They should either put up a sign to inform people to seat themselves or they should hire a hostess. First and probably last time there, around lunch time (weekday), we stood around for a while with no restaurant employee in sight. When a waitress (appeared to be only 1 for the entire restaurant) finally emerged from the kitchen, she told us about the seating policy. When we looked, there was 1 open booth but unfortunately, it hadn't been cleaned and still had previous diners' dirty plates. So added that to the wait time. Looking around, this place was popular, but also a bit depressing was the fact that the majority of the tables had no plates on them, which meant the kitchen was backed up w orders. Bracing for the long wait to eventually get our food, I did spend the time to chat and catch up w family members. When the food did arrive, it was actually edible. We ordered a variety of things. My favorite was the calamari and steak bites (though the chimichurri was not what i was expecting). The steak house burger was A-ok. Tater tots were perfect. Curiously, the hummus was the last thing to arrive on the table. Ambiance was loud, and normal for a gastropub. Decent food but I've had better experiences nearby and elsewhere. read more

Our party of 10 went here prior to a Fresno Grizzles game. Very positive experience. Deviled eggs appetizer was a little too plain, but the calamari and buffalo chicken dip made up for that. Everyone liked their entres. French dip, Chef's pub burger, Cuban sandwich, Nashville style hot chicken sandwich, and Crispy Jalapeno goat cheese burger were all awesome. Fries, slaw, and tater tot sides were all excellent. Oatmeal stout was good, but I've had better. They were out of Almond Brown Ale and the suggested substitute for it was lacking. Overall, a great place to eat at with average beers. They also have a full bar if you want hard drinks. Service was great. I definitely recommend this place. read more

Tonight I went to have dinner with my family and waited in the front of the restaurant. There were a couple other people waiting but they had been helped already. No one came to greet or acknowledge we were there. I went to ask about a table and were told it was first come first served and no one was waiting for an outside table and we would be next so we waited. A family got up to leave and we walked over and another waitress said another family was relocating to that table from another table (meanwhile their table got taken by someone else that the waitress seemed to know or at least be familiar with). I mentioned to the waitress that we had been waiting and were told we were the only people waiting for an outside table when we got there, but she didn't seem to care. The previous time we were there our food wasn't as good as previous visits. But we thought it was an off day and so we decided to try it again tonight. So disappointed with the service and food on multiple visits now. So disappointed. This place used to be good. :/ read more

I always go to Mad Duck and have excellent service from 1 bartender, but the last week the bartender was woke and had absolutely nothing to say and never looked my way until flagged down. Today a girl was stocking when I came in and flat out ignored me at the bar for 10 minutes, had time to joke around while no one saw me. When a guy came in she was talking and friendly, when a couple came in she was gushing. What about service to everyone do they not understand? Why should I sit there and wait for you to get done? At least acknowledge that patrons are sitting at the establishment and AWARE someone is there? This brought my opinion of my favorite place A LOT. Hire people with some common sense or at a least realize they could be tipped for treating customers with respect. read more

First time here. Seen the one in Fresno. Always crowded so I figured it has to be good. Ordered an El Pato Loco beer. It was good. Asked about the Triple Bypass, as it wasn't on the menu. She wasn't quite sure what was on it, but said they still made. She checked and said she "thinks it has..." Decided to get the Steakhouse burger. Started to get concerned about the wait, but just when I was loosing patience it arrived! Burger was cooked to perfection and had a really great flavor. I had order the ahi lettuce wraps as a brunch date, the ahi came out semi frozen, and because of that was too cold to eat right away. My wife had the fish and chips which she said was okay that they had fried the fish too long and had areas that were burnt. But she ate around them. We thought the food was good just needs some more prep cooking and timers maybe? The waitress we had was really nice and gave us recommendations on drinks and even suggested mocktails if we didn't drink which I thought was pretty considerate. The tater tots really carried the meal as they were fresh and crispy and weren't too greasy (definitely the best tater tots in the area). The service & tater tots are the only reason I gave it a 2 star review instead of 1. The Chicken Sandwich is what dropped my overall impression of my visit today. The breading was thicker than the chicken itself (the chicken was very thin like a cutlet maybe thinner) and the breading was just too overpowering and simply too much. I love me some Mad Duck and this is is my favorite of all three locations. I always enjoy my food and drinks and leave here satisfied. The daily drink and meal specials are a safe bet. I have never had one that I didn't like. My favorites are the crispy chicken salad, backyard barbecue burger, chicken & bree sandwich and their famous sweet potato fries. This place is fantastic I have been here now 3 different times and each time the service is great and the good keeps getting better and better. First time I got the Fish and Chips and wow were they amazing. Nice and crispy with a great flavor. Next I got the burger really enjoyed it especially with the mule drink really great combo. But my latest visit I got the Nashville chicken sandwich and wow wow wow that was one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. The chicken was soft, juicy,, and had a great crispy outside the coleslaw and sauce was such a perfect mixer of flavor 10 out of 10 will for sure be getting this one again. We had the steak tacos and the shrimp with the French bread....omg! It was good....and so reasonably priced. The large sized tacos with chunks of quality steak for $13. I spent $71 for me and my wife and we threw away about 90% of the food. The Sunday special steak enchilada was microwaved leftover meat from a French dip and dried out enchilada with hard overcooked "over easy" eggs. The potatoes were also obviously microwaved and dried out. My wife's chicken on her salad was chopped up nuggets. We used to go here weekly and with every new location they add, the food gets worse and worse. Service is fine, the building looks nice after their renovation... but you may as well eat at home if you want anything other than a drink. I wouldn't be surprised if my food was made a week ago, microwaved when I ordered it, and the only thing actually cooked today was the overdone eggs. read more

Don't be fooled by the deceptive name, this is a bar/ restaurant not a rehabilitation avian petting zoo. Their craft beers are excellent and affordable with plenty of daily Happy Hour options. I love going to Mad Duck and having the option of not being sure what to order...because it is all so good. First timer, took my son with me. My Daughter-in-law highly recommended, and they're building a new one accross the street from me, so thought I'd check it out. Ambience is good...pub like. The service was very good--staff is attentive and friendly. Installed the phone app and looked it over before going. Many things piqued my interest. I had the Steak House Burger, with a side of "BBQ" beans. The burger advertised "with Demiglace", which I love. Burgers come on a brioche bun, which is nice. I found the burger patty (ground beef & brisket blend) good and cooked right. I found the burger lacking in overall flavor, especially the demiglace which is usually pungent. The so-called BBQ beans were good, but I could detect no flavor I would associate with BBQ. My son had the Gilroy Burger with curly fries. He reports it was "ok" but didn't quite live up to the marketing hype, flavor-wise. I had a pint of the Pub Ale, which was good. Son had the Opulence and found it good as well. The menu is pretty broad and has something pretty much for everybody. I also took an order of Grilled Steak Bites home with me and tried one of them. It was very good, cooked right & tasty. I'll have them for lunch and evaluate the sauces that come with. They have Happy Hour and rotating daily food and drink specials. For the prices charged, I'd see this place as an infrequent "treat," rather than a place I'd go more frequently. Good, but not outstanding. I'll be returning a couple more times to evaluate other menu and brew offerings. read more

We ordered this for delivery and it was great! Usually I am not a fan of ordering my food so it can sit in an Uber for 45 min before I get it, but this food travels well. My sons burger was awesome! My chicken strips were on point and delicious, my wife's salad and pretzel were hella good too. I'd say give this place a shot if you are home and need some good grub delivered. 6/18/23 This used to be one of my Favorite places to eat!! had a chickpea sandwich and sweet potato fries last night $25 before tax , chicken was a super tiny breast probably 4oz the sweet potato fries are an addition side , used to come on it's own plate and full plate of fries now it's on the side of the burger and they were soggy no beer and it was $25plus tax so sad I'm sure they are cutting corners due to minimum wage cost so much $$$ I will not be returning:(....... read more

Really disappointing with the service. A guy #1 came immediately and took our drink order, never saw him or drinks, girl ask for drink order, bartender guy #2 brings them over 10 min later, had to ask for napkins. Asked for water, never received. Girl took our food order, guy #3 delivers it, wrong food! Ask for buffalo chicken sandwich and was something else, girl comes over and says she thought I was ordering from the secret menu!!! Guy #3 brings back my fries and say I can eat those while I wait for my food. Finally bring my food, other person done with his. Guy #3 comes and I ask who our server is and he said they ALL share tables!! Girl comes and finally brings water. Guy #1 brings our tab and we had $30 extra drinks on our tab, we did not order!! I ask guy #1 for container and guy #2 corrects our bill...who do I tip?? We had awful service and apparently someone else got some free drinks considering they were on our bill not theirs!
