I had a bunch of very good macaroons. The most difficult part was choosing. Wonderful people, great pastries!

If you want to brush up on a skill or try something new, Dawn's definitely has so thing for you! My daughter's 1st birthday is coming up and I decided I'd do an edible favor for everyone and landed on truffles! After a referral from a neighbor, my friends and I signed up for the Tempering & Truffle class, and it was so fun! You can bring your own flavor mix-ins for the ganache or experiment with what they have (which is a LOT). Dawn led our class and shes a hoot! Coming away I finally understand why I could never Tempering chocolate properly, which has been a struggle for year. But also how to make truffles! I made 5 dozen that came out stunning and hope our guests enjoy them! Will for sure be bake for the cake carving classes and the royal icing class for cookies, because my skills are basic and I'd love piping tips and tricks! When my little is older, we're totally coming for the kids classes!

From cake boards and pans in multiple sizes to decorative items such as sprinkles and confetti, they carry everything you need in one place. We also noticed that they appear to offer classes in the back of the store, which I am considering booking for my team as a team-building activity. It looks like a great opportunity and a fun experience. I would definitely recommend checking this store out.

We were directed to Christina based upon the…read moresize and location of our event - due to her minimum pricing Blue Box is not an option for small weddings but was perfect for our medium size guest count (just over 100). When meeting for our tasting, we went with the more extravagant 8 flavor option as my husband is a chocolate fan but I am not...this was well worth the price as we got 8 mini cakes to try which meant plenty to take home and enjoy over the weekend! Christina won us over with her flavors and enthusiasm, she provided some off the menu suggestions for mixing and matching sponge and fillings which was awesome. Ultimately, we settled on a mix of a traditional wedding cake (we were so pleased to get more than one flavor choice), along with a smaller gluten free cake and a number of sweet treats to appeal to a wide range of dietary restrictions and palates. When it came to design, Christina was very attentive to our inspiration photos/vision but also mindful of our budget as sugar past dahlias are not easy or inexpensive! When we discussed incorporating our dogs, she had a vendor lined up to make figurines and took care of the ordering process once we provided her some photos. Ultimately, she knocked it out of the park both with appearance and taste! I am hopeful that she waives her fee minimum in the event we want a one tier anniversary cake (-:

My only gripe is that I would LOVE to order that cake again to surprise my SIL with, but alas due to the order minimum I probably won't be able to make it happen. Totally understandable as Christina is rightfully thoroughly booked with bigger orders.

They have pretty typical Korean bakery fare and pricing seems to be just a bit higher than competitors, probably somewhere around a 10% premium compared to similar family owned bakeries. On my visit I got two pastries to try: Soboro Cream ($3.49) - Instead of a delicately crackly cookie crust, this bun has a much softer, almost moist topping, which may be due to them placing the bread in the packaging before being fully cooled off, allowing the bun to steam too much. There's a bunch of sweetened stabilized cream inside that's sweet and oily. The bread itself is kind of dry and crumbly, either not a typical milk bread recipe or perhaps it had been sitting on the shelf for too long. (2/5) Corn Mochi ($5.99) - This comes with six pieces. The corn mochi has a nice chewy tapioca flour base. There's black sesame sprinkled throughout giving a burst of nutty flavor. I expected to see whole corn kernels baked inside but I think they just use corn flour in the dough. It's way less sweet than the soboro. Texturewise, the inside is bouncy while the outside has a harder baked crust. (4/5) Overall Le Bon Patisserie is a pretty average Asian grocery store-paired bakery. It's more of a place to buy bread for convenience rather than anything special, but it does the job decently well.

And…read moreyet I accidentally go back periodically because it's right inside the H Mart complex and because I have the memory span of a goldfish. I am always intensely disappointed with myself for not remembering how much it sucks, especially with 85 Degrees bakery just down the block. My latest foray led me to two loaves of milk bread for $11!!!! WTF? First of all, the two loaves look absolutely different... one is a square, and the other one is more like the milk bread shape. The lady behind the counter assured me they are the same. Spoiler alert: they are not, but they are equally awful. For those of you who knows REAL Japanese milk bread, it is like magic. I f***in' love milk bread... and while I don't use drugs, I imagine the euphoria I feel when I bite into milk bread is similar to a drug high. La Bon's milk bread is literally the worst white bread I have EVER tasted. It's worst than any grocery store brand and tastes like paper mache, wait, no.... I ate paper mache as a kid and this is far far worse. The pure and utter sadness I feel every time I put a piece of that shitty white cardboard into my mouth is worthy of a country western song. And everything else from that place tastes like cardboard. DO NOT GO. Or if you do, just be forewarned.... godspeed.
