My company recently held a retirement celebration party upstairs in the Green Room. We had an open bar with appetizers and dinner. The event was perfect! The room was spacious for the number of people in attendance, it was clean, smelled great and the food was delicious! The staff - specifically Rachel and the other two bartenders (sorry, I've forgotten their names) were fantastic! I was in town for work looking for a decent meal and stumbled across this gem on Yelp. Checked out the menu which wasn't particularly impressive (just wasn't in the mood for American food) but I stopped in anyways because of the solid reviews and them being in business for 25 years (support local businesses)! So... Here I was sitting at the bar looking over the menu and not being excited about anything. So I asked the bartender what he recommended and he said "the pork chop". I Replied "sold". Next thing I know my chops are blown off by the sweet and breaded flavors, pun intended. This was the best damn pork chop I ever tasted. And the white cheddar grits complimented the dish perfectly. The steak was cooked to perfection, the macaroni and cheese was by far the best I've had in a good while and everyone enjoyed their meals. Definitely place for dinner. We had reservations and were a little early but quickly seated. My son had the ribeye steak medium rare and he said it was good a little too much seasoning for him. Came with Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. I ordered their 3 Cajun shrimp tacos from the starter menu. They were good as is but a little sweet for me. Asked for the habanero mango ranch definitely gave it a kick. The black widow margarita was perfect. Service was great very super nice lady and glad I asked for her recommendations. My husband the Cajun pasta with shrimp was outstanding! Must go great ambiance and location! read more

Purely based on the coconut cake. It's $12 a slice, but it's better than the fanciest restaurant coconut cake I've had. Nothing compares to my Grandma's cake, but this is GOOD. Next time we might try the dinner menu. read more

My wife and I have been going to the loft for 15 years. Might be our favorite restaurant in town. Meals we like: Our favorite has always been the pork chop, mac'n cheese, and brussels. We also love the unstuffed chicken and (filet) steak tips. We have always loved the Thai shrimp tacos as an appetizer. Beyond there food, the staff really care about the folks they serve and will go out of there way to make sure their guests are satisfied and properly taken care of. read more

Going against the grain here in this review, and it just may be the standard fare here in Columbus, but as a first timer here, I'm less than impressed... I'll provide the rationale below: 1. The restaurant opened at 5pm, I called at 5:12pm to make a reservation, only to be informed that they do not take reservations and instead they do a call aheads. I was receptive to this option and the receptionist informed me that I didn't need to put my name on the call ahead list since they had just opened and had plenty of seats available. We arrived at 5:21pm, to a booming, completely packed restaurant with a 45 min wait!!! I explained I had just called, showed them my phone with the number I had called and what I had been told. I was told that they filled up quickly and there was just one party in front of us. So we could wait and would be seated shortly. 2. It's now 6:24pm as I'm writing this review and we have yet to be seated. However, another party of four that came in maybe 10 min ago has already been seated due to them knowing one of the servers. How rude and privileged of an experience for these individuals. 3. The call ahead wait list is just a complete fail. About 7-10 other parties came in behind us with the same "I called ahead and put my name on the list" story, only to be told some excuse as to why they'd have to wait over an hour to be seated. 4. Ultimately, we decided to just sit at the bar and get a sandwich and some dip. This review has nothing to do with the quality of the food since the customer experience of our first hour and a half here has been deplorable. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend coming, calling, or even trying your luck with eating here, because at best you will be just as frustrated and hungry as we are. read more

We chose to sit outside & it was a nice environment enjoying other people walking around and eating. Our waiter was kind and knowledgeable (forgot his name sorry). The food was DELICIOUS I literally scrapped my plate after I was done. The grouper was cooked perfectly and still juicy, the sauce paired well. The Mac and cheese was cheesy goodness & I should've ordered more because one order just wasn't enough. The vegetable quinoa was really good and flavorful and I'd get it again. read more

Meh. I got the tilapia, which was okay, but certainly nothing memorable. It's the type of dish you would be unsurprised eating at some sort of corporate conference. Appreciate the free chips and dip to start, although I would describe all the food we had here (with the exception of dessert) as roughly "not bad, but could use more seasoning." Definitely overordered on dessert by getting both the pecan pie and the carrot cake - the serving sizes here are MASSIVE. The carrot cake slice was basically the size of a medium-aged child's head. Both were pretty good, although very sweet. Our waiter couldn't seem to understand anything we said, as he did the exact opposite of everything we asked for. It was honestly so baffling I couldn't even be mad about it. Went upstairs to the bar for drinks, and there was a live band playing for about 4 people (to be fair, it was a Wednesday at 10pm, which I gather is not an especially lively time here). If you don't like them, I'd suggest going elsewhere, as the music is very loud and you'll mostly be shouting to have a conversation at the bar. I would also not recommend ordering anything fancier than a well drink - one of my coworkers tried to get a French 75, which came with completely flat champagne and very little gin. My gin and tonic was fine, which, at that point, was really all I could ask for. read more

Ordered the mango margarita: boozy, plenty of mango flavor though, but disappointed by the size-- small for $12; cucumber mint lemonade was fiiire and a great size for $9. I had the portobello wrap and it was super good too with lots of goat cheese, spinach, and big pieces of mushroom; My side was the macaroni which was ooey gooey cheesy. Boyfriend had the pimento cheeseburger-- he was speechless and wants to learn to make the onion jam it had; his side of fries were spectacular too they seemed double fried/crunchy outside and soft middle. Such a great place to stop if you find yourself in Columbus. We are always driving through on our way to Florida so lunch is the only meal we're able to enjoy. This is a really solid choice for sandwiches and fries; weekday specials can be quite good as well. A cool vibe and really great service round out the experience here. Fantastic service. Food is amazing. The strawberry cake was "ok". The cake part was dry and tasted old but the frosting made up for it. Only downside are the hush puppies and they don't have regular tartar sauce-- all the sauces are spicy -- would be great to have a different sauce choice. read more

The Loft is one of our favorite places to go in Columbus Georgia. Always have great service very friendly servers and the food is always fantastic! This place SLAPS. Our server was Jane. Started off with complimentary chips & French onion dip. Super tasty. Had a wonderfully made old fashioned. Our appetizer was the Fried Gouda & Tomato Jam. Enjoyed this very much. The hot Gouda literally melts on your tongue. Upon Jane's recommendation, I ordered the day's special, grilled grouper & shrimp over pasta Florentine. This meal was super good. The grouper was crispy & nicely seasoned. Was complimented with the pasta & creamy sauce. My wife ordered the portobello press, a vegetarian sandwich. She said it was alright, and the Mac & cheese was rockin. After the great service & food, we knew dessert was a MUST. Jane said her favorites were the cookies & cream cake or the cheesecake. We kinda knew what we wanted though... The lava cake was tasty: warm, semi sweet sponge was complimented with dark chocolate lava & cool, creamy vanilla ice cream. Lastly, the carrot cake was a banger. Easily two or three inches thick and incredibly good. Had a wonderful experience here. Jane was a great server & our food was so satisfying. Wow! Put this place on your "Must Go To" list. It was outstanding. Our waitress "Jane" was a delight and very knowledgeable and have us 5* service. This place was busy, yet everything came out super quick. The homemade chips and dip they start you off with were great, but the pork chop and steaks were AMAZING. Both cooked perfectly, both with the perfect amount of seasoning. Try the marinated portobello and mac n cheese. Both were ample servings and delicious. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...DO NOT leave this place without trying one of their ridiculously delicious desserts. We had a huge piece of Strawberry cake with Strawberry butter cream icing. We split it 3 ways. It was so hard to decide on just one of their desserts. The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff all seemed glad to be there. This place is definitely worth the wait. Here for the BRAG and our large group of 16 made the best choice eating here. Shae (sp?) was our server, all by herself, and she did an amazing job. Super pleasant and ready for our big group. She took great care of us and my drink never was empty. The food was delicious! I had the shrimp taco appetizer as my meal with a side of sweet potato fries. The shrimp tacos had a fantastic flavor and were a huge serving of 3 tacos. They were very busy but did a great job getting the food out in a timely manner. If you get Shae leave her a big tip. Was searching for some of Columbus' best restaurants and stumbled across this place...and just had to check it out. Located in downtown Columbus in what is clearly the entertainment district of the area, The Loft seems to offer a good bar selection along with some decent food and tasty desserts. To start, our table ordered the shrimp tacos and while they were delivered quickly, there was nothing that stood out as special about them. The cabbage/slaw on top was a little heavy and would have been better balanced with a little more of that glaze they mentioned in the description, but overall it was a standard shrimp taco. I ended up ordering the Unstuffed Chicken, which seemed to be a favorite of most people and am I glad I did. I did opt to go with the cheese grits in lieu of the couscous, which I found to be a good choice. The chicken was moist and of decent portion, then covered in a creamy lemon butter and spinach sauce. The cheese grits were not as fancy, but they were just as tasty. I definitely recommend this dish! Overall, it was nothing too fancy or mind blowing, but I enjoyed my visit from "hello" to "thanks for coming". When I am back in the area, I will most certainly swing back in. read more

We got a reservation in the midst of an on going street fair. Service was fast and efficient. We both had the grilled Filet Medallions which were cooked to perfection. We rounded it out with White Cheddar Grits and sautéed Baby Spinach. It was an excellent meal and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere is loud and lively. Very nice space in downtown Columbus. I ordered the Sons noodles with grilled shrimp. It was so fresh and delicious with just the right amount of spice. This place was absolutely incredible. We ordered the unstuffed chicken and the pork chop. Both were so flavorful and rememberable. I usually don't order chicken dishes, and the waitress said it was her favorite menu item, so I gave it a shot. It was one of the best things I have had in a long time. My husband thought the same of his pork chop. The waiting staff was incredible. My drink was never empty, they were friendly, and it was a great ambience. Highly recommend.
