This place was amazing. I got the special ono plate and it was a huge amount of fish. It probably could have fed two people Absolutely delicious and super quick service. It's pretty much one of the only places on this side of Molokai and I was quite glad we didn't miss their open times on the way back from our hike! Warning they do close early, but their online hours are accurate. It's pretty much a window you walk up to and order at. There's very limited picnic bench seating outside. It seems that most people use it as a grab and go. Anyway, if you happen to be looking for somewhere to get a prepared meal this is going to be a much fresher and interesting option that what you'd find in the main town. A little hidden gem on the east side of Molokai. A great little plate lunch place spot with a small tiny market. Got the teri pork plate and as my dad suggested, it's his favorite and go to anytime he is out there. It's like teri pork candy, and my new favorite teri pork plate. Sweet, soft, some pieces of fatty pork like I like it. Their Mac salad is more along the style I like, a little more creamy flavor and not the tart style Mac salad. The Pipikaula was also delicious with a nice kick of heat that builds along the way. Our food was ready in good timing. They have outdoor seating area on both sides. The slight down was the teri chicken sandwich was a little over and dry. But the star in the teri pork outshined that. Came here when checking out the east end. All the locals were turning into this place to order food! I had the mahi burger. It came with a good pprtion of fish that was grilled, which was niver than having it fried. It also came with lettuce, tomato, onion and a mayo relish. Good but can be a bit dry. The standout was the hurricane fries which had an awesome spicy mayo. I would come back just for those fries! For my 1300th review, but of course I have to write about Frrrrrrried Chicken, and where does one go to get good frrrrrrried chicken on Molokai??? Ya gotta check out this joint called Mana'e Goods & Grindz!!! I was working on Molokai the last two weeks, and of course the best way to find a good place to eat is to ask a true "local" from Molokai. Lucky for me, da ladies at American Savings Bank wen' hook a Bruddah up as they led me to this joint, as they told me - "everythang is good at Mana'e Goods & Grindz!" So after finished up the job at the bank, I turned on my phone & drove 16 miles (one way) from Kaunakakai town, to find this drive-in da the sticks. Unfortunately for me, while I was driving out to Mana'e Goods & Grindz, apparently this drive-in was so remote that my phone lost signal while I was trying to navigate towards this little drive-in, in da the sticks. But no matter, as I lucked out as my rental car had a navigational device that was functional (while my phone stopped), and that's how I got to Mana'e Goods & Grindz. The best way to describe this business............. I would say it's half drive-in, & half convenience store. As you approach Mana'e Goods & Grindz, you will see an drive-in ordering counter, as menus were posted outside of the business so you can see what kind of grindz that they offered here. To the left of the drive-in ordering counter, you will see an entrance to the convenience store. There are several signs where they required customers to clean their hands (with sanitizer) before entering the store, as Mana'e Goods & Grindz provided a huge jug of hand sanitizer. I basically came here to get the Honey Dipt Chicken plate, and with the plate I got (1) scoop of white rice, and you can either pick mac salad, or toss salad. I opted for toss salad. What can I say about da GRINDZ???? For ($12.59) for the Honey Dipt Chicken plate............Bruddah Fran GOT DA GRINDZ!!! I was in deep frrrrrrried heaven with my frrrrrrrried chicken, as I got a wing, drumstick, thigh, & breast. The batter had a slight sweetness to it, the chicken batter was crispy, and the chicken meat was plump & juicy! Whoa! I hit pay dirt by coming here!!!! To wash down my delicious lunch, I just went next door to buy a bottled water.........so convenient to have a business that's half store, and half food drive-in! The next time I'm on Molokai, I wanna come back here and try the Chicken Katsu, as I saw da locals coming here to buy that plate for take out. Seating right now is a "no-go", due to Covid-19, as Mana'e Goods & Grindz has taken down all of their outside bench tables, so it's strictly take-out "grab and go" right now. Or like me, where I bought my food, and ate it in my rental car. There is a private parking lot on the business premises, so finding parking is not an issue here. Looking for some ono grindz????? I saw a review online in an article about this place so I made it a point to stop in. This lil market store off the side of the road has a lil mom and pop food stop! Go in bcuz the food is tasty! Good portions for a good price and so fresh to eat! I came here 2x during my stay. I had the chicken katsu first time w rice & macaroni! And the second time I had grilled mahi mahi with salad. Sadly we didn't have the experience most people seem to have. Miscommunication or passive aggressive order fulfillment couldn't tell the difference. As we don't eat meat I ordered two breakfast burritos "no meat" and a mango smoothie. Smoothie was stellar. Burritos had as much meat as you could fit in with the eggs and still fold into a burrito. We were there a week and this happened on day one. Could have sold 12 more burritos but sadly we just kept driving by. Miscommunication would be my bad however I kept repeating " no meat". My cousin recommended this place and she was spot on. It's really the last place to grab food before heading over to Halawa. We ordered a few items but I didn't get to taste the others and didn't get to take a picture of it as well. Oh well. I ordered the fried saimin, chicken katsu and boy oh boy was it delicious. It was crunchy on the outside and the chicken was tender and moist in the inside. You can't go wrong with this. The mac salad was good, and they gave enough rice for the amount of katsu. The fried saimin was cooked well. It wasn't oily, it had enough fish cake and spam in it. It wasn't mushy noodles, it had a great chew. Definitely wished it wasn't a hot day so I could have ordered the saimin noodle soup. Now let's talk about the loco moco. It just wasn't plain rice in the bottom but it was fried rice. Well, we ordered it with fried rice. Let's just say it was life changing and probably the best...and I mean it, THE BEST lock moco ever. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The rice was plentiful, not salty, lots of spam pieces, the beef was delicious...do I need to go on? It was just really damn delicious. Overall, I would definitely come back here when I visit family. The best chicken katsu I have had in Hawaii was at Mana'e Goods & Grindz! There is a public beach access across the street, so we enjoyed our takeout lunches on the beach. Servings are large. The line gets long so call ahead to place your order if you can. There is ample safe parking in their lot to handle customers coming through to pick up food. If you traveling on the east side of Molokai, stop by MGG for a quick bite. You wont be disappointed. They offer a good size menu and delicious local food at a reasonable price. Parking is widely available and although the store may be on the small side, they offer a great variety of products needed in a pinch. Note, this is the last store available east bound so grab what you can before heading out! On this particular stop at MGG, i ordered a kimchee fried rice with over easy eggs and chicken katsu on top. The food came out fairly quickly and looked great. The katsu was nicely breaded and crispy and the fried rice was one of the best Ive had. The portion size was huge!!! Enough to feed 2 people easily and everything tasted great. I highly recommend this place if your in the area and I wouldnt hesitate to patron this place again and again. read more

Exploring the east side of Molokai can be very exhausting. Much of the east side of the island is very spectacular and scenic to the point where it can calm the wicked and put a smile on someone's face just because they were there. It was amazing to be standing on the slopes of the eastern shoreline and just gaze into the ginormous Pacific Ocean and just relax and realize that life is good. With that in mind, Manae Goods & Grinds is a mom and pop operation on the eastern side of Molokai. Located off of the highway, it was a very good stopping point to what was a great day of sightseeing and distressing. It was a small building that kind of was a house. Home based business for sure. Most of the business here are locally owned and are family operated, so that support local means more to me than ever before. The business is part 7-Eleven and part restaurant / delicatessen. Trying to be the one stop shop for everything that you need to have while staying on Molokai, Manae Goods and Grindz can help you outfit your island adventure 100%. With ono grinds and a homespun way of doing business, the gift of aloha is alive and well here on east Molokai. What I had was their daily special. It was an experience, let me tell you. While it can be compared to other outlets on the island and maybe some venues in Honolulu, there is a certain satisfaction knowing that I was eating something from Molokai. It was delicious. That made me more self conscious about keeping the aloha and the economy alive and well on this island for the future. The aforementioned service was good and it felt right to patronize this place, especially since this place got nice reviews and it was the only one showing up on my Yelp feed at the time. We stopped by Mana'e Goods & Grindz after leaving Yamashita Bay on Molokai. I'm not too familiar with Molokai but it's probably the only store/food place in the area. We first stopped inside the mini market to see what they had... its like mini supermarket. Pretty cute. Then we went outside to order food. Everything sounded delicious. I felt like eating a burger so I ordered the Paniolo Burger. It's basically a cheeseburger with bacon, onion rings, and bbq sauce. it was delicious!!! for about $5 more, you can get fries and a drink with it. So worth it! You'd expect it to be a bit expensive since Mana'e Goods and Grinds is so far away from a lot of places but it's pretty reasonable! If you order fries, I was told to put their mustard/mayo mix that they have in a bottle on the counter. I don't care for mustard so I didn't try it but I saw a lot of people putting it on their fries. I was told it's a Molokai thing. read more

Great place for a solid plate lunch. The general store is also a good place to buy your essentials and priced comparable to stores in town (Kaunakakai). The teri chicken plate was generous, well flavored, cooked perfectly and cut into strips to make it easier to eat. Accompanied by macaroni salad and white rice this is a hearty meal with great sauce. The teri sauce is a perfect combo of sweet & savory with a hint of ginger and served on a bed of cabbage. The price is just under $10 which is a little pricey for a plate lunch, but this is Molokai and most everything is about twice as expensive when compared to larger islands like Maui and Oahu. read more

Haven't found many great choices around Molokai. But at least here, you get solid food for a cheap price. I tried a grilled cheese with an over medium fried egg and a cup of corn chowder. Both were great. The corn chowder was nice and savory and the veggies were not overcooked. It felt good on this slightly chilly day. When you're on the east end of Molokai forget finding food, except for Mana'e Goods & Grindz! We saw this little counter on our way east to the end of the road and stopped there on our way back when we were HUNGRY! They have a ton of stuff, but I seriously was craving a burger. Unfortunately, they were very busy and ran out of burger patties. We went with the fish and chips instead and it was decent, but nothing wonderful. This is a great little store with a nice selection of essentials. We were staying at a beach house 20 miles from Kaunakakai and it would have been pretty time consuming to drive all the way back into town (20 miles on Molokai can easily take 45 minutes or more) just for a few limes or a fresh six pack. Having Goods and Grindz just a few miles away was a major convenience. The people who work here were all outgoing and friendly. As a bonus, the store also has a little food counter that serves fried saimin noodles and chicken katsu plate lunch, teriyaki, burgers, etc... This stuff, while not exactly good for you, tasted like the best food in the world after a long day of backstroking around looking at the sky or gazing across the channel watching rainbows forming over Maui or half melting into a chair while absorbing some much-needed vitamin D. All around Goods and Grindz is a great resource for this part of the island. read more

Middle of the road. Figuratively and literally, since it's the only store for miles. Store itself is clean with a medium to small selection of goods which are somewhat reasonably priced. The food counter side doesn't look as clean as the store but does have a nice sized menu (up on a board). The attitude of the employees on both sides is typical for this island which means: they couldn't care less that you walked in and can't be bothered to help or acknowledge you until they are good and ready, and you can bet your hula hoop that this won't be within a reasonable time frame or with any sense of purpose or urgency. I live about 3 miles down the road from G&G and eat there at least once a week, so I feel like I have a pretty good feel on the quality of the food and service. First, the food. They definitely have some of the best grindz on the island. I'm a big fan of their teri-anything, the burgers (second only to Moloka'i Burger) and, well, so far I haven't had anything there that I would say is "bad". It's all in the range of "good" to "amazing", but I tend to like the things from the flat top more than the fryer. Their mac salad is good, so a Teri Chicken with Mac Salad and Rice is a sure bet. They have a nice variety of daily specials on the board too, so check those out for something different than the usual. Second, the service is quite nice. They're all very friendly there and are able to help you out and are pretty patient, especially considering how slammed they get during the lunch hour rush. Having the store next door is also a bonus since I can get some shopping done while my food is being cooked up. Plus, anything they don't make, you can probably find the ingredients for inside to make yourself at home. I almost never eat at the location anymore, mainly because the flies tend to be pretty persistent and get up in my grill when I'm eating. But, like I said, I live just 3 miles down the way so I can grab the food and take it home and it's still hot when I sit down to eat. Here's a tip that might help too. If you're going there during the lunch rush, call ahead and place your order. Then it will be ready by the time you get there and you don't have to wait around for them to wade through the crowd of people. read more
