It's a cute little place with authentic Irish food and a great bar. The Guinness is cold, service is friendly, and food is excellent. I highly recommend the fish and chips, and the shepherds pie. The crab cakes and pretzel are great starters. Make a reservation on Friday or Saturday, but definitely stop in.

First timer here! We came on St.Patricks, they were fairly busy but we got sat at an appropriate time. Host was super helpful at the start & end of our visit. Started with the Jalapeño Cheese Curds which were good just a bit salty. As my entree, I got the Whiskey Burger. The burger itself was nothing special, think of a western bacon(without BBQ) & surprisingly ALSO SALTY! I wish I could comment on the Guinness Mac & Cheese, unfortunately we never got utensils even after asking for them twice. We had our food for 20 minutes waiting for utensils, when our server finally came back with nothing but the check.

Excellent food and service ; took family from out of town; great ambience! I had ahi tuna ; cooked to perfection!

Food was great. Got to meet the owner, Peter, really nice guy. IF YOU DONT LIKE STOUTS, get the Guinness on tap. It is not like any other stout you ever had. Also, their whiskey burger and Guinness Mac & cheese are so good!

1/2lb Doughnut burger. Which was pretty dry and like a said a pain to try and eat.

My family and I decided to stop in Hopkinsville for lunch on our way to Nashville TN. The restaurant has a great vibe to it and the wait staff was super nice and had a good sense of humor. My only complaint Is that I ordered a burger, and when I received it, the patty was just a big lump of meat which made it very difficult to take an actual bite out of my burger. I had to basically nibble the patty to a point of actually being able to take a full bite. The fries were bomb though and the food wasn't awful just difficult to eat. I would go there again but I probably won't order a burger.

My wife and I were passing through on a two-day road trip and decided to finish the night with a toast to her grandfather who passed in 2011. It happened to be national cocktail drink day, so we ordered his favorite, two Old Fashions. I asked the friendly bartender to choose a good Kentucky whiskey, and got his favorite, Bulleit. Very well done! We ordered the Irish Nachos and were delighted at the innovation and execution of slices of potato, corned beef, sour crème and chives. Fabulous! Good atmosphere, moderate crowd for a Thursday, and good overall experience.

We were in Hopkinsville for work and had a delectable meal at The Local. We started with drinks, The Local Marg ($8) and an Old Fashion ($10) with the Irish Beer Cheese & Bavarian Pretzel ($12). It was all tasty, so tasty, we got another round of drinks! For our main meals they were offering a daily special, Orange Chicken ($16) and the classic Fish & Chips ($16). The portions were HUGE and the food was outstanding. The atmosphere is great and the service was even better. If you are in town, you need to try The Local. You won't be disappointed! Side note - beware a lot of restaurants are closed in Hopkinsville on Mondays and The Local is not one of them! Plus, right now they are have trivia nights on Mondays!

I wish 3.5 stars was an option. We were driving from Michigan to Atlanta and spent the night in Hopkinsville. We found The Local on Yelp. First of all, the ambiance is great and has the feel of an Irish Pub. We were there on a Saturday with live music. The bar was crowded and lively. If we were locals we would definitely come visit for some drinks on the weekend. My husband started with an Old Fashioned and I tried the Blackberry Bramble. They were both good and for our second round we both had beers. I had the Erdinger Hefe and he had a red ale. My son had the Chicken and Waffle Sliders and really enjoyed them. I tasted some of the chicken and it was very good. My husband had Whiskey Burger with fries. He said it was delicious and I was jealous I didn't get a burger. I had the Corned Beef Sliders and they just weren't good. Each slider only had one small piece of overcooked tough, dry corned beef that was considerably smaller than the bun. I ended up putting all 3 small pieces into one slider bun. It was extremely disappointing especially considering it was an Irish Pub. Because my boys enjoyed their meals so much; if we lived nearby I would definitely go back and try something else off the menu.

It's only ok. The only way the fish has any flavor is to cover it with vinegar. The pretzel was excellent. The whole experience was way over priced. Service was extremely slow. There has to be better places in town.

My husband said it was just ok, so he ordered an old fashioned as well and he loved it. The drinks are nice and strong and tasty. We didn't get an appetizer because i wanted to have dessert instead, so for our entrees we got the fish and chips with regular steak fries, and the classic Reuben with sweet potato fries. We split both and they were both delicious! We really enjoyed our food. For dessert we got the Baileys Irish Cream cheesecake and that was incredibly tasty. We went at lunchtime on a Saturday, so there was no band playing Irish music but it really had a nice Irish ambiance in the restaurant. We will definitely be back to try more items.

Not long after we ordered, there was live music, which set the perfect tone for the evening. One thing I really appreciated was the noise level in the low ceilinged room. The music brought energy and a great atmosphere, but was never too loud. We ordered the Scotch Eggs (a must!), fish & chips, bangers & mash, and Bailey's cheesecake. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot! The fast service, great vibes, and incredible service have me dreaming of my next visit to Mcnamara's!!

I didn't take any photos during that trip for this review and since everything about Harper House said, "Come on back and get some more." we decided to get back up there for another round. Reservations were for 7pm and we got there a tad early, but were seated promptly and probably right at 7pm...I wasn't checking my watch. We started off with a basket of their fried pickles (last time we started with the Group Grazing Board, but we had more in our party). They came out from the kitchen quickly and there's a really good portion for the price. They weren't as crispy as they could be, but they were really tasty. They came with a house made ranch dipping sauce that was just what we expected...ranch sauce. They did bring out some of their house cornbread as well with strawberry butter. I'm not a fan of cornbread all in all unless it comes in muffin form with cheese and jalapenos to eat with some pinto beans...but this was good. Had a hint of sweetness to it as well, which went well with the strawberry butter. My wife ordered the 7oz center cut filet mignon but she subsituted the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts for Harper House Mac-n-Cheese and Crispy Red Potatoes. Initially, the filet came out slightly underdone, but they quickly made it right. She really liked it, said that it was exactly what a filet should be...and the peppercorn demi glaze made it that much better. I ordered the ribeye and kept the sides as is (baked potato & thin cut crispy onion strings). This was a super flavorful cut with an insanely rich, bold flavor and just the right amount of fat marbled throughout the cut. If you live right there in Cadiz and haven't been to Harper House, head over there to grab a bite. If you live down I24, you owe it to yourself to make the 30 minute drive and give it a shot. It's well worth the trip.

For an appetizer, I kicked things off with 10 "Almost Famous" Wings. Let me just say this clearly: the Nash-Hot wings are the BEST in Franklin. If you are a single guy and into gaming and sports bars, this is the perfect place to go too. I wanted to go to Cole Commons in Fort Campbell to try the buffet with a new lady friend but they were closed for a very late brunch. The staff there recommended that we go to The Zone to dine at for a nice meal. When we both came inside, I was excited yet creeped out a bit. There were no females there except the staff. It has a very masculine energy. It kind of made me feel the same way I felt when I went to all male biker bar with a crazy chic when I was 15. I told my friend not to leave me alone in that place. She wasn't thrilled either but we decided to be open to this experience. The ladies restroom was clean and sanitary yet funny (in a very bad way). Look at the picture inserted below. We sat at the bar and tried to order a cocktail. It seemed only beer and soft drinks were available, No gin & tonics (boo hoo). No wine. Every cocktail listed on the menu were unavailable due to the lack of ingredients. The only one left was a Bahama Mama but she was missing two ingredients but the bartender said she could use a "substitute" . We were going to order food but a friend of my friend came in, and he said they were putting up a buffet of free food for everyone here! He invited us to partake in this nice buffet of Southern Food. SWEET! The cocktails we had looked red and tasted sweet and good but it did not look and taste like the tropical fruity rum drink Bahama Mama. It tasted and looked like that drink/ shot Red Headed Slut. So I called the drink a "Slutty RedNeck Bahama Mama". They were freaky good and we ordered them again. We liked our bartender, she was very kind and professional. I talked with her and my friend about eye colors, Hawaii, and the beach. When it came to pay the bill, we were told someone had paid for it. Mysterious?!?! I still wanted to tip the bartender. She said no that we were not suppose to tip her - that it was taken care of. I still slipped her a 20 and walked out with my friend. What an experience!!!! One of the creepiest bars and places I have went to in Fort Campbell. Free and tasty Southern comfort food. Free bastardized cocktails! Thank you Stranger! A very nice bartender with one green eye who wouldn't take my money. Secretly - Relieved that we walked out with our necks in tact. P.
