce was so good! My husband had the fish and chips and he really enjoyed his meal. The fish was light, but hearty with a LOT of fish! He said the coleslaw was creamy (just how he likes) and the fries were good also. This is my second time visiting this restaurant since it opened. I'm from Chicago and I visit a relative in Hopkinsville. I love the food and drinks here and they were so welcoming, during my first visit. Apparently, things have changed. I called the restaurant to see if they were open, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I asked to dine at 4:30pm. with a party of 2. I was asked to make a reservation. I was politely asked to leave, after 90 minutes (to free up the table). My check was paid. I would have left shortly thereafter regardless. I am used to this type of "service" in Chicago, but surprised to find it here. Just wasn't prepared. I'm unsure if I will return. read more

I got the fuzzy leprechaun,and my better half got a dark beer. I dont usually care for peach schnapps, but flavor was very light and fruity,not overwhelmingly sweet. As for the price- for an appetizer, 2 alcoholic beverages, and two meals (as well as two satisfied customers), we paid less than $60. That's not too shabby for a restaurant, especially one with a an upper grade array of pub food. That whiskey burger is now on the top of my list of "boodjie" burgers (some of yall call them gourmet burgers). I was in town for a night from Nashville and this place was a pleasant surprise. Fantastic beers on tap (Zombie Dust, really?!?). The fried pickles were a great start. And I've never been a big pork chop fan but their french onion porterhouse pork chop was very good. Juicy, tons of flavor, and I couldn't even finish it. The first time I tried the food here, it had promise. After tonight's meal, I am concerned this restaurant will do poorly due to inconsistency. I once again got the Irish Burger (see previous review). It's clear no one knows how to cook a medium burger. Not only was it well done, it was crumbly and falling apart. The cheese was not melted this time and the onions were practically non-existent. The fries were soggy. There was no seasoning this time. While my husband liked his repeat performance of fish and chips, and actually said the fish was done better (not burned) this time, the rest of the meal was subpar. The artichoke dip was congealed and the pita chips were burned. The pretzel we ordered was average, but the beer cheese was runny and thin. I may give them one more shot because of the promising first attempt, but after this I've already knocked the review down one star and am hesitant to spend my money here again. read more

I can't say enough good things about The Local. Everything I've ordered has been exceptional! My husband has memories of being in England and enjoying fish n chips as a child, this is the first place he has had real fish n chips. The Bavarian pretzel is a must. Tacos on Tuesday have been great the couple times we've had them. The staff is always polite and attentive. The owner does a great job of interacting with customers. It's all around a great place.
