I do not normally like to talk down on local businesses. I Like to see the good in people, even on my worst days. I really hope that someone (if it is just one person) in this building actually cares about food, customer service, helping people, or just spreading any sort of joy or kindness in general.....but I did not see a shred of evidence during my dinner here. Here's the shorthand for anyone who doesn't want to read my family's story: The water tastes like blood here. The service is abysmal and takes way too long. The vibe is very unwelcoming and unpleasant. The food is low effort and extremely overpriced. Here is my experience: We had a group of six, we left the little ones at home- my niece and her older cousin. The family was stoked to have a night to have some good drinks, laughs, and food on our airbnb vacation. This was pretty much the only restaurant in the area so we had to go here. Safe to say our night and our fun came to a screeching halt. Immediately drunk patrons at the bar were yelling slurs and the bartenders laughing with them all buddy-buddy. Dirty looks from the hostess and bartenders. We are from NJ, so maybe we are just lucky and have cleaner tap water, but all our our tap waters tastes like blood to us. Straight up mercury. Same with the soda from the tap. Awful. Our extremely unhappy (from the start) waitress rolled her eyes when we told her this and asked for other water. We were brought bottled water about 20 minutes later by a different angry waiter. The service was abysmal. Everyone in there, including the bartenders, seemed like they wanted us dead. Angry furrowed brows all around. Our entire excruciating experience was almost two hours long, and this is even with us rushing to eat and drink quickly because the vibes were so awful in there. The "pizza" we ordered was a piece of thin hard bread with about an ounce of tomato sauce drizzled on it for $40. The food was overpriced and not very good. The mashed potatoes were a liquid. My sister ordered a burger excluding vegetables that she was allergic to yet it was brought out with everything she requested to be taken off right there on the burger. Careless. No one there cares. At all. Right from the start they seemed annoyed that we showed up. I understand that working sucks- I get that, I really get that. I fucking hate my job, serious I do. But if you work at a restaurant where people come to laugh and relax and have a night out, I really think you at least should be pleasant. I have worked plenty service jobs where I hated being there, but for the sake of kindness and humanity I would treat customers like people with feelings. I wouldn't treat them like a burden or like I hated them. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I pray for the miserable souls that work here and emanate mean and unpleasant energy. There is a future full of joy and love, we just need to start by spreading it to our neighbor. read more

Went here for dinner before a concert. Outdoor seating wasn't available so we were seated indoors. Nice dining room and nice decor, my only complaint was it was pretty warm inside. Not sure if their AC unit was broken or it's normally like that. Service was good, our server was ontop of everything, refilling drinks without us having to ask at times. She wasn't too friendly but she did her job so I can't complain too much. The food came out quickly and tasted well. I had the cheese curds and the spicy chicken bowl. I wanted to like this place more than I did, but The Local Table and Tap is really just okay! I came here for dinner on Sunday night with my family, and we were seated inside. Highly recommend requesting an outdoor table if you can, because that area is way cuter! For drinks, I got the Cucumber Collins, which was refreshing and delicious. If you like your drinks less sweet, try this. My sister and I split the Crab and Avocado Tostada, which was actually great - comes with two tostadas so it's perfect to share for two. I also got the Local Burger, which was not the best - just a mediocre burger (soggy bread, kind of flavorless) with mediocre fries. What I wish I ordered was the Sticky Chicken Lo-Mein Noodle Bowl! Be prepared, this bowl is massive in size but really good - we all ended up stealing some of it from my brother. Wow - took an hour and a half for a burger andI only got it once I brought it to the host's attention. The only saving grace was the host who was very nice and moved us inside once it started raining on their patio. Everything else, including the mediocre food and nonexistent service from our waiter (no refills of water; we only saw her to take our order and never again, not even to provide us a check) was across the board terrible. You may be tempted to go given its location and nice view of the lake on the outdoor patio, but the tax you pay for it is just not worth it. read more

We have been to Local Table & Tap many times over the years. We are locals and like to support local businesses. However, I can honestly say that last night will be the last time we go there. The quality of the food has extremely decreased, the service was beyond horrible and the amount of the bill for two salads with add ons, a hummus board, and one cocktail was outrages‍ ......I've worked in the food industry and totally understand and "get it". The excuse we got for the HOUR LONG WAIT for our food, as described above, ( none of which were entree meals) was totally unacceptable that the kitchen was "backed up". There were only four tables of guests inside and approximately 6-8 tables of guests outside. We were extremely disappointed ..... and I might add the two young ladies at the table next to us, experienced the same service. ( don't know about their food quality). The unfortunate thing is that it was their first time at the restaurant. They told us they would not be returning either. read more

The food was good but the prices on the menu are lower than the price the waiter will charge you. In addition to extra fee to use a credit card (that they don't tell you about either until after you've paid). We ordered four good items and three drinks. Everything, including the wine was $1 extra per item when the check arrived. The waiter and management - hoping that the customer would not notice. I wouldn't had said anything - if it was only 1 items. But every item on our check. So we brought it to the attention of the waiter. He sent over the manager. Who proceeded to argue with us, that the "prices are subject to change". The concept that prices are "subject to change" is generally a notice that next time, the cost could be more or less. However, I wouldn't expect to read $21 on the menu for pierogis and then the price increase to $22 by the time I've finished my meal. The Cabernet was $10 on the menu but I was charged $11. The beef bowl is listed as $24 on the menu and then I was charged $25. The burger is $17 on the menu but tonight they charged $18 after I ate it. The manager came over to argue that because the menu says "prices are subject to change", they can charge whatever they want and not notify you until after you eat it and the check comes. We are happy to pay "market price" but in that case, remove prices from the menu or state that it is MP. don't contradict the prices on the menu. That is not cool. When we pushed back. The manager yelled at us "it's only a few dollars!" As if, we shouldn't mind that she tacked an extra $1 onto every single menu item. And then threatened to call the police. Well we already paid the check and told her that we would happy to speak to the police. Call them. We waited for awhile and when the owner and the cops didn't show, we tried to tip the waiter in cash for his work (he refused) and then we left. So be aware of what you are getting into. read more

Normally, I don't complain about service, but in this case service was what made lunch a bad experience. Coffee came with creamer that curdled the coffee, so I checked the date on the little creamer packet and it was three months beyond date. Three months! I brought it to the attention of the waitress, and she got an attitude with me. The other aspect of service was that I was brought an ice water as requested, finish it almost immediately, and not once did she come by to ask if I'd like a refill. I was parched throughout the meal because she never came back to check on us. All she did was serve us outdated milk, take our order, and deliver food. Had the bulgogi beef tacos. The beef was tender and juicy. Other than that , was not impressed with the overall flavor or the inappropriate pickled jalapeño rings on top. $17 for two tacos that don't even include a side is way overpriced. We came here for one of the nights of our honeymoon last year and it was the best restaurant in NY and we are from the city! It was honestly better than any nyc restaurant with beautiful lake views, modern hip decor, excellent options, quality taste, perfect ambiance and plating. We got coffee steak frites and fish and chips and the whole ordeal was excellent. This year back for first yr anniversary the quality went down a whole lot but we still had a blast! The food was still yummy, whatever you choose they plate it very well except for one dish that look like it had been regurgitated but its ok I re-plated it myself at the table by sharing some w husband. They were out of almost everything, a total of 3 entrees and 7 out of 10 beers. So everytime we ordered just about anything it was out although they still advertised it on the chalk board and didnt care to erase. This was at 5 on a sunday and they dont close til 9 something. The ny prime rib was chewy at parts but cooked excellent w a yummy flavor, beautiful cauliflower and side of rustic shoestring fries which are one of the best menu items. The scallops werent worth the price and theyre very secretive about prices. They upsell but without menu prices and sometimes prices are wrong. We dont mind the price so it was ok but if you do be careful. The korean beef tacos were knock out good. So impressed by the glaze and the flavor and the portion. The spicy tar tar was a beautiful texture, perfect spice level and quality fish! The apricot beer was perfect Im now looking for it in the store for home lol The waitress wasnt very good she forgot most of the stuff. Forgot a beer, forget a cocktail, forgot fries. Random waitresses kept comin over asking how everything was or if we need anything yet we hadnt gotten anything cause the waitress forgot most of what we put in. She was a mess but we waited patiently and when she came we asked. Id say owners pay these girls better and then they will be able to provide adequate service. Also change suppliers because everything being sold out probably took half your profit last night. Other than that even though crowded the hostess was hustling! The food? Outstanding! The menu was surprising, thoughtful and well-planned. The flavors were so, so incredible. The drink selection? Creative and extensive. The ambiance was perfect. For two small-town Alaskans, it was exactly what we were looking for after a long day of driving. We asked to sit at the bar as that's more our style - casual. Before the bartender offered menus or a hello, she stated it was going to be a few minutes. Totally fine. But throughout the experience, she mostly ignored us. Which is what it is. Bad night, busy night, hates visitors, hates her job, thought we were bad tippers from start... who knows why? We don't expect much, but a few sentences of banter is nice and a reason we like to sit at the bar. Her friends came in and she perked up so that was good to see, but we like to chat as much as servers/tenders are able when they're working about what's going on in town, etc. I get that it's not always possible when it's busy, and maybe she was having a shit night, but that was our first, one and likely only time at Table and Tap and we were so happy to be in town, but her crappy mood put us in a bit of a crappy mood despite the great food. Anyway, honestly just offering a friendly reminder that some folks only come in once and are just visiting this beautiful community. The only reason this review is getting 1 star is because the food did taste good. We waited for over an hour to sit down and over an hour to get our food. the Califlower was super salty, the ceaser salad had to be cut with a knife to eat it, the tacos were good but only 2 for the price is insane. you will leave still hungry. I asked the server about the delay. Her response "If I could cook the food myself, I would." When we finally got the Calamari it was highly salted. Now we had to wait for 8 burgers and 1 steak dinner. When it finally arrived, more than an hour from being seated the $42 steak was dry (not med rare) and burgers were not as requested. Also, the tastes of the burgers were ok, not anything to brag about. The server never came over and asked if we liked the food, never filled up our water glasses, just never checked on us. Six of us went to this restaurant tonight. It was full w patrons. Took a long time for our server to take our order. We then waited almost two hours for the entrees to come. Three meals came out. Then my Avocado Lettuce Wraps arrived (photo attached). Brown and wilted lettuce and no tempura avocado within sight and very unappetizing presentation. Then our server informed us they'd run out of one of the two outstanding meals - after having already waited an hour an half plus. She removed the two entrees that either didn't come or were inedible and gave us the check. I asked for the mgr to let them know they'd fallen really short of the mark tonight and we were told they'd just left. Aside from some basic apologies from the server and adjusting the check nothing else was done and TWO of our party never got any food after a two hour stay. I know things go wrong and sometimes kitchens get backed up but we were never informed of this and just felt forgotten. It was very lazy service. My 12 year old was one of the folks that got no food and ended getting home to make him a meal. So so disappointing. Won't be going back. Been there once before and the service was better but the food was just ok. Not worth going back if this is how a problem is handled and the low level of customer service. read more

We ordered (me) steak frites and (him) burger. Let me tell you. I LOVE steak frites, I will always order them when they are on the menu. Here they were advertised as "coffee and porcini mushroom rubbed" not a word was mentioned about CHARRED. The pictures speak for themselves. When I mentioned they were burnt, I was assured "Coffee and porcini rubbed were a clear explanation of this". I was given a plate of charred inedible burnt steak. When I called attention to it, I was met by a gentleman who claimed because the meat was cooked already we could choose an alternative. He suggested the NY Strip. This alternative cut of meat was even worse. It tasted like something that had been cooked before. And it was burnt as well. Prob the best spot around this area. If it's crowded then wait times are pretty long to get served, consistency in some of the dishes is not there...sometimes the tuna is over salted, sometimes overly spicy. Cocktails are terrible but the beer selection is great. Overall though it's a solid spot by the lake that offers up quality food for the most part. If the drinks improved and the consistency was solid then this would be a true 4.5 star spot. Came here to eat after a Spartan Race at the Bethel Fairgrounds. It was busy. There were 4 of us and we were very hungery. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We grabbed drinks at the bar and decided to wait. After an HOUR we went up to see where we were in line and they told us there were still SEVEN PARTIES in front of us!!! Terrible management of time and business. We left without eating and there were 9 open tables. The restraunt was not using over half of their tables due to a "kitchen backup"?? Seat us, get us drinks, and tell us food is going to be a while. Thanks for wasting our time! My wife and I stayed in Swan Lake for a weekend getaway and went here on our first night. It was a perfect start to our weekend. Food was great and plenty of options for drinks. We first order the Potstickers and were very satisfied. My wife got the Angus NY Steak and loved it. She order medium rare and it came out perfect. Also came with a side of roasted veggies and mashed potatoes which were both delicious. I order the Wild Mushroom Ravioli with Shrimp and it was just what I was looking in a cold winter night. We have been to this place several times. The food is always good. Never quite the quality you would expect for the prices they charge, but usually a solid meal. Our experience last night completely soured me in the restaurant and I will not go back. I ordered the Cioppini which is a broad noodle pasta in a tomato broth with scallops, shrimp, cod, and mussels. When my dish arrived there were clumps of pasta sticking together. "Eh," I thought. "This can happen." I tasted it and it was quite good. BUT, 4 out of the 5 mussels on the plate did not open in cooking. I called our server, Diana, over and asked her if she would let the kitchen know that they put out a seafood dish in which 80% of the mussels were not edible. She disappeared and never came back. As she walked by the table to service other guests I flagged her down again and asked what she learned. Her response was, " Chef says we don't cook the mussels here. Some sometimes they open, and sometimes they don't. He says you can just crack 'em open."I found it inconceivable that any restaurant would receive pre-cooked shellfish, and thought Diana must be lying to me. I'm not sure why. So I asked to speak to a manager. She said ok then a few moments later one of the other servers from the floor came over, introduced herself, and asked how she could help. I was dubious that a working manager would also be working the floor as a server, nevertheless I explained the situation. She agreed that the dish should not have left the kitchen in the state I described. She apologized and assured me she would immediately take the dish to the kitchen and talk to the chef. She also told me that Diana had straight up lied to me when she said they don't cook the mussels on site, of course they do (I already knew that). She walked in to the restaurant and was out again in less than 30 seconds working her own tables. Certainly not enough time to walk tot he kitchen and have a conversation with anyone. This leads me to assume that another member of the staff lied to me. I was not looking to have the meal comped, I was looking to be heard and to help the restaurant avoid this issue in the future. Instead I got lied to by two servers and I will not go back. I should say that I have worked in many restaurants from white linen French service to college bars and I am loathe to complain or fault a server for a busy kitchen, and understand someone having an off day. I cannot understand bald face lying to a patron by not one, but two employees, and not taking any action to address a customers complaints. This seems like a cultural/management problem to me. And while the food is generally good and the setting right on the lake is lovely, I will not go back, and cannot recommend. read more
