This is our third visit at The Lombardy and we continue to come back because of the level of service. Agim and Shawn constantly looked after us to make sure that we were okay. I've been in a boot and hand braces, so Agim made sure that I was able to navigate easily. The facilities are amazing! Each room is decorated differently and is set up differently. However, Each room is set up like a suite with a kitchenette, bathroom and living room area. It really reminds you of an old school place with wonderful amenities and old school charm. It's also located near a number of bars, restaurants, shops and other services. You can't go wrong staying here and it's our new NYC home away from home. read more

I never post Yelp reviews but am super frustrated with this hotel and thought I should warn others. I never got the chance to stay at the Lombardy after having a nightmare experience with their staff. First, I was told by one person that the Lombardy's meeting room was available and that there would be no cost to use it if I was staying at the hotel. After making a reservation and attempting to proceed with booking the meeting room, another person told me that we actually had to have 10 or more people staying there to get the room for free. Since we wouldn't meet that threshold they then told me that the rate for booking the room would be $500. Already frustrated with the back and forth, I agreed to the rate and asked to proceed. The Assistant Director then ghosted me, ignoring multiple emails. I finally got her on the phone and she then told me that they actually had an internal meeting that would conflict with our date and we wouldn't be able to use the meeting room after all. This was 2 weeks before the meeting, leaving us to scramble to try and find something else. I called back a few minutes later to cancel my room reservation and they couldn't even find it in their system, despite me having a confirmation number, email, and having booked directly through their website. In addition to all of the disorganization, the Assistant Director was unprofessional and rude. She did not once apologize and attempted to argue when I expressed my frustration. All in all, this situation left me with the feeling that this hotel is greatly mismanaged and you should be cautious before booking with them. read more

I will say I was super cautious when we checked in due to mixed reviews about dated rooms. The rooms are all different and individually owned so just know that. Our room was Asian inspired and a bit dated but clean and huge. Since I was prepared, it was fine. But there was thin sheets and lumpy pillows. People like a down comforter and full pillows. The rooms need updating if going to be rented for hotel stays. It's in a great location, close to everything. But there are no amenities in the hotel at all. As long as you're aware, I think you'll enjoy the extra space the rooms have. But it's also a crap shoot what kind of room you'll get. read more

The Lombardy does not deserve to be called a 4 star hotel. The highlight of my trip included sleeping on wood planks with paper sheets while watching a TV from the 80's (wires hanging and all), hearing my neighbors flush their toilet through piping in my room, stomping on the floor above me, loud shouting in the hallways at night, being locked out of my room because the key card was "deactivated", the coffee machine with no coffee, oh and the lovely hospitality of the front desk hanging up on me, not one staff member saying hello, and the doorman never opening the door for us. Unless you know a good room number to stay in here, don't risk the gamble, even if it is reasonably priced. Room 811: First stay here and it worked great! The location is nice -- walking distance to many restaurants, shops and Central Park. We booked a one bedroom suite for 3 and it worked out well. It's nice having some space. The kitchenette was in a closet -- super tiny! But we didn't use it except to store our drinks so not a big deal. Temperature control was tough as the rooms were hot all day and night and none of the windows opened. Very clean, nice decor and spacious enough. Internet very spotty and bad -- TVs didn't work but we were out and about most of the time. Would stay again! read more

Loved this hotel, the decor of the various units (apartments) and the staff. Great location as well. Nelson is a true asset to your hotel! Full of information and good vibes! We had some good conversations! Sully was very pleasant as was the bellman who was working overnight with Nelson. Daniel at check-in was nice and helpful with information as well. There was also a gentleman working in front of the hotel, perhaps also a bellman. I think his name was Agim (?) He was nice to chat with while I was coming and going and waiting for my rides. Simon was nice as well. A pantry in the lobby would be nice with juice, milk, water, snacks, etc... for guests to purchase. Whole Foods is a ten-minute walk from the hotel, which we frequented every other day! I recommend this hotel, just be aware that there are no food or drinks available. We had three suites and each provided us with all amenities, fridge, cutlery, pans, toaster, etc... Mine (1402) had a washer/dryer combo! A bathtub would have been awesome. The Lombardy is a condotel. Meaning each unit is owned by someone that rents it out to the hotel. So this means each unit is decorated differently but I'm sure they need to keep up a standard. The price is affordable for the location and size of the room. We had a 1 bedroom unit with large living room, bedroom, a small kitchen and bathroom. Although the kitchen is small it's a full kitchen with refrigerator, full stove, dishwasher and dining table. Hardwood floors added a nice touch to the apartment. Modernly furnished with two TVs and 2 couches 2 his/hers small walk in closets. The employees are nice especially Jimmy and the GM. I absolutely love this hotel and will be my hotel of choice for future Nyc stays. read more

LARGER ROOMS means you get COCKROACHES the size of puppies !!!!! WE paid over $800 a night to be unindated with COCKROACHES....when we complained about the room, they switched us to another room....too late, they were in our clothes ! Two rooms with roaches for almost a full months rent where we live....when we got home, I awoke to a huge COCKROACH in my bathroom ! WE NEVER EVER HAD ROACHES BEFORE ! When we called management to complain, we were told all the units are individually owned by individual investors and they are not responsible ....WHAT ?????? I would recommend staying away, because if something terrible happens during your visit, they will say "we don't own the unit" ! Maybe full knowledge should've been made to us....STAY AWAY.....ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN !!!!!!!! I would rate it no stars, but I had to give at least one star for rating to go through. UPDATE : When we called to complain after we got home, we were told "it is too bad about your experience with COCKROACHES, but we would be willing to give you a 'good rate' on your next stay".......m-m-m-m-m....I would have to be a moron to book another stay there with COCKROACHES running rampant ! The Lombardy - THIS IS WHAT TO EXPECT at $800.00 per night ! - Hotels Near Me - New York, New York

Stayed here for a mini vacation because we wanted something a little different from a typical hotel. The Lombardy is a residential style hotel and even rents out rooms on month to month basis. We used a Groupon deal for a suite with a king bed and city view for slightly less than $400 plus tax per night. As you enter the hotel, sometimes there is a doorman that will greet you and sometimes not. The check in was made easy and the room key is your typical card you use to ride the elevator up and opens the room door. As we were given a room on the fourth floor, there was really no great city view, but if out and about most the time that is totally fine. We were told no rooms at the hotel were the same as each is unique. Pretty interesting! Our room included a kitchenette, living room, dining area, bedroom with king bed and walk in closet, bathroom with shower, LCD TV, free WiFi, old school phone, toiletries (but no toothpaste or toothbrush), bathrobes, a safe, and an iron/ironing board...all of this in 900 sq ft.! The air conditioning was a little weak during our stay and we had some trouble adjusting the temperature, as there was no visible thermostat but rather buttons hidden under the vent that we discovered, as we tried to call housekeeping/front desk to find help but help did not come until 45 mins later. I also think we got an older unit seeing the photos from others' trips that look more contemporary. Breakfast is given to you in form of a complimentary card for one coffee/tea and a pastry per person at Ninth Street Espresso located right next door. It can be easily accessed through the first floor (lobby) near the salon and the steakhouse the hotel is attached to. The subway is easy enough to get to from the hotel and the surroundings were quiet and safe. Overall, a decent choice to stay in the city especially for Midtown East. Would I stay here again? It depends on the pricing and if there are better and closer deals to lower Manhattan as I usually frequent that area. Also, check out is 12 sharp, they will call your room phone to remind you! I didn't notice anything spectacular about service but it served it's purpose for our trip. read more

I had the most wonderful hotel experience these last two weeks at Lombardy. Seasoned friendly staff. Immaculate and large room with kitchen and walk in closet. I fell a broke my ankle in NYC and the entire staff of the hotel did EVERYTHING to assist me including complimentary pep talks! The Hotel was able to provide a handicapped shower seat as well as a loaner wheel chair for me to get ex rays. Staff kept me in fresh ice packs 24/7, Al at the front desk orchestrated things for me and Bozena was so amazing to volunteer to assist me with in and out of shower and dressing and even made me coffee. I was NOT Eloise at The Plaza - I was Laura at The Lombardy!! I will stay again as soon as I heal up and can go back - happy to have found good place and make friends for life! Does my room REALLY contain a king size bed, two night stands, a three seater sofa, desk, dining table, nine drawer dresser, and TV? Yes? Really really? Does the kitchenette really have a mini fridge, microwave, sink, silverware and flatware, and an assortment of small appliances? Yes? REALLY really? Is the bed niiiiiiice and firm? Do the housekeepers reeeeally give you extra chocolates? Is there reeeeeally free Ethernet?? Sure, the hotel itself is a little bit old. There IS kind of that "old hotel" smell when you enter the lobby. Sure, they didn't REALLY listen to my booking "request" and ended up giving me a smoking room (which, thankfully, does not smell smoky, and if it weren't for the ashtrays, I wouldn't know better). Sure, the furnishings are a little spartan, but at least everything's clean and well-kept. And, sure, the room service Kobe burger with fries really DID cost me $28. But REALLY...how often do you get a room in Midtown Manhattan for $245/night that is ridiculously gigantor and could probably fit six king-sized beds just in the living space? I know that people come to NY and don't expect to be in their hotel rooms much, but this hotel gets 3.5 stars because, for a couple days of being holed up in a hotel room, studying for the bar in the city that never sleeps, the Lombardy Hotel delivered much appreciated peace and quiet. read more

We booked this hotel for a 5 day stay in the city. We were contemplating between the Waldorf/W and then came across this one. It was a gamble but we decided to see what it was about. The photos/reviews I read before going to this hotel did not do it justice. Upon arrival we were checked into our room which was an APARTMENT. So much more amazing then the closet of a room we would have gotten at the W. We had a large living room, kitchen, walk in closets. Everything was clean and perfect. Although the air condition was a little outdated looking but who cares? Also I think its important that I note that I am a very picky person and hard to please and this place did not disappoint in the least. The location of this hotel is also perfect. Walking distance to central park/ upper east side and close to a major subway line. All the reviews about the lobby are ridiculous it was a gorgeous lobby with a doorman and elevator man each time. Sully was one of the friendliest elevator attendants. I don't know why people said this place lacks "newness" It was very new and updated from everything we saw. I've stayed in posh hotels in Vegas before and this one definitely is up to par. But I also see that these are apartments that have been turned into hotels so it just depends on which one you get I guess we lucked out. Would def stay there again! read more

Paid top dollar but had no coffee or anywhere to buy even a snack. Had to go out to get anything. Location was good. Alot of food places around and close to everything in Manhattan. The room was nice. Could not regulate the room(412) temperature. You had to get a flashlight to see down to the antiquated system. The system had a modernized look around it to make it look good. We had to get up in the middle of the night to adjust it. No water in the room. We had to ask for it at the front desk. It had a kitchen with a refrigerator. Apparently you can pick a room ahead of time. Found that out too late. The staff was fine. The doorman was the best of all the staff members. The lighting was bad. You had to put makeup on in the hall. Better but not great as far as lighting goes. It is an ok hotel if you want to spend the $$$ due to the great location. read more

I give the hotel 1 star. We initially were given room 610 that has been THE WORST room we have ever seen in a New York City Hotel boasting reviews like they do. The coverlet was so old it was frayed and discolored. The furniture looked like something you would find in a second hand store with chips and completely outdated. The "kitchenette" was an old toaster and an old microwave. The TV was tiny and the bathroom Had tile of 1950's or 1960's. After complaining they gave us room 209. That one had same old sheets, a coverlet a small bit better and the bathroom was marble but the threshold between the bathroom and the old rug in The room was electric tape! These rooms are big but in dire need of upgrading in order to really compete with hotels charging the same Amount. They obviously lure everyone to their hotel because of their location which is enviable. They are banking on their location and inclusive breakfast but the entire hotel needs updating ASAP!! There's no other place in such a good location that will offer you such a large suit for such a price. We love Lombardy and stay here again and again. Stuff is always very helpful, friendly and accommodating and they do their best to solve any questions or even just help with random stuff. Same time you don't feel like they're intrusive or don't give you enough privacy, which I greatly appreciate. Rooms are very different in this hotel and we've seen a lot of them - it worth to pay extra for the updated bathroom/newer room and truly enjoy your stay, because they will have enough room not only to sleep, but also to chill and meet friends for a drink. Updated room are greatLittle kitchenettes and laundry are a nice addition as well, especially if you stay 4-5 days. read more

At first I wasn't going to write a review for this hotel. Yes, I was going to be selfish and try to keep this gem of a hotel to myself. But now that our NY office has moved to Miami, I'll go ahead and give the lowdown on my secret NY hotel. Whenever anyone from our Charleston office had to go visit our NY office, this would be our go-to hotel. We've stayed at other hotels in the area (mainly Renaissance Hotel 57 & Chambers Hotel) but we much prefer this hotel. Let's do a little pros and cons and pros and cons and proooooosss (Jimmy Fallon, anyone?). PROS - Best bang for your buck. These rooms/suites are HUGE by most standards. By NY standards, they're ginormous. For this part of midtown, it's impossible to find a bigger room for the same cost. Guaranteed. - They're quick to upgrade you. There have been several times that we've booked a standard room and got upgraded to suites. - Most or all of the rooms/suites are individually owned and then contracted with the Lombardy to be booked out as hotel rooms. There are several different floor plans and each one is decorated differently. Even though we stayed here a bunch, we never knew what our rooms would look like. So it was a tradition for me and my co-workers to go check out each others rooms as soon as we checked in to see who got the best one. - It's quiet. I've always had a peaceful night's sleep here. The same can not be said for Hotel 57. - The staff for the most part, has all been really friendly. We heard a rumor/joke about it being run by the Russian mofia. And if you book here, you'll see what I mean. However, we've always found everyone to be super nice and accommodating. - I've always found the rooms to be nice and clean. - I'm not sure if all of them have kitchens but all of the rooms we stayed in did. - They have their own car service. Not necessarily an unusual thing, and though it's a lot pricier than taking a taxi, it's nice to have the option to not try to flag down a taxi at 5pm on a Friday (I've tried, it's no fun). - When the bar that was attached was open, they offered a free continental breakfast. Not sure if they still do since the bar was being renovated for the majority of my trips there (I hear the bar is now open again so hopefully it's better than the pub-type atmosphere it used to have). CONS - It's a bit outdated. I personally think the lobby is rather nice, in an over-the-top, gaudy sort of way. It's not very modern. The same goes for the rooms. If you like trendy and modern, this is not the place for you. Chambers Hotel might be more your speed. - Keeping with the outdated aspect, they're old school and have an elevator attendant. They're sort of creepy and pretty pointless. I would rather push my own button to my floor, thankyouverymuch. - Not a whole lot of amenities. They did just recently add a gym, though. Just don't expect everything you normally would from a hotel, think of it more as a rental. For example, the first night of our stay, we'll always stop by Duane Reade to pick up bottled water because they don't offer those in the rooms. This is a case of what matters more to you when you book a hotel. If you're a no frills type of person that would enjoy coming back to a quiet room that you could really spread out in and enjoy, this is probably for you If you want to be wowed and pampered by a hotel, definitely look elsewhere. TIP: My favorite suite by far is #605. Another TIP: Try the pizza place across the street. Cheap and tasty! read more

Dang!!! Why can't more places be like the Lombardy? Frankly, I'm tired of NYC hotel rooms that are the size of your walk-in closet, but priced as if you were staying in a penthouse suite. Sure, the scene might be trendier and there might be a cool bar or restaurant downstairs, but after your first few stays you crave more arm room and a quiet space to retreat to when you're done battling your way through NYC streets. Lombardy is old school charm. It was clear when I checked in and checked out that I was one of the youngest guests staying at the hotel. While I wasn't going to be picking up any honeys at the hotel bar, it did mean I was going to have quiet neighbors. The Lombardy is QUIET!!! I couldn't believe how quiet it was in my room and I've lived all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. And finally to my favorite part - the incredible rooms. I was upgraded from a one room suite to a two room suite and we were blown away. The apartment measured over 1,000 sq feet easy. One room had two double beds while the other had a giant king. Two gorgeously redone full size bathrooms the size of most other NYC hotel rooms on opposite sides of the apartment. We had a full size living room with two couches, two chairs, and an ottoman - enough to seat 12 people. A refinished kitchenette with silverware and everything else you'd need short of cooking dinner was provided. Beds were comfy, rooms were very clean, and we were greeted at night to turn down service and chocolates. All this for $299+ tax for two people??? Lombardy is well situated between Park and Lex and is close to the 59th St subway stops. If you're looking for a trendy getaway, Lombardy won't fit the bill. But if you're in the market for a wonderfully peaceful retreat where you can actually stretch out for a reasonable rate, Lombardy should be on your short list of places to stay in NYC. read more

I must have come on an off weekend, because I was underwhelmed. The location and price of the hotel were good. The suite we stayed in felt tired. Every surface was dirty - think dirty light switches. Carpets and couches were stained. The bed skirt looked like someone had a sudden release of their bowels. The bathrooms were decent, but again not as maintained as I would have hoped. If you have fondness of marble and floor to ceiling mirrors then this is your place. There is nothing like being able to see yourself from every angle. The unit had a nice balcony and the hotel was dead quiet on the weekend. I found the staff to be generally unhelpful. Not in an overtly rude way, but not the go out of your way let me help you, that you expect when staying at a decent hotel. I had to convince them to practically convince them to valet my car. They came up with every alternative and work around to avoid taking it. Seemed weird. read more

Stayed one night at The Lombardy. Check in went smoothly. The room I was appointed had two queen beds, a small kitchenette, bathroom with tub and shower. The most impressive aspect about the room was the size of the bedroom. Compared to other hotels I've stayed in in NYC, it was much larger. The decor was a bit dated but that didn't bother me. I enjoyed the robe, slippers, and bottled water in the room. WiFi was free. On my stay, they offered a voucher for breakfast. I thought it might be a continental breakfast but to my surprise it was a very nice and bountiful breakfast buffet with great tasting coffee. Be prepared that there was a nightly resort fee which was about $11 or so. read more

I little odd but Duane Reade is around the corner. I never got the TV in the living room to work, but there is one in the bedroom. Great location. I usually stay over by 7th ave, but this was great. Lots of restaurant choices nearby. They offered breakfast but I didn't take advantage. Decent gym with a few aerobic machines and weights. Would like to give it 3.5 stars. I would give this hotel 4 stars despite it's rundown hallways and lobby due to the size and the state of our newly redone room were it not for the absolutely pathetic wireless Internet service. We are on a working vacation so reliable and fast connectivity is important. We are on the 14th floor and the connection is extremely slow and I constantly get kicked off the network. I've asked a couple of times and they've said they will reboot the router for my floor, assuring me that will take care of the problem ... it doesn't. The staff is very nice. The room is very large, well decorated and very clean. We have used the kitchenette to make breakfast -- there is an induction cooktop and a microwave. No venting or fan ... thought that would be a code requirement for a cooktop. Inadequate basic kitchen utensils -- no knives, no cutting block, no spatula. No dishwasher; but the housekeepers will clean the used dishes if you leave them in the sink. Only had one snafu with housekeeping -- they told us they would come clean the room during the 1 hour we were out (I had been sick, so spending most of the day in the room). When we returned, the room hadn't been serviced. The housekeeper didn't apologize and merely said she had been busy. New King bed is incredibly soft (we are used to sleeping on firm mattresses) and only had one set of King pillows which resulted in back and neck aches the next morning. They delivered 2 more sleeping pillows (there ample decorative pillows) upon request and that solved the problem. Very quiet; particularly with the air conditioning running. We have found the cooling system to be uneven - the bedroom cold and dry and the living room/kitchen area literally sticky with humidity. No fan in the bathroom either. The hallways are old, musty and dense with humidity -- made me worried as we were initially going to our room. This certainly is not a hip or fancy place. It is tired and in need of an upgrade. However, for the price, if you get a renovated room, it's worth it. We will likely stay here again -- but bring our own wifi hotspots. read more

From the moment we arrived we had nothing but wonderful service!! We were upgraded to a 2-Bedroom Suite which was wonderful news! The suite was beyond our expectations...although the carpeting in our suite had a few dirty spots/stains, the room was a ginormous apartment and the hotel was beautiful and felt like a diamond in the rough. The front desk was professional, helpful, and friendly. Our room was tidied up every day and in the evening we would return to our beds turned down and chocolates. The coffee shop had delicious orange-hibiscus tea and pastries. My ultimate favorite part about The Lombardy was our doorman - Agim. He was the cherry on top of our stay!! Not only did he offer advice and was helpful as a doorman should be - he was friendly, funny, and felt like a friend at the end of our 5 day stay. We sat outside with him and talked (in between him doing his job, of course) and shared stories. He took care of us like family. I would highly recommend The Lombardy to everyone. read more

(We had reserved a deluxe room). Clean, spacious, tastefully decorated. Friendly and accommodating staff. Great car service. Quiet (and we had the window to the balcony open) despite being right in midtown. Location is convenient (15 mins by taxi) to the attractions we wanted to see - Empire State Bldg, Rockerfeller Ctr, Chelsea Pier for a holiday dinner cruise and 9/11 museum & memorial. This was a special occasion so we splurged and spent more than we typically would for overnight accommodations but it was worth it and made for a memorable trip. I was there with a group of friends recently trying to have a great NYC experience. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with a tiny kitchenette and a large sized living room. While I found the aesthetics of both the building and room to have character and charm, the actual room itself was filthy. Pro: well priced, front desk staff very helpful Cons: when we came in late at night we found the security guard asleep in a small closet, the wall paper in the hallways were peeling badly, and we found 3 COCKROACHES ( one in each if the bathrooms and one in a bedroom). Stayed here NYE. It is a beautiful hotel in a great location. It was rather quiet for being in the city. The room was better than I imagined. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I absolutely recommend it. read more
