From our pre-dinner cocktail, in the lounge (with fabulous live piano music) to our fabulous dinner in the main dining room, then back to the lounge for coffee and dessert...everything was amazing. Our waiter was attentive, more than adequate staff for backup, and a personal welcome and introduction by the owner, Kirk Liddell, was a special touch. If you haven't been to The Log Cabin, since it's reopening earlier this year, you must go. Don't wait for a 'special occasion' because every day is a gift and special. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Our server was attentive, but not too attentive. I started with the French Onion soup which was perfect for a chilly evening. The ingredients were fresh and I enjoyed it very much. My partner had the Shellfish and Corn Chowder. He too was pleased with his choice. For our dinners I decided to try the Scallop and Cod Market Cake. It was their answer to a crab cake, unfortunately it was just okay. My partner had the 21 Day Aged NY Strip, he too was not impressed with his meal. There are several other places that may not have the same atmosphere, but have better food. Not sure where all the negativity is coming from regarding service. I came here for the first time on 11/24/18 after touring amish country. Made a reservation in advance. Every one from the hostess to the waiter were friendly and nice. Food was amazing too. The house salad lettuce was a bit cold but the lobster tacos, lamb chops, and filet were fantastic. We didn't have reservations and wanted to try our luck. There was ample seating at the bar, and we didn't mind eating dinner there at all. I absolutely adored the ambiance of this restaurant and even left with a ring on my finger which was pretty incredible. Celebrating our one year anniversary, my fiancé and I went out for a celebratory dinner and really enjoyed our experience. The pork belly appetizer was mouth-watering and worthy of a 5. We both opted for ribeyes; I had the petite with the coffee rub and he had the big boy served with a side of asparagus. My steak was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth, but I felt it was over sauced and too rich. The truffle fries were superb, however they clashed with the richness of the steak's sauce. For my first experience ever, not impressed. For a party of about 15, only 1 server to begin and proceed most of the orders. Once orders FINALLY arrived, total chaos by several servers. Cold soup, delicious yet cold, long delays, and a filet medallion at best. , not a full filet mignon as ordered. I wouldn't have even imagined being served a filet this small,.......ever. Yet there it was. I chose not to return it, even though overcooked. Every time I asked for a refill, or a missing fork, met with some sort of weird sighs or as if the servers are pressure rated based off performance. If so, replace most the staff. The bartender at the Log Cabin delivered a perfect one. The ehh parts: the food and dining room. We both got steak and it was fine but nothing I would return for. We did order two sides, the mushrooms and creamed spinach, which were tasty and allowed to be subbed for the dish's potatoes that I didn't want. The vibe totally changed from the bar area to dining room. It went from classy fun to almost a morgue-like seriousness. Dined here several times before it closed in 2016 and was very excited to see it open again this Spring. Made reservations easily and the person I spoke with over the phone was very polite. When we arrived it appeared that very little outside had been changed, which was fine. Once inside we were greeted by three young hostesses, all pleasant, and we seated immediately. Walking through the restaurant we took note that the floors were redone and first dinning room that we used to walk into was now just couches and chairs for seating. The garden room was completely redone in a good way...brighter and more open feeling. Service was attentive and prompt throughout the entire meal and the new cocktail menu provided a lot of choices. As for the cocktails themselves...very good! They had live music near the bar area but they also continued to play the background music in the garden room, which to start with was already too loud. So just imagine two different types music playing at the same time loudly to the point where it sounds like you are in the middle of a Metallica concert. The appetizers, salads and entrées leave a lot to be desired. It now seems like the menu is set up like Ruth's Chris where most of it all a la carte. We started with the appetizers by ordering the stone crab claws. For $20 I expected better than three overcooked claws. If you want a steak, veal, pork that is all you get. Sides are not included and cost extra. I ordered the 10 ounce veal chop for $34 and a Caesar salad for $10. I had one plate for the salad and one plate with nothing but the veal chop on it. Nothing looked spectacular about it when it came to the table and it tasted just okay. If anyone had the Caesar salad from before the closing they know how wonderful it tasted. The Cesar salad now is not wonderful. It just tastes like it is straight from the grocery store bottle. My husband order the duck which he was disappointed in but I liked. However, it definitely needed some sauce. The entire dish was very dry. We both noticed that the menu does now include a burger and fries. Finished with dessert - definitely not made in house. Left hungry. The Log Cabin before used to be a classy steakhouse where you wore dressy attire, left the kids at home for the evening, etc. But now it is a high priced, average tasting, barely any food, burger joint tucked away in the woods. For those who have been here before you will be very disappointed with the new Log Cabin. For those who have never been before you may like it. read more

The atmosphere is fantastic, very warm. Likewise, the staff was extremely pleasant. They had a classical pianist which only added to the lovely ambiance. They had a nice draught beer selection, as well as wine and cocktails. I had a Saranac Porter which was awesome. Probably a little sweet for some folks but I thoroughly enjoyed it. We started with a calamari appetizer. It wasn't the best I'ver had but it was close. A little oily, but very good. The waiter was very attentive for the first part of our meal. The second half though, we rarely saw him. He said he would be out with warm bread after we finished our appetizer; we never received it. I ordered the coffee rubbed rib eye, my date got halibut with risotto. I was slightly skeptical, but I like trying new things and a coffee rubbed steak intrigued me. Unfortunately it was a mistake. I get rib eyes because I like marbling. What I got was very lean, if I didn't know better I would have said it was filet mignon. Judging as a filet it was good I suppose, but it's just not my thing so I was very disappointed. It had none of the flavor that rib eyes are known for. The sauce it came in was good, but didn't make up for the shortcomings of the cut. It only came with fries, which I thought was a little odd. The menu didn't didn't say it came with anything else, so I didn't feel misled or anything, but our waiter didn't offer any sides or vegetables or salads either. Just a little weird in my opinion. The halibut was very good, as was the risotto. We both agreed it was excellent. It came with a medley of artichokes (very good), brussel sprouts (okay but chewy), and carrots (under cooked). Overall, my meal was mediocre and by date's was quite good. For the money though, I was very unimpressed. We might go back to give it another chance, but it will be a while. read more

I had the lobster Cobb salad to start (which could easily have been split between two people) and the single crab cake with mashed potatoes. The cake was all meat no filler and TLC remains my favorite place to get crab cake in Lancaster County. 3 others in our party got the ribeye and were more than happy with their selections. Serendipitous is the word to describe our most recent visit to the Log Cabin Restaurant. Who would expect a world class restaurant hidden in the farmland of Lancaster County, PA? Yet, there it is. We enjoyed the ambiance of a favorite old country inn with friendly faces and top-notch food. From the moment we walked in the door until the time we left we found the service impeccable. Every host and server was cordial and gracious without being intrusive. Those who are used to fine dining know that often it is the little things that make excellent service and the log cabin staff did those things well. The basic rule for servers is to "serve from then left and clear from the right." When the young man came to clear our table he discreetly cleared from the right. This is the kind of service one gets only at the best fine dining establishments. As good as the service was the food was even better. The menu was a fascinating combination of original dishes with a variety of seafood and land-based items. The lobster tail was very large for a lobster tail, was taken out of the shell, and perfectly prepared with drawn butter. The presentation was beautiful to behold. But do not bypass the Log Cabin's Steak and Chops menu. I recommend the 10 oz. boneless ribeye steak. It was cooked to perfection just the way I like it. The bonus was the Lancaster County root beer barbecue glaze. Yes, root beer in the glaze for a unique and tantalizing flavor added to the 21-day dry aged ribeye. It was one of the best steaks I have had in years. Even though we live almost an hour away from the Log Cabin, we are already planning our next visit. It is well worth the trip. read more

Opted to go to Log Cabin for a romantic dinner when we were visitng the area. It's sort of in the middle of no where but we had a great experience. It's a dressy environment so no schlumpy clothes! Our waitress was very friendly and the service was great all around. I had the pork chop which was delicious and cooked well. It came with some delicious sides - a baked potato, green beans (my fave). We also got bread for the table - still warm and very good! Hands down the best restaurant in Leola, PA. Appetizer 3 shrimp cocktail which is to small to split. My husband had seared scallops with muscles over a linguini garlic cream wine sauce. After having a not so good experience a few months ago, we decided to give it a try again. Unfortunately, there was no redemption. The food was not good. We had the calamari, barramundi and a few other entrees. The food tasted as though it was previously frozen. The barramundi was discolored and fishy. Neither my dad or I finished our entree, for fear of food poisoning, and it just didn't taste good. It's a shame because the atmosphere outside is pretty. A very rustic restaurant in a secluded area. Quite tranquil and beautiful. The old people portrait prints were kinda freaky. Service was attentive , hostess was so very friendly . Appetizer of the escargot was rich and delicious, the onion soup was cheesy and tasty as well. I prefer a richer tasting broth but it was good. I had the Halibut special which was sooo good and cooked perfectly. The mash and mixed veggies were underwhelming. The dinner salad was fresh and plentiful. The men had the strip steaks. They said it had a great flavor but the meat was tough and not butterknife tender as it should have been for that price. The crab pasta was good. Several pieces of lump crabmeat, too many peas though. This is a very good restaurant; but with the high price tag everything should be excellent. Try it for a special occassion. read more

My wife and I were looking for a special place to try for our 15th wedding anniversary and we decided on this. I made a reservation thru their website which was a service with open table. When making the reservation it asked if this was a special occasion so I added it was our anniversary. When we arrived it was a very beautiful place. When we were seated there was a sign on the table saying Happy Anniversary along with a mason jar full of flowers! How nice and thoughtful was that! And then it was even better when the food arrived! This place is absolutely fabulous!!!! I read many reviews and was hesitant about going. A lot of the negative reviews are from people that went to this restaurant years ago. Now it has a new owner and things are probably different, and change is hard. That being said, The Log Cabin is fine dining at its best. Yes, it's pricey, but if you want to have a nice night out, this is the place! It's set back at the end of the neighborhood, ( would never know it's there). Gorgeous setting, our server Adrian was wonderful, she was funny, sweet, very attentive and quick! Ok so onto the food.... just wow! I had the filet. It comes with fingerling sliced potatoes, I also had Oscar asparagus, ( asparagus with a light creamy sauce over the steak). The filet was the most tender filet I've ever had. $32 for a 6 ounce. My husband had rack of lamb and he said it was by far the best he's ever had. Yes your sides cost extra. It is ala cart. The owner came over to talk with us at the end of the night, he showed us around the whole restaurant, ( which has many different unique dining rooms). It was busy but not overwhelmingly busy. He also introduced us to the head Chef who was delightful! The whole dinner was an experience. The ambiance, setting, people, wine, food. This may be one of our favorite places to go. Over the hill and through the woods and the covered bridge, this is by far our favorite steak place in Lancaster County. We haven't been there since our Son graduated from Franklin & Marshall College almost 30 years ago. It still has the same old world charm and the excellent food continues. What a spectacular dining experience! The seating was spacious and intimate. The walls were adorned with artwork befitting the historic log cabin. Three people welcomed us when we entered the restaurant. A guitar soloist played soft music. The server was friendly, informative and attentive. The owner of the restaurant walked around and checked on the patrons. He was engaging and was interested in what we had to say. The food was phenomenal! We enjoyed the lobster bisque, the perfectly prepared lamb chops, and the outstanding swordfish. The meat, fish and vegetables were unbelievably fresh. This was a memorable dining experience and stands out as one of the best culinary adventures ever. It is a little pricy but is a special place we like to go for special occasions. They have live music Friday and Saturday evenings. The only negative comment I would give the owners of the Log Cabin is that a vegetable should be included with a full dinner entre and should not be an al carte item. I went here for a work dinner last week and all aspects were great. The drive in has to be one of the coolest parts, where else do you take a windy back road, turn on to a residential street and find a cozy restaurant at the end? Very unique, and it allow for awesome views once inside. The building was very old and interesting, each room was decorated differently. The tavern/bar area was a great place to have a drink before dinner. They had a great selection of wine and specialty cocktails. We had almost every appetizer on the menu and they were all delicious. Specifically the trout, the crab, the shrimp and the cheese plate. Even the bread they bake in house was awesome. For dinner I had a crab linguini - great flavor and a very hearty portion. This isn't a place where they charge a fortune for bite size portions. We were a table of 8 and everyone else was raving about their meals also. Very attentive service all night. Never an empty glass. We had an assortment of desserts also - must try their PB ball! I will definitely be back. This is a great hidden gem for the Lancaster area. read more

Went to the new Log Cabin for a group party and expected the same quality and competence as the old Log Cabin. Wrong. Ordered the meal at about 7:00PM and waited for 2 1/2 hours to be served, with no apologies. The onion soup I ordered had more cheese than soup in the bowl. The Caesar salad was packed with anchovies, overwhelming any other taste. My wife ordered Grey Goose vodka but upon drinking it, knew that it was some lesser brand. It has been several years since we dined at the Log Cabin, and this particular evening it was to honor a loved one. We both ordered a cocktail before dinner, split a wedge salad, each ordered the 6 oz. filet mignon medium rare with the lobster tail add-on ($102/each) and a glass of house Pinot Noir with our dinner. The accompaniment to the meal was crunchy buttered noodles and an undercooked basic vegetable medley. What restaurant of this caliber serves buttered noodles? Where was a potato dish (baked/scalloped/mashed) and a roasted fall vegetable? The steaks were not cooked to the proper temperature - one was medium well, the other medium rare. It took our server quite some time to return to our table. She removed our plates, and we waited 20+ minutes for new dinners to arrive. The filets were cooked properly this time. How does a restaurant who prides itself on steaks/chops not cook them perfectly EVERY TIME? She was apologetic and indicated she would speak with management regarding an adjustment to our bill. We were presented with our bill which did not show any adjustments nor was anything acknowledged further. Not even an offer for a complimentary dessert or after dinner drink?? We felt she did not deserve to be slighted on her tip, as she did her best, but for over $330, we will not be returning any time soon. read more

We've been to The Log Cabin every year for the past three years for our anniversary. So yes, I'm going to compare our experience we recently had to the past two years dinners. My husband and I get the same meal every year. He ordered the Porterhouse and I wanted 1 crab cake and a little bit of steak. They didn't have that option. The waitress told me that I could add a crab cake for a reduced price to my steak entree. Got the bill and I was charged for the single entree price for the crab cake. Had I known I was going to be charged that much, I would have ordered something different. So my meal ended up being $69 (16oz ribeye, 1 crab cake and mashed potatoes)! In the past the bread was really good...and in a heart shape. Nice little touch to celebrate our anniversary. The butter was so good too in the past...sea salt added to the top of the butter...just delicious! This year was two rolls and whipped butter. Not enough butter for two rolls. Wasn't impressed with the quality. We ordered French onion soup...which was good but I wasn't even 1/2 way through my soup when our meal came out. So after I finished my soup, my crab cake was already getting cold by the time I got to eat it. I looked at the table next to us and it looked like the same thing happened with them. She had more than 1/2 her salad still in her bowl when their meal came. So, they've got to do a better job with their timing. Now in years past our meal came with a vegetable and a starch. Now everything is a la carte. $4 extra per side. So if you order a steak...that's all that'll be on the white plate. We ordered mashed potatoes and it looked like instant mashed potatoes, I'm not even kidding. No greenery on them...just plain mush. Presentation has much to be desired. Wasn't impressed. My crab cake was good but the ribeye I ordered wasn't. In years past they had some kind of seasonings with herb/butter incrusted on the steak. They use to be amazing!! Melt in your mouth...couldn't get enough. This time there was some kind of steak sauce under the steak...that "steak sauce" took away from the flavor of the steak. Again wasn't impressed. I will most likely never go back after our dinner we had just a few days ago. There was nothing outstanding that would make me want to go back. Very overpriced for what you get. I even heard someone order a hamburger?!? Really?!? A place that charges $55 for a 20oz Porterhouse with no sides also serves hamburgers. There's a disconnect. My guess is that they're trying to be like a Ruth Chris...which they definitely are not. Really disappointed... read more
