We immediately told him to check the security cameras because we absolutely paid our bill in cash. We even said we would gladly sit there while they reviewed the footage. Instead, we were told the cameras only go to the owner's home and apparently could not be checked. Being publicly accused of not paying a restaurant bill after you've already spent another evening there is embarrassing and unacceptable. If there is money missing, perhaps management should look internally before accusing paying customers. My recommendation: if you dine here, pay by credit card so you have proof of payment.

After placing our order they quoted us 15 to 20 minutes, so we sat at an empty table and waited. It only took about 10 minutes before our food was ready and we sat down to eat. As soon as my dad opened his meal I have to admit that I was jealous as it looked great. Thankfully my meal was absolutely amazing. The brown gravy was legit with a ton of flavor and I could not stop eating it. The burger patties were hot and seasoned well. The mac salad was also really good. My only complaint would be that the rice was a little sticky and made it hard to get everything out of the container. I was also able to try some of my dad's mochiko chicken and the breading had great flavor while the chicken inside was moist and juicy. My dad enjoyed everything on his plate as well, especially the ono. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. You can walk up and order or go online and order both for pick up. The Mochicko chicken is amazing, tender thigh meat cooked with a sweet rice batter. So delicious you want more. Came with rice and cabbage bacon, the cabbage had a light dressing that I could not figure out but was refreshing and complimented the Michicko chicken. The Chicken Mondu was similar to a fried wonton with moist marinated chicken inside, the pork was cooked perfectly moist and full of flavors in a brown gravy. Came with rice, kimchi and Mac salad. Would love to go back and try a few more of their dishes. Don't panic if you see a line, that's normal because the food is amazing reasonable and prepared with passion. While waiting for our food I checked out their website and a great story about the founding chef and his philosophy. After eating the food and reading the story it all makes sense. Fresh off the plane, first stop in Maui is almost always Da Kitchen. We were worried it was lost forever a few years ago, but nope, they just moved down the road. It's definitely not a formal place, but so relaxed, which is what I look for in Maui. We shared the Kalbi Ribs, and we were starving, and we couldn't eat them all especially after diving into the veggie spring rolls and deep fried musubi. My wife that doesn't usually even like musubi, enjoyed the deep fried version Da Kitchen offered. So go for it..try it if you have never had musubi, try this deep fried version!
