4.5 A close friend suggested we take the 20-minute drive from the place we were staying to this spot, and it was well worth it. The place is well-lit, clean, and has a nice, chill vibe. The staff is super friendly, always smiling, and they all seem to enjoy being there. Food-wise, we got coffee, the Early Bird sandwich (sausage, egg, and cheddar on a biscuit), and another biscuit with jam (sorry, no pic). The biscuits are square, flaky, and buttery. The jam appeared to be homemade mixed berry, and it was really tasty. The SEC was also really good--pairing those buttery, flaky biscuits with sausage patties, cheddar, and egg made for breakfast perfection! If you're an avocado lover, the Early Bird should be your go-to, as they give you at least half an avocado. There are two drawbacks to the Walk In: 1) It's not a place with many seats. They have three tables and some counter space, so if you're planning to eat there, be warned. 2) I wish they had more bakery items besides biscuits, bagels, and cookies (which are also really good). They had a neon artwork of a croissant that wasn't lit up, so maybe they used to serve them but don't anymore? Overall, though, thumbs up! Stopped here on a roadtrip to the Finger Lakes as we were looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat. Clean and friendly place, nice sandwich selection (we enjoyed the turkey BLT and Big Italy sandwiches). We intended to sit at one of the two outdoor tables but the cashier let me know they were dog friendly inside (which was great because it was a bit hot outside). Definitely recommend. We didn't have any but coffee, drinks and baked good looked great. read more

The place was a little busy when we arrived just before noon, so we had to wait several minutes before someone took our order. We got an Early Bird sandwich to split, and two cups of the soup of the day. The soup was a deliciously creamy kale and sausage which would have been even better if they had served it hot instead of lukewarm. It was still pretty amazing, though. The Early Bird is a fried egg with avocado and greens and all, served on toasted sourdough. It's fantastic! Lunch for the two of us was $25 including tax and a good tip- they share tips among the staff, so as a former cook and dishwasher, I like to bump it up a bit. TL;DR- a win. 9/10 read more

Stumbled upon this gem while camping at Mongaup Pond, and it's easy to see why it's so popular--the line and the lively vibe outside say it all. I went all in with the turkey BLT sandwich (too hungry I forgot to take a picture) and snagged every single pastry they had on the counter. The pastries were chef's kiss--fresh, just the right amount of sweetness, and seriously addictive. The turkey BLT? Sure, it's shrunk a bit since those old review pics, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in flavor. So tasty, so worth it. The food is so comforting and warm. The service is definitely with a smile and such a warm and open area. You can smell the baking in the back. They have fresh bread and baked goods. I have returned only to be disappointed. I drove to town only to grab a couple of sammy's from here. The whole menu has changed. They took the best sandwichs off. Specifically, the Papa Smurf and the Caprese, which was so delicious and so simple... WHY?!?! ;( Settled for "The Works" which is Nova Lox, cream cheese, red onion and capers on an everything bagel. Way too much cream cheese was slapped on, and the amount of lox was a little bit overwhelming. It was delicious and I love lox, it was fresh but the ratio for the sandwich was not equal. The bagel was so small, it might as well have been non-existent since the cream cheese and lox was sliding out. Looks like everyone there is new. Not 1 familiar face. The wait for 2 sandwiches was 30 minutes at 3 in the afternoon. Ridiculous. Probably won't be returning since the menu online doesn't match the actual menu and half of the things that were on the menu, they didn't even have available. Delicious!!! We tried a few things and were all very happy with our orders. I got the fried green tomato sandwich and devoured it. We had mixed reviews on the biscuit. Some liked that it was buttery and warm and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Others wanted a more dense texture like a traditional southern biscuit. The Walk In has a good range of creatively named sandwiches. My Son of Sabich with egg, eggplant, pickle, and hummus was amazing. I can highly recommend trying one of their home-made cookies while you wait for your sandwich. I had their ginger molasses cookie, which was gingery, chewy deliciousness. The waits are far too long, truly egregious. Our party of four ordered four sandwiches (no substitutions or anything special) and the length of time between the first and last sandwich coming out was 45 minutes. No two sandwiches came out at the same time, either. Last time I was there I watched an employee use her bare fingers to flop a fried egg onto a sandwich. The time before that, I watched another sandwich tech stick his gloved pinky fingers into his ears and rummage them around in his ear holes before going back to handling sandwiches. Kind of defeats the point of gloves? I dunno. The biscuits are sometimes good but sometimes leaden and chewy. Want to come back but not until they can figure out how to be more efficient. read more

Livingston Manor just got a major upgrade. We might have lost our German bakery, but the brand new biscuit counter - The Walk In - is absolutely spectacular. The whole experience here, from the second you spot the c. 1950s sign on the brick building, is all about the customer. Ample outdoor seating and plush leather chairs inside provide plenty of space for the large crowds already forming here every day they're open. There's great coffee (hot and iced) and plenty of other morning options like juice and tea. But for me, it's all about the biscuits. I am a southern mountain boy, after all... Flaky and full of flavor, baked across the street at their yet-to-open Neon Croissant, these biscuits are worth traveling for. I always rely on the perfect Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit. It's truly the best I've ever had. And at $8 it's a perfect full breakfast plate in sandwich form. The rotating special biscuits are always amazing too (check their Instagram each weekend for the newest in fashion). Latest hits: Braised Short-ribs, Ramp Relish, and Mustard Sauce. I got the biscuit of the week, which was a "grilled cheese," although it turned out not to be a grilled cheese at all in the traditional sense. But it was a very delicious biscuit with three kinds of cheeses, caramelized onions and a chili oil. It was fantastic. My other friends also got some terrific biscuits. The staff was very friendly. However, one of my friends had to go into the restaurant because apparently they just left his sandwich sitting on the counter and it got cold and the bacon had gotten chewy. The breakfast biscuit sandwiches were very good (which justifies my three star rating). Expect to wait an unusually long time to have your food prepared, even if it doesn't seem busy. I have to mention that I am still rather bothered by the cashier/barista's reaction to my request for a "warm-up" of my black coffee that she first gave to me when I placed and paid for my $60+ order and sat sipping for the next nearly half-hour while waiting for my food to come out. I actually didn't want the coffee before my food, but she handed it to me without asking so I took it. In fact, as soon as I realized that she planned to get all of my beverages ready immediately, I asked her to wait because I didn't want the three ice coffees that I had ordered to get warm/diluted. Consequently, I had a half a cup of cold coffee in my hand when the cook brought out my bag of sandwiches. The cashier/barista was stupefied by my request and said that all she could do was sell me another cup of coffee. Simply refilling my cup with some hot black coffee from the dispenser seemed to be an other-worldly request. That was a non-starter for me under the circumstances, and as I think about it now, I'm not even sure that she wouldn't have had me get in line behind the others waiting to place their order in order to get it. Some readers may disagree with me, but the coffee thing was a real turn-off. On principle, I refused to buy another coffee, put the lid back on the cup and walked out pondering how to get some more hot coffee somewhere else on my way back to the rental. Oh, and the cookies were large and looked very tempting, but expensive and turned out to look better than they tasted. The brown sugar oatmeal raisin cookie in particular was overly salty and had raisins so large that they were just overpowering (funny, I know - overpowering raisins...). read more

Wow these people are super nice and the food is awesome! The coffee was delicious- I had iced with oat milk. The biscuit with butter and jam was amazing and so fresh. I couldn't believe how good the burrata salad was- local ingredients including the burrata, peaches, arugula, pesto, and tomato- one of the top salads I have ever had.
